Here’s my easy set up. Set the speaker configuration to small. Set the crossover on the front two mains at 80HZ. Set the center channel crossover at 10-20 HZ above the speaker rated level. Set the surrounds the same way snd any atmos speakers at 110 to 120HZ. Set the subs to 60HZ on the speaker. This will get a smooth roll off from the fronts set at 80. In the AVR set the bass level to LFE and the crossover to 120. This works very good for low power receivers. I have the marantz NR 1711 at only 50 watts per channel but it works extremely well when not using crossovers at lower HZ. I have the Klipsch Rf26fa towers with Dolby atmos upfiring speaker’s integrated. Running a 5.1.2 setup with two Subs.
I usually set 20-30 Hz above the +/-3dB measurement in the specs. My current bookshelves are rated down to only 100hz, so I set it to 120-150hz depending on placement (boundary reinforcement)
Thank you very much! This is extremely helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Speaker placement is just as important as crossover. Get your centre channel to the outside edge of the cabinet!
I'm new at this stuff. I recently moved the center speaker to the edge of the cabinet only because I was trying to fit the turntable without pulling the wires.
So there it is on the edge until I figure out the final spot for the turntable, I go to watch the movie "Beast", with Idris Elba, and I was surprised at the improvement in sound. The roar of the lions really came to life.
Thanks for the tip.
Forward or back of cabinet towards the wall?
I set my tower 6 0hm yamaha speakers that go down to 30hz to 60htz my yamaha center channel goes down to 50htz I set that to 70htz and my yamaha surround sound speakers that go down to 60htz to 80htz. My yamaha atmos go down to 60hz set to 80 hz Both klipsch Subwoofers at 120 and it all sounds incredible...
I did an auto calibration my fronts audio pro avantek six when down too 40HZ. My center too 100HZ. My surround 120hz. LFE 120hz . Is this a good setup ? or should i bump up my mains too 80 hz ?
I’m using a pair of Wharfedale speakers 9.1 only… for front speakers; along with my pioneer VSX 933; to play CD music and also from RUclips. i have a choice of cross over settings. Either, 50, 80, 150 or 200. But not really sure which setting, to use.

What’s the best crossover frequency for speakers which are rated 1500Hz, 200-1400Hz, 120-1500Hz ?
The lowest number
Thanks 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Great video!! I have a couple of questions. Here is my setup:
Denon 4700
Klipsch R-625FA Dolby Atmos Floor stand speakers
Klipsch RP- 504C II center channel
Klipsch R-41M Bookshelf speakers
Klipsch R-12SW subwoofer
1-What are your suggestions for the crossover settings?
2- What are your suggestions for the db level for all the speakers? This is where I am confused.
I hate to use the phrase as a cop out, but it's true. It depends because it's what's sounds best to you. Have you looked in your owners manual for the manufacturer crossover recommendation?
I have and I used Audyssey for the calibration. Thanks
Did the calibration again and here are the results. Should I change anything?
Front- 40hz
Center- 40hz
Surround- 60 hz
Front Dolby- 90hz
@@coachvelarde Those numbers seem a little low to me. Mess around with them and consistently use the same song, movie or what have you when tweaking. Keep releasing to the same sounds and see what frequencies sound best. At the end of the day it's about what sound good to you. The rest of us aren't in your house judging the numbers you have for your crossovers.
The real question I have is if say you set the cross over to 40 on your front left and right speakers. Do I then set the crossover on the actual sub to 40 too?
No. The sub frequency should be turned up to max. Let the receiver/ processor do the crossing over
when he say look at the speaker manual does that mean where it say RATED FREQUENCY RANGE (HZ) 35hz-50hz?
