I'm Not Scared" is a song by Patsy Kensit's British pop band Eighth Wonder, released in February 1988 as the first single from their debut album, Fearless (1988). It achieved success in France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the UK, where it was a top-10 hit. Written by the Pet Shop Boys, the original version contains several words in French. "J'ai pas peur" is the French adaptation of "I'm Not Scared" and is included as the B-side to the 7-inch and 12-inch singles. The 12-inch "disco mix" combines the two versions into one long mix. Pet Shop Boys also released their own version of the song, with Neil Tennant vocals, on the album Introspective (1988)

Interesting, I heard the Pet Shop Boys version first and found it absolutely stunning, then I came to check out this version and unfortunately am not a fan. (Sorry, no offense meant to those who love this one.)
Eighth Wonder did this before pet shop boys, apparently. I argued, with my son, that the pet shop boys recorded this first and eighth wonder covered it but I was wrong. He proved it. Glad to know I was half right though, considering they wrote it, I wasn't entirely wrong. well, that's what i'm going with anyway!
I think Patsy Kensit in this music video gives the very best representation EVER of high-class decadence that has EVER been represented by a British female music artist in the medium of music video. The music video camera just LOVES Patsy Kinset, and she gives a very natural human performance in this music video. The movement of the camera, edits and the way Patsy comes across in EVERY scene of this music video is what truly created a British Pop music video classic here.
By far the best part of this is the insane and instantly recognisable vocals at 2:38 combined with Patsy's that send shivers down your spine...I can't imagine NOT recognising Neil's iconic voice.
L'adorable Patsy Kensit, inoubliable dans le rôle de crêpe Suzette, dans le film Absolute beginners aux côtés de David Bowie.......I'm not scared, pure pépite des années 80, inaltérable 🤩
Lead singer Patsy Kensit was just captivating in her videos. My personal fave Cross My Heart was even covered by Martika a year after. She was one of the most underrated superstars in the late 80s.
@@roygalaasen have you heard the boys do it live? It's bloody brilliant, I've always thought Neil's vocals work so much better with it. You can hear his fabulously distinct voice come in on this at 2:38.
28 years down the line and this song is still incredible. And Patsy Kensit back in the 80's was oh so much sexier than the fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of this day and age.
Well… The fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of this day and age are still better than the fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of tomorrow. And Patsy also looks like a fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of this day and age comparing to the fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of yesterday, of the 60’s for example ! And if teenagers adore the fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of today, what can you do about it ? It’s not a crime ! Personally, I think Eighth Wonder is the sort of band that makes me understand why so many people hate the 80’s ! Those awful sounds and rhythms that could be just another Stock Aitken Waterman song ! And an 80’s bimbo trying to be sexy by singing and speaking in French with an awful accent. No, really : I can’t stand people criticizing bad music by defending other bad music. I’d rather hear or read people who don’t keep on criticizing today’s music. We should be glad people still play music rather than becoming real criminals or something.
Habibasse i agree with you but just to add to that ,i think the reason people often hate the 80s is because they never seem to play the good stuff on the radio eg the smiths the cure japan killing joke echo and the bunnymen rem wire or early omd to name a few well knowns.when they do play something though, its always the same old comercial songs like the cures love cats which is just awfull and their worst track.dont forget all the post punk goth indie and cool electronic music that was running in paralel with the dreadfull s.a.w's modona's eighth wonder's and kylie's - some the best most imaginative bands came out of the 80s or had their biggest success back then.
***** Actually, you said what I meant, but in a better way. I’m so glad you mentioned those bands. You can add many others : Madness, Siouxise & the Banshees, Dexy’s Midnight runners, Stranglers, Prefab Sprout, Tears for Fears… and the list goes on. In fact I even like Kajagoogoo, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Human League and Culture Club. I’m not an 80’s hater at all. I just find it sad to hear those bad songs from the 80’s in clubs, in all those compilations and hear people saying 80’s were crap. Funny that you mention Japan ! Sylvian’s gang is still one of my favorite bands, but… just like XTC, they started in the 70’s. And although I know those band don’t seem very proud of their early stuffs, I still adore their early years. I know some of those bands I mentioned where already active in the 70’s too, but they are better known for their 80’s music. Also a shame knowing they were all brilliant in their beginnings. I’m sorry, but I won’t call Love Cats awful. It just seems like the Cure have about three kind of music : the dark, but catchy sound of their four first albums, their commercial sound like Love Cats and their very long and slow stuff like the Disintegration album. And personally, I thing they play it all very good. They sound unique, even if they’ve got influences by Joy Division, sound like Cranes or seems to have emerged before the Smiths, Echo as you mentioned and all those great artists. Take Care !
Habibasse ... Technotronic, Snap, Corona, Dr. Alban... Ca marche toujours ! Vive les 80-90's ! I'm 42 and so... Teenager in 80s
What a great song! So, what conclusions does the star of the eighties have today? My good advice, repent before God and see the light you dreamed of!!! 🙏❤
She is my idea of beauty. And oh, yes, I love the song, it makes me feel alive, expecially in the crescendo. Masterpiece, no need to add anything else.

