- On the road to the 59th annual Grammy Awards, one of the emerging acts to watch is Anderson .Paak. The rapper, singer-songwriter and drummer is up for two awards, including Best New Artist. Lee Cowan reports on how the rising star overcame a painful past.
Hey, I usually don't comment but I gotta say this...DON'T sleep on this guy and his art. If you haven't heard of him, take a moment and listen to his album, Malibu. It's a like a breath of fresh air.

Uniquely versatile with his perfection of artistry......I was sleep and heard him for the first time and I woke up trying to see whom was it...that was when Leave the Door Open came out....I have been listening to him every since plus I am a senior citizen, totally love him!! he is such a great entertainer, singer, drummer and performer and for sure MORE!!🥰😍
Went to a Bruno Mars concert in Birmingham, England in April with my wife to keep her company. Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals were the support, had never heard of them. Absolutely blew me away with his enthusiasm and every song was so good, sort of soul,funk,R&B,rap sandwich, as fresh as a daisy. Went out and bought Venice and Malibu both brilliant albums. Venice shades it for me. Think it takes me back to the jazz, funk and soul I was into in the late Seventies early Eighties!

Anderson .Paak is a phenomenal talent and Malibu is really something special. There's plenty of hip-hop and R&B artists who've drawn from jazz, gospel, soul and funk but this really isn't hip hop or R&B. .Paak draws from all of these genres in equal measure, effectively creating this new and exciting sound that manages to transcend genre. Malibu sounds both instantly familiar and incredibly unique, like comfort food prepared by a 5 star chef. The moment I heard Malibu I knew that 30 years from now I will love this record as much as I do today.

so glad i meet him. it was 2016 been listening to him since 2014 nxworries days. but it was before malibu dropped he was performing. most people were there waiting on drake. he was just chilling in the side of the crowd. i recognized him said "Hi I'm a fan." he was shocked said he was here for the last 2 artist no one noticed him. we took a pic that is my profile pic. and he went on stage 20 min later and put on a good show
Hopefully Silk Sonic will make him even bigger. He is remarkable

Got a new iPod recently and his first two albums are the first things I put on it! Enough said, this guys albums have never stopped playing since I first heard them. Much respect. Its rare to find an artist these days with such a diverse range of sound. Each track is different from the last but the album works together seamlessly. Go PAAK! Keep up the goodness.