Yes
my center speaker is Dali Opticon Vokal MK2 the frequency response is 47-30 wich frequency response you recomend, thank you for the attention
47
@Movie University thank you , I will keep 47
Hmm struggling to find where to set my focal aria 926 towers and 900c centre. Any help
I’ve got the same speakers. I’m interested to hear what you set them at an how you find them
The 80Hz that THX puts out is a baseline that nearly every speaker can go to. However, to get the optimal output look up the specs for your particular speakers on the manufacturers website. For instance, my Klipsch right and lefts are both set to 60Hz because that is what Klipsch recommends.
I just get a klipsch rp-504c, its set at 60hz and its not as clear as i was expecting... not sure what to set in some scenes, i can ear background noise
@@danboy3818 could you retype that last night please. i don't understand the question.
What is that subwoofer at the 2:38 mark? That is a beast!
svs pb2000 or 3000
Ahh big fronts put to large and use build crossover. Front goes 60hz. When subwoofer comes i will change all. My fronts can go to 44Hz so when listen stereo no need subwoofer. But will buy svs sb 1000. In small room shoud be OK

Very nice 😎
I have Bose AM-5 series 1 speakers, I need to setup the crossovers for my cube speakers that have no woofer….anyone have any thoughts
Have you looked at the owners manual for the appropriate frequencies?
@@MovieUniversity Thanks so much for you response. I found this in the owner’s manual:
2 6” low frequency drivers, and 4 magnetically shielded wide range drivers in cube speaker arrays.
I know the industry standard is 80hz…So should I raise my crossover to 100-120hz?
I am new to this AVRs n all. Last week i got my Denon X1700H & klipsch refernce R series 5.1. Works great as its a starter set up. I set my subwoofer in 80hz. Inside Avr set into LFE. The default inside value is 120hz. Which one should i go for ? 80 for both or 120 ???
Go to 80
What settings do you have on the reciever? I have the same and Iam a newbie. Do I need to change this cross over stuff defying on my AVR. ? I have subwoofer 1200sw
Calibration the way to calibrate spl meter or auto calibration
Awesome video bro!!
I have a Sony STR HD790 and I still can’t figure it out how to calibrate the levels with my spl specially cause it don’t have the volume scale to set it up at 75 to 80
And when I start calibrating the levels I put my receiver at 0 on the master volume and I don’t get any sound I’ll really appreciate it if you can help me thank you?
Did you figure it out ? Ive got some tips to help you otherwise
@@mivanp2185 no I couldn’t figure it out 😞
@@josephpicado1818 Its just a different scale. So start with your test tone in your receiver . Start F/L and turn your volume to as high as it reads 75db on your spl meter. Then do all your channels the same by adjusting via the speaker level setting for each channel so that they are all reading 75db at the same overall volume level
@@josephpicado1818 I have the similar model. Just bought some new fronts so having to do a full calibration again and came across your comment
@@mivanp2185 thank you so much so this avr goes from 0 to 100 on the volume so turn it all the way up to a 100?
My focal sopra n2 what crossover I can set my processer
you need to look up the owners manual online.
@@MovieUniversitydear sir my. Focal sopra n2 frequency response (33)dB 34Hz-40khz low frequency point (-6dB) 28Hz what crossover I can set my processer
and small or large thank you for cooperation
Thank you
Ok so what if I just have a knob to adjust crossover and it doesn’t say how many hertz?
Is there any kind of number on it at all?
If no indicator then you'll have to keep playing with it til you get what sounds best to you.
I have R25C, R15M Front, and R41M for surround.
Let me know if I understand you correctly.
R25C: 120hz
R41M: 150hz
R15M: 90hz I guess???
The sub is R-100sw, I think 60hz? 70hz? 80hz?
The Klipsh manual should tell you what is the best frequencies.
40 hz is best
set em all at 80 and call it a day
Where can I find the video on “tips on how to best show off your system” please?
Found it: ruclips.net/video/7u6u-URMZEk/видео.html
Whatever happened to Woofers? Just. Woofers. Not everything is a “sub woofer.”
nearly every base playback device for home theaters is a subwoofer.
@@MovieUniversity “Bass.”
@@jukesjointOG yeah yeah, autocorrect, what can i say.
