I rode the Himy 450 over the weekend at a R.E. Demo day and really liked it - except for the ergo's/seat. At 6'2" with a 35" inseam I found it too uncomfortable. I found myself sitting between the rider & pillion seat with a slight downward slope - not good! - even for a 20 minute test ride. Note: the test bike I rode had a stock seat in the highest setting, so I doubt the touring seat would change enough in regards to the position. I will say that other riders loved it - and I really wanted to. I was prepared to buy one that day. I left disappointed.
It's great to hear that you enjoyed the Himalayan 450 overall, even if the ergonomics didn't quite fit your frame. it's something many taller riders might face. While the stock seat in the highest setting didn't work out, there might still be room for customisation with aftermarket options, like seat risers or custom-built seats tailored to taller riders...
What you said about the lazy ride by wire that you feel at stop and go traffic, that's my one gripe with this bike. I don't own one, just test rode it for a while and I want to buy it, but damn, that thing is annoying
Every motorcycle is unique in its own way, with its own distinct features and characteristics. However, like anything else, each also comes with its own set of flaws. PS: Not a RE fan boy. :D
The frame breakages reported all had one thing in common. The owners had fitted aftermarket protection bars which attach at the top engine mount. All had failed to tighten the connections correctly, they came loose and overstress other parts of the frame.
@@davidbesant True, but the point is why these things happens only with RE? most of the time when something fails, be it Him 452, 411 they put it on the customer. Where as in the same category (+/-100) KTM, BMW, Suzuki never have these kind of quality issue. Even for some people the switches to control the dash are failing and company is saying 'You were riding in heavy rain' How does this sound? 😅
