Improvised weapons with effects that can be compared to a spell. Ashes throw (sand, dirt...) improvised weapon attack. Save Vs dex (Difficulty might be 10 to 15) or be blinded 1D4 rounds. no damage. Table leg is a club.
Thanks for this ! came up at just the right time. My party is about to have to give up their weapons for an hour or two. I appreciate the thorough explanations, and the short form factor makes these easy to digest :D. Was wondering if you have any methods of managing the PC's personal stories along side the main campaign. Im running SKT and am not sure how i should pace them
You are welcome. Characters personal stories should be linked to the non-player characters and main story, if your players understand that it's not about the individual. I feel like this topic keeps coming up. Is this a video topic?
Interesting, What about this? Can you use a whip to Grapple or retrain a target? The whip has a range of 10 feet so, do I need to be within 5 feet of I can stay within 10 feet of my weapon? Oh and does'this even work with the likes of Tavern Brawler?
Going to be player for third time . . . Normallly I am Dm . . . made barbarian and got tavern brawler after talking with friemd -1str after I told Dm my odea of Female Goliat Barbarian who always goes around smashing poople woth differend stuff... robe or hands to strangle Bottless with anything inside to smash grabling and using attack to smash ememys head to wooden table taking a shield amd using it as plunt object to attack also sand and rocks would love to find video that taöked differend improvised weapons that they have seen used ^_^
As always, very informative and useful. I have a specific situation, a fighter in my game tried to use his great axe as a bludgeoning weapon to squish a swarm of rot grubs that were, well, swarming him. I ruled it would fall into improvised weapon category in this way: no proficiency bonus, damage was reduced from d12 to a d8, and any roll of a "1" on the attack would sunder the weapon. How would you have handled it? I wanted it to do no more than d4 of damage, but several players argued that as a fighter he has proficiency in multiple types of weapons, so I allowed a d8, still no proficiency and a 1 breaks the weapon. I am leary about this ruling, because I want to avoid the Swiss army approach to weapons. Any input would be helpful.
Thanks. My opinion is not that important. You have provided a good rational for your ruling. If you are not sure it was the right call, then change it. This comes down to your relationship with the players.
