Thanks Doc! I completely changed my diet six months ago based on nationally recommended guidelines, but it only made my health worse. It wasn’t until I read 'The 23 Former Doctor Truths' that I realized doing the opposite of what the government advises can actually make a difference. No wonder the doctor who wrote it left their career-speaking the truth often challenges the system!
Dump your tv. Surround yourself with like minded people. Whatever advice authorities give do the opposite. Don't worry about what people think and don't be frightened to say no.
Thank you, I walk 3 to 5 thousand steps a day keeping track with my Apple watch and I play a fast song and walk with the beat of the music. My favorite song to play while walking is Proud Mary by CCR and I’m 84 years old.
After watching a number of your videos over the past few months, I have changed my diet: cutting out seed oils as much as possible, buying healthy bread, avoiding packaged/processed food (protein bars), opting for organic and whole foods as much as I can, largely cutting out sugar/baked goods, saying no to take-out, etc... I feel much better, less brain fog, more energy, lower inflammation. I'm still considered young but I put my body through a lot in my life and have a high stress load so I want my health to be immaculate as possible. I still have a lot of work to do mentally and physically. Thank you for all you do.
I am an indian and follow most of your videos , post an Angiplasty that I felt was not needed. It is true that the medical field is only keen to drag you into their trap. The processed food industry, pharma industry and the medical field are hand in glove. The first one makes you fall sick with lifestyle diseases by temptation and the other two ensure you live longer with their medicines.
I love how you integrated stoicism into your video about improving our health. Personally, I'd love to hear more of that, especially your interpretation of stoicism and how it benefits our health. I'm beginning to learn more about stoicism and see how much I can live up to its ideals to ameliorate my mental health effectively as an adjunct to the mainstream ways. I like your 5-step approach because I feel like they're more doable. I like to accomplish goals in steps, sometimes even baby steps. Otherwise, they seem too overwhelming and almost impossible if not impossible to achieve. I, for example, have to work on #2: the walking goal; then, the one on saying no to one temptation is one that I could probably do, though it's not easy since I have ADHD, and I'm ruled by a dopamine deficiency. Then, the one about using my mobile phone less doesn't apply to me as far as social media. I don't really engage in the social media apps since I don't socialise that way. The one social media app I use a lot, but for researching topics, informational purposes, and sometimes for music only is RUclips. For example, I often watch your videos and some other health related videos. The 5th one that incorporates stoicism is probably the most challenging one because usually I'm easygoing, except when someone is rude, tries to hurt or attack me, or pushes my buttons. Then, I tend to react emotionally, whether it's outwardly or within myself. But, I really believe the stoics are correct in that we can't control external events, but we can control how we react to them. I think I can maybe manage controlling my reaction at least once a day, I hope!
What is bad for my health in my knowledge and from learning, never have an impact on my craving . I don't crave anything bad in my life, but addicted to the good things that are beneficial to my health. I drag myself daily to walk daily, long hour walk in the sun, in the cold. I drag myself 4 days a week to the lap pool, rain or shine. The day I miss i feel uneasy, angry of myself for the excuse not doing my routine. What all this called? ADDICTION. The only things i am addicted to. Am 72, no prescription neded, no vaccines of any kind, i even forgot my doctor name as not seeing him for a long time. Take care of yourself, keep an active life, cook your own meals. Being healthy is simple like that.
That was GREAT, Dr. Dhand... Much appreciated and needed . We often know what to do but not how to do it. . You gave us the tools to get started. Thank you.
I agree with what you say and still I need to be reminded of the great results of those small actions on my health. Thank you for being there and help!
I agree with you that it is expensive but I don’t understand why. You would think that the fewer ingredients a product has the cheaper the price would be. 😮 Remember the early 1970s when unleaded gasoline was introduced? It was more expensive than the gasoline that had lead in it. People couldn’t understand why unleaded gasoline was not cheaper than the gasoline that was leaded. Same thing. 😮
Thank you for being a steady voice of encouragement in the 'holiday' chaos. It's hard for those of us that have lost loved ones recently. The inclination is to reach for a poor quality snack, and be a couch potato. These things are not helpful.
Fortunately, I am a senior attending trauma surgeon, and I have to have my phone on all the time. What I am finding out in my older years is that my sleep patterns have changed because of my fluctuation of schedule.
I'm 57 I never got covid and I haven't had any illness in over 12 years and I truly believe it's cuz I could cook and prepare all my own food I don't do fast food once in awhile Texas roadhouse. I've never had a Big Mac. I also believe getting outside digging in the garden playing with my pets keeps my immune system strong. I'm on no Pharmaceuticals no high blood pressure nothing like that. But I do have a weakness for my Pepsi
These are wonderful habits to incorporate into our daily lives. Thank you Dr. Dhand for all that you do. You are truly a beacon of common sense and we are so fortunate to be able to benefit from your wisdom.
Thankfully I have absolutely no desire for sugar but my husband has enough for us both. He's diabetic now but he has always had a bad sweet tooth as does his entire immediate family. I'd love to understand the science behind this. He is Mexican if that matters (born there) so they consume ALOT of sugar over there. Love todays video.
It's like an allergy to carbs. Switch him to cane sugar. No more things with beet sugar in it. Because that's carbs, like potatoes. Carbs = not more that his own fist per meal. Bread can be toasted, so he can have 2 instead of 1 slice.
I appreciate you so much. When you speak to us I know you truly care and want to help us. These are simple but profound steps. And I always love hearing you say "Welcome to another video." You never disappoint. ❤
Thanks for the nudge!! I park as far away from stores as I can. It’s usually a safer quieter spot so no accidents to spike the stress!! Vegetarian all my life. Totally multi cultural in my diet. Shop on the ring against the wall. Dairy, Meat, Vegetables - single ingredient items. That is how I shop - however, it is expensive.
A lot less expensive than the illnesses that come from processed foods.
I agree with you that it is expensive but I don’t understand why.
