When Josh Smith hits 3 straight threes, including one step back with a hand right in his face, you know the basketball gods were completely on the Rocket's side.
💯
"he looks like a catapult flinging a burning cow at the rim" lmao! Blake's game is so ugly sometimes.
BBALLBREAKDOWN i think he definitely tries to elevate too much on his jumpshot, or else it would be pretty smooth. its called athletefreak-itis for a reason, guys like blake just dont realize how much they are forcing their bodies to, too much tension
RossardJames HAHA WTF, YOU HAVE A UNIQUE SENSE OF HUMOR, FUNNY AS HELL
+34cvc yeah , you're goddamn right XD !
+34cvc just like westbrook
(I know, late af)
stewie griffin youre right tho
This game pretty much showed that every team in this league lives and dies by the jumper. It's a make or miss league. When Josh Smith is hitting 3's, a 20 point lead is nothing.
vince3139 Yup. When the warriors are making threes, the warriors torch the grizzles, in both game 2 and 3 of warriors against grizzles, the warriors shot 6/26 and lost both of them
vince3139 hou usually doesnt take traditional jumpers, only 3s. as a part of moreyball, but mchale told them to shoot the jumper in this series because lac defended the perimeter well and the rockets are a horrible shooting team. to compensate, they take more attempts and preserve the clock as much as possible. aside from the 3, they focus on transition scoring, free throws and paint shots.
lac is the opposite, great shooting percentage and fewer attempts, they shoot from everywhere and are big in the paint. the change was starting josh smith to guard blake in games 5 and 6. smith is more experienced as a stretch than jones. also, if you watched all the rockets games in the regular season, you would know that this is their usual method of winning when dwight was out.
wellyaok By jumpshots I'm referring to long jumpshots. Nice try at being sarcastic without even understanding my comment. Genius commentator.
wellyaok find some real friends to talk to bro.
wellyaok rofl
your convo with vince3139 is just
Never change Clippers, never change.
Kawhi and PG13 were throwing up bricks in the second half.
Whats the game of the song during the breakdown? Been looking for it forever!
Never change Rivers, never change.
Yea they never change🤣
Yup never changed lol 😂
Its simple the clippers just flat out gave up defensively
***** But I still laughed my ass off.
ssjwes Are you 13 or younger?
***** fake chris smoove or...smoove's brother? :o :o
They didn't give up. They were just shocked as hell to what was happening to them. Rockets D stepped up big as well. It was just a snowball effect.
Mark steers Just like the Packers did in the final 3 minutes of the NFC Championship.
As a Clippers fan this was so hard to watch.
Blake did some dumb things.
Also tired of Jamal Crawford taking some of the worst shots I've ever seen.
Lol Clippers fan...
***** No dumb ass I'm a real Clippers fan I don't like the Lakers in fact I hate the Lakers.
Nah i respect Clippers fans and the team, you guys are givin us a hell of a series. I HATE the Warriors and their fans. Probably a quarter of them weren't fans like 7-8 months ago smh
They're fuckin bandwagoners ridin Curry's dick
***** thank you.
his guy has too much fun making these videos. that comeback music was on point though. Keep up the good work BBBD
slicktheflash haha, thx!
my question is how did josh smith all of a sudden remember how to shoot threes again
***** It goes against all basketball logic J Smoove had only 15 three pointers in his career in the playoffs before this year but made 27 in these playoffs
***** kevin mchale told him to make 200 3's every practice/shootaround before finishing practice. and do it every time in less attempts
Rockets' offense is shoot 3s and drive, Josh was bound to pick up something.
What I like about Harden if you look closely, is that he's engaged and cheering on his teammates as opposed to sulking in a corner.
Yep unfortunately i doubt current Harden would let that fly.
Who's here after Clippers blew another 3-1 lead against Nuggets?
Will review some of these historical choke job footage by the Clippers until Urinating Tree puts out a new video to summarize it all.
