Luke is one of at least 8 new characters being worked on by Capcom, he's supposed to be a major protag of SF6. I first saw him in a focus group 2 years ago.
@@chidorisnake22 They did not have gameplay to show us, just character art and their backstory/fighting style. Italian wrestler girl, MMA legionnaire look, black and gold with red hair Drunken fist style, cousin of the twins, yellow outfit. Female Abel, straight up. Mexican girl, Aztec club weapon, green tunic, related to T Hawk? Chinese assassin lady, hair like Sawada from Kengan, black dress uses poison like fang. Also, the reason there was no alpha build was because the game was really early in dev, they had already scrapped the old one that Ono was in charge of.
I might be the only one who feels this way but I like Luke’s design just because I’m a big UFC fan and I like when fighting game characters are designed to look like MMA characters. I like Craig Marduk for the same reason.
Definitely an MMA fighter. His gameplay is almost literally what I wanted Ed to be. He even has a smaller build. I am intrigued. But I mean. Why do most if the American guys have to be blonde dudes. We couldn't make my guy a redhead to change things up. And I mean we have thr precursor to the Striders why not Captain Commando? Lol
I also though red hair, and long hair with black clothes, no tattoos, maybe scars instead with regular proportions would look WAY cooler. Definitely not getting me excited for SF6 character designs
@RunningOnEmpty The issue is that Japan has always been aloof in regards to anything outside of their bubble. That's why you still see particular stereotypes and business practices in their games even to this day. It's not the entirety of Japan, and they've been getting better for some time now, but that's the reason.
Remember that Captain Comando game takes place on Final Fight's future time line. If Final Fight and Street Fighter are in the same universe, so Captain Commando is in it too. Just like Strider.
I really am seeing some Abel in there, the Wheel Kick and Change of Direction if I remember my SF IV right. I think he's pretty cool in general, those moves look slick.
Abel would have been much better but I guess Laura already replaced him, I mean Luke looks like a worst Abel except for his range, but that's not what you expect from a mma-like character (which he isn't tbh although he looks like one), you expect mixups and grabs.

Edit #2: It turns out this is a completely different Luke. Nakayama deconfirmed it on twitter.
Calling it now, this is the young/origin story version of the future SF6 boss. The SF6 version will be older, demon possessed, and cooler looking though.
Not what I was expecting, but I'm intrigued. if this IS a hint of what's to come someday in Street Fighter 6, it makes me genuinely wonder what that game's gonna look like.
The deepest lore(?), at the beginning there he is saying something like i'm going to catch up and surpass you. He is a boxer, I think Balrog has stars in his boxing costume. So: Captain Commando is Balrogs rival/fanboy. Many of his moves resemble both Balrogs and Eds moves.
The only issue with his design is how generic the tattoos are. Given he's meant to appeal to the MMA audience, you'd think they would have had stronger designs for the tattoos.
I'm really hoping that he gets more tattoos in SF6. Tattoos are usually a reflection of someone (whether it's something they like, or related to their past), so I'm hoping his are bland to prevent spoilers to sf6.

Gotta feel bad for the characters introduced in SF4. The only ones of them have been brought forward are Seth and Juri
It sucks too because Abel is one of my favorite street fighter characters
C. Viper would have been such an awesome addition
Decapre was in the story mode if that counts
And even Seth got so heavily redesigned that it's basically a new character lol
C. Viper and Juri are the only popular characters to come out of Street Fighter IV all other characters not even popular besides maybe Gouken but the other ones no C. Viper definitely will be in Street Fighter VI she already have a story set up for her with Q.
He was too busy acting like a maniac he missed them saying Luke’s a new character😂
well if the game never came out isn't he technically new?
Too much coke he was over doing it ....glad u notice as well
Watching this character getting broken down on stream was such a trip.
I'd love if they actually gave him the Luke design from that cancelled Capcom All-Stars game as an alt, though.
that one looks SO much more interesting design wise
Watch, it's the retro outfit or something.
It will probably be a story, or nostalgia costume just to mess with people
The old Luke can be a costume, or the person that he mentions at the start of the trailer, maybe he just use his name, o don't know, but im really hyped for him
He is captain commando
I wonder if Max will ever legit take his family on a fishing weekend sometime

If sf6 goes the way 3 did and introduces a mostly new cast of heroes and villains than I would be very happy.
You'd be alone, such a move hardly works, SF3 was one of the better cases and even then they scrapped fully running with the new gen. And on the other end we have SCV which required an entire REBOOT.
@@Fishman465
Well that's because they didn't add any recognizable characters into the roster originally. Had they added them in from the start, I think it would have done a lot better.
I personally like the balance of old and new, like, if a game has 20 characters, 10 returning and 10 new sounds cool to me
@@Sorrelhas i would like more like 12 new, 8 old, and would like to see old Ryu taking an apprentice and letting him take his place in gameplay, as well as teenager/adult Mel Masters to take Ken's place.
3rd strike actually didn't do that well in terms of sales and stuff. I think if they wanted to do a whole new cast of characters they should simply call it something else otherwise they are going to make SF vets salty again.
After seeing the Capcom All Stars Luke comparison I'm even more confused, if it's not the same character...then why reference him so heavily?!
This dude looks sick and his combos make him even cooler
he does feel underwhelming considering the fact that he is the final character, but he seems like a promising one, decent design, cool moveset, hope people will eventually like him
It's going to be difficult to, they made us wait a year for a secret unveiling of a character whose excitement level should've been estimated to be less than every character revealed before him. I do really wish I could be excited, but the speculation about his reveal I feel overshadowed him in the same vain that it did Decapre back in USF4, and I feel that stigma is going to follow him for a long time

It's so ironic that even though Capcom made Dan to make fun of SNK, Capcom's just going for SNK-style designs. Ken just-not the head-looks like an SNK version of himself, as well as Juri and Seth.

