- Here's my first upload! I hope someone out there enjoys it!
I'd love to make more videos like this, so if you want to see more design processes like this one, please feel free to comment any ideas you might want me to try out.
I do not own Pokémon, and all original creations in this video are of my own design.
With Banoot, I couldn't help but think "Batesian Mimicry." The color scheme and general body plan is extremely similar to a goopy, overweight Pikachu, and the antennae match the ears very closely.
It fools its avian predators into thinking it has the electric powers developed by many rodents to ward them off.
Banoot is def my favourite. And i like how it kind of looks like a ‘regional fake’ pikachu too😄
I looked at the thumbnail and thought “wow this person is super talented, how have I never heard of them?” And then I clicked on the vid and realised you have less than 1k subs?? I 100% thought you would’ve had at least 250k. And the video is so high quality!!

With all the new designers that have joined Satoshi Tajiri, I don't think pokemon really has a design format anymore. These in my opinion fit the pokemon world really well, and have great proportions!

Oh my Glaceon! These Pokemon are so beautiful it makes me want to cry thinking about them not being canon! I'm sure if Canberry, Banoot and Zourrend were in Pokemon Go, I would collect hearts with them to become best buddys!

Wait these are your FIRST fakemon? These are real good!!! I especially love canberry and the lemon shark! And slugs are always a favorite of mine! You've got a lot of potential!
I made a sugar glider pokemon that has a unique evolution which involves with Alcremie.
Its category is the shortbread pokemon, but when it evolves it becomes the shortcake pokemon.
Its ears are pattern based on the candy toppings from Alcremie, has a dual typing effect based on the Alcremie flavor form, and has a special move based on what flavor
I can't get over how creative and adorable all these designs are! Even their shinies look great, I wish these were real Pokémon. And for this being your first video and first attempt at replicating the Pokémon style, you did an awesome job with both, the production quality on this is amazing! You've earned a new sub dude :D
Love it. I personally think zourend should be fairy instead of grass type. You would have to change nothing, but maybe the Pokédex entry from the sister game could say “when feeling threatened there electric shocks focus on the muscles in the head causing the victim to produce a humorous face. They will occasionally do this to their friends as a practical joke.”
Are you kidding? As a first try, I was sitting here thinking you must have already been a known in the fakemon yt community that I just somehow missed by the quality until I noticed the likes and sub count. You're already killing it! I look forward to more.
Aww they’re all so cute! They remind me of the Foodimals from “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2.”
Romato also reminds me of the fake Foodimal I tried to make, called “Tomatoad”. It’s simply a toad that is a plump Roma tomato lol
Great designs! And I agree with you, we need more aquatic pokemon that are not water type. They've givens us many the last few gens, but it's always nice to have them!
Banoot and Zourrend are definitely my favorites of the bunch. Every design was solid, and I believe you'll nail down that Pokémon style while adding your own personal flare as well!
I was so pleasantly surprised by Romato!!! I don’t typically like frogs or tomatoes so I was very excited about how cute it turned out!!!! Love him little hands and feet’s being green!!
It’d be so cool if Canberry had an ability like ‘harvest frost’ or something that made it immune to ice since grass/flying is 4x weak to it

this video was so well done!! i absolutely love what you did with the banana slug -- making it a little rodent-looking guy who is also a slug is basically my ideal Pokemon design. i need him in my life. zourrend is also perfect wow i love the shape language in their design
You are very underrated! You've got the Pokémon style DOWN and I love this concept and find all of these cute little guys absolutely adorable. (Banoot has to be my favourite, I find real slugs gross and slightly terrifying but slug Pokémon are adorable)
And for a future video it'd be really cool to see you make Pokémon from instances of pareidolia. It's typically referring to seeing faces in objects but it can also extend to seeing an object as another object, or animal.
Examples; A cloud looks like a crocodile. A pile of laundry looks like a dog... etc.
Also I see this is your only video and you got 1.3k subs and 22k views like *that* 👌Is amazing! Great work and have fun making videos ^.^

I like the idea of the lemon shark being electric, since lemons are sour, and conduct electricity, and are full of electrolytes.

The Good: Canberry and Zourrend
The Meh: Banoot
The Bad: Romato
Overall Winner: Zourrend! I totally agree with your stance on non-water types pokemon appearing while surfing. Zourrend reall gives me a big gen 1-3 vibe with the design but more newer gen with the coloring scheme. Great overall and I'd love to see an evolved form of it.
Canberry reminds me of the girl in Johto who named her Pidgey "Strawberry!" my favorite random NPC! These are all so darn cute!!!!!
Zourrend is freaking adorable!
I love the typing of it as well!
Gooey is already a Pokemon ability, and it's even more fitting given the fact it slows foe Pokemon that faint it
D’aww, they’re all so cute! Banoot in particular reminds me of the “cousins” from Lilo & Stitch: The Series.
I love all of them, but Banoot is definitely the cutest 😊
Some ideas I got from this was a goldfish that was pure steel type referencing gold the metal and fish.
Then I thought since the goldfish was a decoy you could make decoy koi fish since it’s a wordplay. Maybe decoy could be a sneaky ghost type or maybe even a normal, fairy, or dragon type.
You could also do an evolution to wishiwashi being called octopie which is a bunch of octopus in the shape or pizza slices and when formed together could be a pizza pie! It could also reference how remoraid evolves into octillary.
Lastly maybe there can be a gummy bear Pokémon which could be fairy type. I have so many ideas now! :)

Hi! I have been making fakemon for a while now and I am gonna give you a few tips to make convincing looking fakemon. You already have a pretty good take on the pokemon art style, but you just need to work on proportions. With Can berry, the head is way too small, make it bigger to make it less realistic and more pokemon. For banoot, I think it's a great design, it is just the pose is un-interesting and most pokemon don't face the camera or completely to the side, more in between another word being 3/4. For Romato, the pose is kinda stiff, and it looks too cartoony for the pokemon art style. Finally for Zourrend, I think it's pretty perfect maybe like I said before make it 3/4 not facing completely to the left but this is really close to the pokemon art style for someone who is trying to replicate the art style for the first time, you were closer than me.

