Spain is always one of the 3 most visited countries in the world, in fact in 2023 it was the most visited, with the arrival of more than 85 million tourists, almost double that of the Spanish population, which has 48 million of inhabitants. Taking into account that the majority of tourists visit the same places, the overcrowding, the destruction of cultural heritage or nature is enormous, as well as the brutal increase in the cost of housing for the Spaniards who reside in those places causes problems to arise.
The problem is not the Turism industry that is an example for many other countries industries and provides many job. Is funny how this kind of people do not complain about how thousands and thousands of illegal immigrant traspass our borders when there is not houses enough and they get free accommodation , and make average salaries decrease, not even mention social resources when the f4ck1ng debt of the country is huge or crime rates. Just a little fun fact, 70% OF FOREING PEOPLE IN CATALUNA DEPENDS OF SOCIAL SALARIES HELPS AND DO NOT CONTRIBUTE WITH TAXES TO THE COUNTRY

The increase of cost of housing is because the policies of the goverment prevent to create create new houses and goverment haven`t created new urban areas. The royal palace does have guards. The image the video showed was from inside the palace, there are people walking cause you can buy a ticket and visit it. Also, the royal family doesn't live there anymore. Now they use it for formal meetings with presidents or other royal families. So when there's no one in the palace, tourist can go inside and visit it.
10:37 the Sagrada Familia is not very old, its construction started in 1882, and it’s still ongoing. The facade looks that way because it’a covered in a lot, a lot of sculpted details. Look out for pictures of the Nativity facade (the only one actually built when Anton Gaudì was still alive), it’s really amazing.
And the texture is also because Gaudi was inspired by the textures that nature creates instead of copying the style of other cathedrals. That is why it is so difficult to build and so unique in the world.
Of course there were cranes in the XVIII century!!! It's not the first time I hear an American guy saying such a mistake. Romans and Greeks already had huge cranes 2000 years ago!!!!
Sagrada familia been taking so long to build because the guy who designed it was genius. He created a cathedral that was imposible to build fully in his time. He basically designed it to be built as technology advanced. Right now, technogy is about to reach the point where his idea is posible to be built. He left very detailed schematics of every part of the construction, tips for the architects who would come after him. Also explained what kind technology was required for each part of the cathedral. The higher you get in the building, the more advanced is the technology required to build that "part".
The first building of Madrid that you liked so much is Palacio de Cibeles (Cibeles Palace), Madrid City Hall. You can see it lit at night in minute 15:28

It is not that they hate foreigners or tourism in general, but it needs some regulation, or quotas, in order to keep the city not to become an amusement park. And that is just in Barcelona, the rest of Spain, with a lot of tourism, has not that problem of too much tourism, at least, not yet. PS: You were right, Morocco and Spain shared the same Muslim culture, and art, for 7 centuries, and Christians, will achieve 6 centuries in 2042 if you take the conquest of Granada as the date Castilians won those last territories inside Spain.

The Alhambra reminds you of Morocco because it is an Arab fortress. The Arabs dominated Spain for 700 years (from 711 to 1492) you can see a lot of Arab (Moorish) architecture, mixed with Christian, throughout Spain (except in the North, where they did not reach) The Christians who remained in the North conquered all of Spain, taking it from the Moors, for centuries.
