  • On Tuesday 16th June we hosted our next Lifting the Lid event on Zoom, this time on Cancer and Friendship.
Hosted by Alice-May Purkiss (author of "Life, Lemons and Melons” and co-host of AfterThoughts34 podcast), we talked honestly about the effect of cancer on friendships. From the BFF who ghosts you, how to reestablish friendships and then those magical unicorn friends who get it *exactly right*.
We had Georgie Swallow (a Trekstock Young Adult Ambassador who has experienced Hodgkin's lymphoma twice) and Sadruz Zaman (from the Trekstock Community who was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was 16) share their experience of being diagnosed and how they found navigating their friendships after being diagnosed.
We also had experts advice from Dr Catherine Hood (Professor in Communications and Consultant in Psychosexual Medicine) and Glyn Harries (CLIC Sargent Social Worker for Essex) as well as Pippa Davies (Georgie's friend).