Both Game 6's are pretty similar lol
Yup
Who’s here after they came back down 25
A bunch of people. /
To this day it still baffles my mind that the clippers lost this series.
+protectyaneck__ CP3 should leave the Clippers.
Blake Griffin had defensive lapses, when Chris Paul is off he's not as effective.
Bad coaching
It baffles me even more how they just lost this past series to the Nuggets
Why Blake wasn't benched when they were leading by 12? He really needed a break.
Basketball Videos | NBA Videos Because Big Baby and Spencer Hawes are their best big guys coming off the bench lol
+Ron Mexico - Solid underrated point about the drop off from Blake/Deandre and Baby/Hawes.. Doc's mismanagement of their cap made them thin on the bench meaning there was no flexibility on the roster if they wanted to turn to someone else for a spark or to give Blake rest. On the other side of the ball - Houston came back with a roster of almost entirely bench players.
glimmertwin1977 Yeah the Clippers just in general have a really poorly constructed roster if they had lost DeAndre Jordan this season would've been a disaster
Doc was terrible
Watching Deandre Jordan play pisses me off. The guy is just not fundamentally sound and just has athletic ability but extremely low bball IQ.
Harry Mak He is the modern archetype of a stiff.
***** he still has room to grow. his numbers are incredible for his age and will only get better once he develops a post game. remember he has done something only him and chamberlain has done.
Harry Mak He's a lesson in bball iq away from becoming the next Tyson Chandler. He's so damn close...
jerrybronham For now he's the modern day Ben Wallace with more jumping ability.
+Harry Mak ben wallace had iq.... And offense when the team needed it
Josh was on youtube, saw this video and said, "I want to go back to Houston"
That's just awful coaching by the Clippers staff...I mean, Rockets are coming back all quarter and down the stretch ur team is freelancing and exhibiting lack of execution
It seems like Doc has a habit of just letting the bleeding continue until time runs out.
Im happy i found you
Welcome to the conversation! #ImIn
I've watched every single one of your Playoff breakdown videos this season - keep up the great analysis!
Josh Smith is on the ultimate redemption tour right now. Played very well in the Dallas series, and while he's struggled against the Clippers, putting him into the starting lineup seemed to help both him and TJones, who was moved to the bench. Not to mention that Smith and Brewer saved the Rockets' season for at least another game.
If they go to the west finals, i bet Draymond shuts him down..
Elizar Dy I bet Draymond loses the rebound battle and is exhausted early from having to play with physicality against the much larger, yet just as active, Josh Smith.
Unicredlez11 Yup - pretty surprising, but great to have them when they do that!
modetallah Um, have you watched the series versus the pelicans AND the grizzlies? Both Z-Bo and Davis are WAY more physically imposing and are both better players than josh smith.. From what I can see when I watch the games, draymond doesn't seem exhausted.. maybe he will get a little winded, but exhausted, no.
That Josh Smith step back 3 was like a knife in the heart of everyone in staples center
Nice breakdown. Coach, one major coaching blunder that was brought up during the game is when the Rockets called timeout in the backcourt at the 3:59 in the 4th quarter. The Clippers did not press the Rockets after the timeout with only 2 seconds to cross half court. I wonder if the Clippers coaching staff was just not aware of this situation.
Thanks so much Coach I was hoping for this analysis!
kstewart199375 No problem! Thx! #ImIn
amazing breakdown, both of the video and the Clippers
Have seen that game a couple times since does not even look real 😂 ... Great breakdown study alot of your vids ! One of the true only ELITE ones out here ! Been a big fan for years hard to find content with the nuanced detail you ALWAYS give 🙌🏽
Yep Coach Nick you pretty much had the same thinking I did. Blake Griffin was clearly exhausted and the Clippers lost serious composure. Guys started becoming desperate trying to isolate and in the event bad decisions were made. The Rockets just hit a serious hot streak and the momentum was in their favor the entire 4th quarter. It does not help the Clippers bench is underperforming.
