You always do an amazing job on your embellishment clusters, especially that rusty old pickup! 😉 Shortly after that Seasonal Haul stamp came out I was seeing great old trucks everywhere I visited…Farmers Markets, our small town plaza, flower picking farms, harvest festivals…inspiration was everywhere!
Thank you so much and you are very welcome. I love how you added the "rust" to the truck, so clever! We used to have an old 49 dodge, I need to find the photos and use this stamp to document them.

You are very welcome. It may not be an ideal way to recreate the diagonal strips due to the issue I encountered but the end result is the same and that's what matters right?
@@CraftyConceptswithErin I suppose you could cut the triangles and make some of the cuts on the paper trimmer, (the ones that fit diagonally) -especially if you are “faking” the strips by not adding paper behind the photo matt area! Fun challenge! Turned out great!

Hello and happy new year! I’m so glad you are inspired to create this layout. I loved it so I was happy to figure this one out. I agree, it is not the same as having it in your hand. CTMH will give you one free catalog for each new catalog released. When you place an order you just need to add it before checking out. I believe they add to the cart automatically, but just make sure it’s there.
Love everything about this layout! ❄️The picture of you is an awesome photo😊. Thank you so much for figuring this out and sharing you ur DS cute file. This is a pretty collection and very nice colors. What is the name of the plant with the red berries in your photo? TFS
Thanks so much Ella, this layout was a fun challenge. The plant with the red berries is called a Paul's Scarlett Hawthorn, it has pretty dark pinkish red flowers in the spring.
Thank you Brandi, I’m so glad you enjoyed the layout. I actually purchased my bin from a hardware store but I looked on Amazon and these are almost exactly the same dimensions amzn.to/3C8DAWg
Question - I'm new to Cricut DS. Do I need to cut down my paper before putting it on my cutting mat and cutting with the Cricut or does the cut file do all that work as well? Thanks for the file!
Hello, the Cricut will cut each piece from a 12x12 paper but you can edit the pieces and move them around on the mat if you are trying to cut from a smaller piece of paper. It’s difficult to put into words but hopefully that is making sense.
Hello, right at 11:25 I am holding a Ranger ink blending tool handle and attaching a foam circle to ink up the edge of my papers. Is that what you are referring too? It would be this item here erinjacobson.closetomyheart.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=14287
Ok. Not really good with how to save or keep the Cricut cuts to use on my machine. I love this and have no idea how to save this for later. Can anyone help
Hello, you can open up the design space link as click edit, from there save the project and you will be able to locate it under your stuff in Cricut. You have to be signed into your design space account.
I used the cricut file but my pieces don’t seem to be the right size. The first triangle seems too small for next piece. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong??
I used the square shape and slice tool to make it. I began with a 11.5” square as my base. Then I altered the measurement of another square to be 3 inches wide by however many inches long to span across the page at a 45° angle. I then used another square to layer over the portion I did not want. When you click slice it will cut the pieces where they are layered and you can remove the unwanted portion. It takes a little practice getting to know the slice feature but it sure is handy.
Hello Heidi! I used the square shape and slice tool to make it. I began with a 11.5” square as my base. Just wondering if you could cut 12” strips of paper, except for the corners, then cut the ends on a angle?? Has anyone tried that? An exacto knife & me are not very good friends. Lol..
Exacto knives can be tricky! Do you mean cut them 3x 12 inches straight down and then turn them to create your angles? If so it would work for the outer pieces but not the two in the center. They are much longer than 12 inches
It seems the square size in the beginning was different than what you explained. Did you mean 1/4 or 1/2 on edges? Placing the square to the bottom instead of centering it on the mat would be why it didn't work out perfectly. You used the 3,6,9 marks to make angles which was not even with square not in the middle. I hope that makes sense. Nice layout.
My goal was to have a 1/4” margin around the edges which is what the end result was. I knew there would be much smarter approaches to tackling the design especially from my crafty friends that sew and quilt. You could definitely try placing it in the middle but would still have to alter it in the end because by the time you added the spaces in between it would still be off. It was design space to the rescue for me. I wanted to show my struggles in the video and how to get around them. I’m glad you enjoyed the layout.
That is a good question. Two ideas pop into my mind, one being a mirror image but have the diagonal stripes going the opposite direction. The second I envision still having the strips but maybe only half the layout while the right side of page 2 is solid cardstock where the photos and embellishments would go. The diagonal stripes could cover even less than half of the second page. Basically just enough to tie them together
I do not own a cricut so I would be doing it by hand, however unlike you I would not have cut the strips but I would have drawn lines on the paper & made my pattern first & then I would have cut later. I am a dressmaker & so never cut until I have done a hand drawn sample pattern first as it can be costly if you cut before you are 100% correct in your copy. It looks nice but to be honest not as pleasing to the eye as the original because you have your papers all cut in a uniform size. I have my book in front of me & I have drawn lines across the picture finding the centre of the page so that I have four equal quarters & so then you can see that the top triangle is a lot bigger than the bottom one. The striped strip is the widest, followed by the narrowest bringing it to the top right corner, the leaf pattern finishes over in the bottom corner section followed by the triangle. I would then draw my lines leaving white space between each set of strips until I was happy with the result, then I would number the strips & cut them out & they would become my pattern pieces which I would bag & keep for a future project. It is the uneven width of two of the stripes that makes the eye happy with the final look.
I am sure your dress making skills come in handy for paper crafting. I do not have any seamstress skills at all and math hurts my brain unless it is an equation I use frequently. Making the strips uniform was the easiest way for me to create a layout others could replicate. Great idea to draw them put and create a pattern.
Hi, you could avoid cutting them in the middle simply by not reduce the page: you cut all your diagonals from a 12 x 12 sheet, then you cut just the middle pieces that are too long.
You might be able too, I am sure there are more precise mathematical approaches yielding the perfect result compared to my scenic route (lol). You would end up having to trim some of the pieces as I think your final triangle would end up off, but maybe not.
Wouldn't your template have to be 11 1/2 x 11 1/2 to have a quarter inch on each side? You've twisted my brain here. Maybe it's just too early for me. However, the finished product is beautiful.
You are correct and the design space file was designed that way. To cut it by hand I started smaller because of the spaces in between when you spread them out. when I asked for help some even suggested started with a 10" square. It may work to start with 11.5 but you will still have to cut the pieces and alter them in the end to account for the margins between the diagonal strips. I'd have to try with the 11.5 and see what happens. Like I said, angles hurt my brain 😂
I couldn’t agree with you more about everyone should a group of scrapbook friends that they can consult with to help them figure things out. ❤
Haha, yes, every crafter needs a group.

Great layout!
Thank you Jennifer! Merry Christmas!