@littlesparrow2579 it's just constructive criticism. Some people may not want to hear it, but it's really important to grow as an artist is to take any critiques people give you, if you ask for it or not
Concrit used to be the norm, you know. As in actual concrit which is what the commenter left. A lot of people now seem convinced that concrit is trolling or meanness and that's not the case at all. We need to bring genuine concrit back!@@sporeboar
@@sporeboar if you never get criticism, especially for someone aiming to replicate a style, it can shift your perception and ultimately you may not find the 'pokemon'-like style you originally aim for.
Constructive criticism is like a course corrector, taking your ideas and knowledge and showing how you can approve upon it.
Whats nice about ideas is you dont need to adhere to them. Theyre ideas, suggestions, not hard rules you need to go by. They try to help generally, not govern.
Of course, for developing a personal style that kind of advice is less needed, seen as forcing them to conform to certain ideas _you_ have rather than their vision.
Practice is good
Just dont force anyone to learn a specifc way
I love these! I actually thought Banoot looked the most like it belongs in the game haha, it's almost like a fusion of Pawmot and Gastrodon/shellos in vibes. I love them all so much!

It would be kinda cool if you were to make a regional variant of Pikachu that is a slug, but mimicks the likeness of Pikachu to trick people. Just a thought.
Also, my favorite was the Strawberry finch that you designed into a pokemon. So cool!

As someone that loves making FakeMon, these designs are absolutely amazing! And I love Canberry's shiny. Inverting the pink and red with eachother works perfectly. If you're sticking on this path or not, can't wait to see more from you. :D

I just found the channel through this video. This video reminded me of something I've recently been on a kick about: the concept of a Bread Cat. Whenever I see a cat with its legs tucked under it, I think it looks like a loaf of bread, which is why I affectionately refer to cats I see like that as a "Cat Loaf." I even came up with some names, which imply it could be a 3 stage Pokemon; most cat Pokemon are only 2 stages, the exceptions being both of the cat starter Pokemon and the Shinx line. The names I came up with are Kneadtin (a mix of the word Knead, as in Kneading dough, and Kitten, because it is a kitten) and Nyandough (a blend of the general Japanese expression for a cat's sound of meowing, and the word dough); after that, I don't know where to go with names, there are a few directions can go with different kinds of bread and confections being options for the final stage.
Wow these are all fantastic designs! The fruit theme is fun and creative. I think you did a good job at mimicking the Pokémon style.
Canberry is so cute! I can totally see them hanging out in a brush. I love the shiny, but I would have made it blue to reference the Rawst berry from Pokémon.
Banoot is my second favorite design. I love slugs! I think they're cute. Bug/Ground is a fun typing, having unique resistances. I can totally see it having the Water Absorb ability as well. It would also make it quite good, being immune to two common typings of your choosing. I prefer the original design, even if its head may look a bit phallic... I would have made its shiny pink to reference the Nanab berry from Pokémon.
My favorite definitely has to be Romato. A happy round frog that is a tomato? Absolutely yes! Although if I were to make an adjustment I'd change the mouth. Maybe a squiggly mouth similar to Jeremiah's from Animal Crossing.
I agree that we need more swimming Pokémon that aren't water types. Electric/Grass is an amazing type combo that fits Zourrend's design. Leaf Guard is a terrible ability, but it's at least funny to think a Pokémon from the water benefitting from being under harsh sunlight. This Pokémon screams Energy Ball and Volt Switch. With the addition of water moves I can see it being quite strong.

I think they're all very cute and cool. I especially love the shinies! If I may give a suggestion, perhaps make shiny banoot blue-fish as a nod to blue bananas. Yes they do exist ^^ I can't wait to see more of your beautiful pokemon!!!

Just a theory/suggestion/idea for Zourrend could have a base Grass type, referencing the lemon 🍋. And from that, maybe a split evolution, based on the idea of over watered or sour lemonade; a "starving" Grass/Water form (too much water) and a "well feed" Grass/Electric shark😃 (for the latter, maybe even a hammerhead, having orange slice shaped head, and a superior electro-sensor😁)
Love the idea, and as a first video (or as a video in general) is really good, great work, 👍🫶🙂

May I suggest trying to design a fire/grass type that’s actually creative and not just a pepper? I recommend fireweed as an inspiration.

I love your drawings! And while some of them may not look quite like pokemon, they definitely have pokemon energy. Quick note, you may want to look into making 2 and 3 stage designs if you ever decide to turn this into an actual region. Ideas for future drawings, if you want to keep with the food theme;

You could also go the other direction and do plants named after animals

Or maybe items named after animals

Considering the connotations "Paradise" has had in this series, a Bird of Paradise would be especially interesting.

I like your ideas, and I would say Zourrend is my favorite. It would be interesting if you eventually made some evolutions for these! With Romato looking like it could have a preevolution.
Making more pokemon based on food and animals is a fun idea, and there are certainly potential for a lot more potential ideas.
How about combining a Bluejay with blueberries, or making a honey badger, chocolate chip sea star, fried egg jellyfish or coconut crab? :D

Not a food, but I always loved the idea of a "dandelion" being an actual lion.