***** I'm pretty sure they are performing exactly up to expectation. Let's face it everyone already knows the clippers bench is garbage.
Who’s here after the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead to the nuggets today?
josh smith been a goon, even when hes out of his prime he still clutch
Great breakdown coach! Laugh out loud when i heard the comeback music!
One of the greatest games i ever watched as a Rockets fan
Truer words
nice clear and fun explanation and analyzation bro.
this was spot on analysis..this is why game 7 will be epic...I'm sure the head coach and assistant coaches carefully studied all of this as well and addressed it to the team...
great analysis! subbed
Who's here after they choked game 6 against the Nuggets?
Me sir
Lakers are losing to the nuggets
lony walnut lmao clippers ain’t in the WCF after all that hype throughout the season tuff
@@radboy490 best joke I’ve heard all day
I’m here because I’m having ptsd as a clippers fan 😔
These games always come down to fundamentals and effort, good breakdown
Boris Jones It's amazing, but true
This was as much a coaching breakdown as anything else. And Blake looks spent.
Nice breakdown coach
Great analysis coach! Keep it up. Though I would like your opinion on the Warriors-Grizzlies no call/clean block before Curry's trebuchet shot.
Coach Nick is a real one always keeps it one hunnid
Still hyped from the game!!
I love that rewind 7:30, really shows how disengaged they were.
Compared to the Warriors last night that went cold during the second and third quarter, they still maintained their ball movement and energy, given they have a deeper bench than the clippers.
Great breakdown
Another 3-1 lead 😂😂
8:36 Serious contact? Josh smith jump straight up then block his shoot. If that is serious contact then DJ should have foul out in every game this series.
neirad537 Actually it's not, he very clearly throws himself forwards
neirad537 Hey, you can't ignore there was contact, and Blake was at home...
BBALLBREAKDOWN Yes contact on the top where Smith block the shoot. When Tim Duncan got a game wining block on James Harden the league determine that because Duncan touch the ball before James arm the block is good and the contact after is incidental.
If we go by your criteria DJ probably pick 6 fouls by the 3rd quarter.
Who is here after the clippers blew a 3-1 lead AGAIN?
I'm tellin ya man, when the Rockets play they best basketball, no one can beat them
Koorosh Farahani Nope. I can think of Warriors, Grizzlies, Spurs, Cavs, Hawks, and Bulls to consistently beat them. The key to beating the Rockets as shown in the regular season is to be good defensively and close out the 3 point line. Their offense is predictable but they execute damn well.
All the teams you just mentioned have NO chance of beating the Rockets. The Warriors can give the Rockets a good fight but thats basically it
Koorosh Farahani warriors can give the rockets a good fight? Such a homer thing to say. Nobody on the Rockets other than Dwight can hurt anyone on the Warriors. 4-0 this regular season because Rockets can't contain the perimeter or stop transition buckets.
Exactly, Howard is gonna KILL the Warriors, he's gonna be the key
Chris Paul didn't choke this series away. His team flat out let him down.
Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets forcing a Game 7 after trailing 3-1 to the L.A. Clippers brought me here.
Well done
I think coach is a better cast than the entire of the TNT presenters.
I enjoy the more in depth details about the game.
Thanks, Coach!!
"cue the comeback music." 😂😂
I think on the 360 layup, blake was trying to jump and throw a pass behind him, but didn't realize nobody was open until he was in midair; hence, he had to just throw it up and hope it went in to avoid a travel
They did it again with a new team. Lolz. Basketball God really hate clippers...
I’ll get you banned from RUclips for your use of dots.
Victor Fernandez // Bigdestroyer no
Theres a reason Houston is called #cluthcity
*#ClutchCity lemme help you out there fam
@@jessediaz1705 I’ll get you banned from RUclips for giving him a fraud help. You are gonna be charged with fraud
Hey Coach ! Any chance you can do the euroleague semifinal between csska moscow and Olympiacos? That was a nice comeback by Olympiakos, pretty crazy game... Thanks in advance!