I heard he was referring to Alex honestly
For a character with just shorts, I think they did a really good job with the design, I really like the colours they used.
His projectiles also look great, it's like he's firing a gun.

Buriki and Rick strowd has a baby lol but honestly sf new Dev is actually fan on snk I think like max said has some inspiration of snk character actually cool but man they need to made the character looks better but gameplay wise his like buriki and nelson from kof 14
Luke gives similar vibes to Gai Tendo.
My mindset in order was third party guest -> first party guest -> longtime absentee -> those guys at the start of II -> new character. Still right baby!
Luke is one of at least 8 new characters being worked on by Capcom, he's supposed to be a major protag of SF6. I first saw him in a focus group 2 years ago.
Yo, you were apart of the focus group? Did they have the alpha build of the tag team gameplay? If so, how did it feel?
talk man !! XD
@@chidorisnake22 They did not have gameplay to show us, just character art and their backstory/fighting style. It's been a while so the full backstories are foggy but here's the list of the others besides Luke:
Dandy Russian with psycho power, orange/peach colored suit
American Ninja black girl, rollerskates, orange hoodie, black pants, blue highlights, earbuds.
Italian wrestler girl, MMA legionnaire look, black and gold with red hair
Drunken fist style, cousin of the twins, yellow outfit.
Female Abel, straight up.
Mexican girl, Aztec club weapon, green tunic, related to T Hawk?
Chinese assassin lady, hair like Sawada from Kengan, black dress uses poison like fang. Might have been a rival or from a different clan?
They also talked about redesigning the default outfits for Ryu, Gief, Chun, and Cammy, so those characters are confirmed for SF6.
Like it too and I’m maining him next for this same reason. His fighting styles reminds me of BJ Penn minus the fireballs
I thought the same thing about him when I first saw him. “Is this a KOF character?”
Can't wait for Desk to do some fun combos with these characters
Definitely an MMA fighter. His gameplay is almost literally what I wanted Ed to be. He even has a smaller build. I am intrigued. But I mean. Why do most if the American guys have to be blonde dudes. We couldn't make my guy a redhead to change things up. And I mean we have thr precursor to the Striders why not Captain Commando? Lol
I'm a blonde latino so get used to not being represented.
The Japanese' stereotypes for Americans is that they're white, blonde, and generally either muscular or fat, no in-between
I feel like to japan its the most noticeable american stereotype to them? (Soruce: Allmight ultimate american weeb lul)
All I’m saying is they better not forget about these new characters in the next game….
Hopefully they do.
@@TheCaptainhowdy11 Lukes def the protag of 6

I really am seeing some Abel in there, the Wheel Kick and Change of Direction if I remember my SF IV right.
I think he's pretty cool in general, those moves look slick.
I kinda noticed that also, I used to main Abel!
noticed this too. he even has the tape on his nose where abel had a scar.
Abel would have been much better but I guess Laura already replaced him, I mean Luke looks like a worst Abel except for his range, but that's not what you expect from a mma-like character (which he isn't tbh although he looks like one), you expect mixups and grabs.
"Someday, I want to become a man like him."
Am I the only one who think's he's Guile's son? Goofy blonde hair, dog tags, American, and his projectiles looks like Sonic Booms...
Guile doesn't have a son, he only has 2 daughters.

Guile don't have any sons. My guess would be that he could be charlie's son from an unbeknownst woman.
Guile doesn’t have a son UNTIL they tell us he has a son lol that’s all stuff they can make up on the fly all they gotta say is Guile has a long lost son or whatever twist they want to create
Sean (Ken) Sakura (Ryu) Luke (Guile) and the twins or a new Chun-li would be the main faces for SV6 that is after SF3 aaaand Capcom would sell the og characters as DLC later.

I really, really like how hard Luke hits, he kind of reminds me of a mini Bakugou, the way he can launch little explosions or blasts of kinetic energy with his attacks
I was actually one of many in the stream during Max's initial reaction, and I shared his similar sentiment. After some time to really look at Luke, his design is kinda starting to grow on me. If he becomes the Ryu/Alex of SFVI, I think it's rather fitting for him. That being said though, I cannot wait to get my hands on him simply because his gameplay style is really intriguing. A true MMA fighter in Street Fighter V has been long overdue imo. Just make his role in the lore interesting and I'll be happy.

Literally screams that he's related to Guile, the star at the beginning and his tattoo