Are you having a laugh?, this was just dross. Not worth the effort of putting in n your ears.
Written by Pet Shop Boys!!!!!!!! Great!!!!! 70s and 80s best decades ever!!!!!
Written AND produced ;)
super pesem.
Totally agree!!!
I can almost hear Neil Tennant singing along. It's pure Pet Shop.

😀 This is so sweet. 80ties are so innocent compared with these times.
Indeed , she was absolutely magnificent
Pet Shop Boys' production still as slick fresh as ever. Unlike a lot of 80's synth, their work never dates.
Their Introspective version is a masterpiece...
Haris Baki it's unreal lol good on u haris
Tom Ripley .klll
Tom Ripley So true! Pet Shop Boys 80s and Contemporary is timeless
Being a teenager in the 80's was the best. All the best music like this
00
the best period !!!! je suis contente d'avoir été adolescente in the 80's !!!! nowadays it's so sad
And it was great to start the 80s as a child. Then ending it as a teemager was awesome.
being a teenager, kid OR adult imo, 85-95 were the greatest time to be alive. ;)
Yes
One of the most beautiful singer of all time
OMG! The 80's were really great

One of the best songs of the Pet Shop Boys ❤This version is amazing! Congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😊
one of the best version
Their version is brilliant. I recommend it.

She is still stunning !

Yup!!! She starred in Lethal Weapon 2…when she romanced Mel Gibson!!!!
31 years down the line and this song still sounds incredible
Lead singer Patsy Kensit was just captivating in her videos. My personal fave Cross My Heart was even covered by Martika a year after. She was one of the most underrated superstars in the late 80s.

The best mix you could get in 1988 - Neil Tennant's voice and Patsy Kensit's looks 🙂
Pet Shop Boys and Patsy Kensit are still the best joint venture! Eighth Wonder . Thanks for sharing
Thank you! My brain kept telling me “Pet Shop Boys”, yet I don’t remember any female voice in this song. First time I hear this version.
@@roygalaasen They have their own version on Introspective - great album.
@@roygalaasen have you heard the boys do it live? It's bloody brilliant, I've always thought Neil's vocals work so much better with it. You can hear his fabulously distinct voice come in on this at 2:38.
80's will live forever ❤️
Sure!❤️
Apsolutly!
Loved 80's...... So much great music!
OMG I'VE FINALLY FOUND THIS SONG!!!!! EVER SINCE I HEARD IT ON A RADIO AD 2 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
This isn't really my genre but it's one of those 80's songs that has always lingered in memory.
28 years down the line and this song is still incredible.
And Patsy Kensit back in the 80's was oh so much sexier than the fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of this day and age.
Well…
The fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of this day and age are still better than the fake plastic, talentless celebrity wonnabees of tomorrow.
*****
Actually, you said what I meant, but in a better way.