Corey Brewer & Josh Smith oh my god
Houston showed you all wat hard work is about
laysrayslays well there in a position to win now
kyle sutton Hard work? I'm not doubting Rockets work ethic but game 6 was won on two sub 30% 3 point shooters in Smith and Brewer catching fire. Hardly sustainable.
jerrybronham Smith and Brewer, both sub-par 3pt shooters, practiced shooting 3s ever since they joined the Rockets so that they could fit into their offense. That's hard work, and their catching fire is a result of that hard work. Also, don't forget the defensive effort the team showed as a whole against offensive superstars in cp3 and Blake.
Emile Warot and their lackluster 3 point shooting as a result of their technically flawed jumpers didnt do squat against the Warriors. My point is proven that what they did wasn't sustainable.
Wait, what? Then by your logic, what the Warriors were doing wasn't sustainable either, since they relied on technically flawed, inconsistent 3pt and free-throw shooters (Barnes, Barbosa, Green, Iguodala, Speights, etc) all season. They won the championship and got a 67-15 record. So to say that this style of play isn't sustainable is a joke, since they sustained their play throughout the entire season.
Also, you can't just look at a few games (the Clippers and Warriors series) and arbitrarily decide that the Rockets' style of play is "unsustainable"...
You seem to forget they finished 2nd in the *Western Conference* and have not had a losing season record since they started playing this 3pt oriented, analytics basketball a few years ago--the definition of sustainability.
Just because the Rockets lost in the conference finals to one of the best teams in the history of the NBA doesn't make their style of play unsustainable... I don't know what you're talking about.
you gonna do a break down of the euro league finals like last year?
bruh the clippers are cursed
the hawks vs wizards game? i don't have access to nba in my country so i have to watch it through BBalbreakdown
Nice Titanic reference, Coach. Also, I love the siege metaphor.
You are the best haha. Using Victory by P Diddy for the comeback music
I heard "high horns" about 5 times and "the basketball gods" at least 3 times. Two expressions that I hadn't really heard before in a review. Regardless, great BBALLBREAKDOWN!
Whats the game of the song during the breakdown? Been looking for it forever!
2:26 the ole shuffle and look like ur doin sumthing lol
Jokic, Murry, and the whole cLiPpeRs team bring me here ^^
What a game! Hope Rockets can finish it at home.
This game will haunt the Clippers FOREVER... -_-
Clippers will never win an NBA Championship.
they will this year
Devan Nickelson no they will not.
Yes they will clippers is the best you just mad cause lakers will never be good again
Clippers was close to winning it last year but this year its are year go clippers
Devan Nickelson dude the Clippers are choke artists. Every year they "have it" and choke it away. No they will not win a title for a long time.
So much attributed to the "basketball gods" and I am totally on board! Sometimes that really is the only way to describe the crazy highs and lows in a game. Thanks for giving me the ammo to prove to my fiance that my father and I aren't crazy for using the term!
As a Clippers fan I can say that I am disappointing. But nothing can change the past. I know we will do better next year. Props to the rockets fans who are not assholes.
Coach, where do you get all your game film from?
Harden has had the flu past 2 games and got a triple double in one of them and he had more of the flu this game well played by the rockets bench harden still my mvp
Fatigue is finally getting to the Clippers... Pretty sad how it wasn't during the Spurs series considering they're starters played 40 + minutes a game
Christian Acevedo well they played 6 games b4 the game 7 vs spurs but now they play every other day with more games under their belt so that takes a bigger toll
Not at all. The Spurs d put them basically on lock, it was funny to see how noticeably fatigued Blake and Paul were in every 4th quarter.
ohmanyourecool1 they put them on lock that's why the clips won right
Hey Coach, did you see similarities in this 4th quarter for Blake Griffin as game 5 against the Spurs? Although obviously this was exaggerated by blowing a massive lead. Seems like he's just played too many consecutive 40+ minute games with only one days rest and couldn't maintain focus? Maybe worth giving him earlier rest like in game 6 vs the spurs? Or possibly the extra days rest will help?
Can you do breakdowns for the Warriors game 6, Rockets win on game 7, and Hawks call/game 6.
If you're taking a break from making all these videos, its fine. Take your break, just a small request
I knew the Clippers were silently screwed the moment they responded to Houston's run by being stagnant as hell. The fact they were playing hot potato with the ball also meant Houston wasn't afraid and has the rest of the Clipper players on the floor on tilt. Also amazed how it took Rivers until 3 minutes until end of regulation to try salvaging and slowing things down. Considering the Rockets were mounting the comeback at around 9-10 minutes at the 4th quarter while the Clippers were settling for bricked jumpers and rushed shots. A meltdown was happening with the Clippers while the Rockets were taking off.
Harden-less, really cracked me up
5:31 the "floyd mayweather" defense by Griffin
I thought this series was going to be over
Coach can you analyze the 4 final minutes of olympiakos vs cska Moscow
there is no travelling rule in the nba. what a comfort for players.
Hey, Coach Nick! A couple of questions for you. What are your credentials as a player/coach? And do you believe professional leagues coaches/players (such as NBA/NCAA) use your videos to strategize for upcoming games? Or do you think they have figured out their own upsides/downsides to their own plays before you bring them to the public?
These questions are by no means undermining your ability to analyze, I'm just wondering. If anything, these videos helped me personally increase my BBall IQ and become a better player in general. Thanks a lot!
#clutchcity is in full effect. RED NATION!
This guy was bullied by Griffen in high school
Will You do any euroleague breakdowns?
Coach, you should do a breakdown of what every lottery team has to do to make it to the playoffs next year, I would enjoy it since I'm a Denver Nuggets fan :)
Nuggets won the chip
Will you analize the euroleague final 4 coach?
Haven't seen this josh smith in awhile . But since being on the rockets he has been looking like him self .
It's amzing that the Clippers took the Spurs out and now the Clippers are having a hard time with the Rockets. I guess it's more about matchups. By the way, that was good that you showed DeAndre Jordan not getting back on defense. It's that kind of stuff that would drive me crazy if I were a NBA coach. Actually I think I would do like the Spurs coach does and bench guys if they're being lazy. Corey Brewer's hitting 3's? Josh Smith? Who would of thought? Good breakdown. Can't wait for game 7
When (2) 28% shooters from 3 point range essentially ends your championship dreams.
😆😆
Josh smith at 8:12. I can't stop laughing
wow it's amazing that blake's on 80% of the defensive breakdowns in this clip. unless he was injured, there's no excuse in playing this kind of defense in a close out game when they had the game in the bag. doc should really chew him out during their video session. missing layups and passing up wide open shots, i can understand, but not playing defense is just stupid
The clippers had this one in the bag in 3rd quarter. These are games you must win! How can thay expect to win game 7 in Houston? All the momentum is with Houston to pull off a big comeback.
One of Barry McCockiner’s top ten games of the decade.
I never understood why Harden was such a leading front runner for MVP when he is a liability in defence for his team. During the regular season, his team was able to hold opponents to less point while he was on the bench. Harden was the only top 5 MVP candidate to have a negative rating for his team in defence. This game 6 highlighted how much better in "d" the rockets are without Harden. Thats what made a guy like Michael Jordan special he was excellent on both sides of the court, Anthony Davis is on his way also.
As a Celtics fan, I can't help but feel serious deja vu right now. Doc Rivers blew a pivotal game in the Staples Center and he may have lost all momentum in the series because of it. Why does that sound so familiar?
Houston went 12-0 run that's was a game changer. Clippers was stuck at 102pts.
I hope that win opens Harden's eyes and try to share the ball more and take less shots.
Nice
Im still calling for the Hawks vs Warriors for the championship, and it will be the best finalls ever!
"And its quite possible the basketball gods were angered..." LMAO
