His ringing squillo is everywhere, so so handsome, poetic. Wow, it has been the dearest voice among all the giants. Beautiful lyric tenor! Love love and Bravo!
An absolutely thrilling and fresh sound is Jose's ! Oh how wonderful he sounds here in his very younger days, What a TENOR!!! Thank you Taylor, and YOU TUBE too!
I'm running out of superlatives for these early Carreras recordings. Donizetti, Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Cilea... all made his own, and with the same spun-gold quality and fire in his phrasing.
for this aria, and Jose at that time, before 1980's, lyric tenor, the King. Still is, probably, also love Neil Schicoff's voice, very close each other.
Young Carreras had a voice that was absolutely stunning ( no better adjective to call it). Unfortunately, too much loud singing and a precarious health exerted their toll on this brilliant tenor. You must hear his young voice to marvel at such beauty.
Lovely, but he never commanded the wonderful mezza voce of his model di Stefano, which is really needed in this aria. When he tries at the end it’s falsetto-y.
Just stunning. One of the best!
Who could dislike such a stunning rendition?
What a fraseggio, what a legato! This is vocal glory, come on!
Carreras has plenty of Nay sayers sadly judging him from post cancer treatment. This recording is flawless,
Muy.buena interpretacion
NOW,I can die in peace.
Love Carreras, his stunning and angelic voice!
I heard him sing this at the Met in 1978. He had a beautiful voice with an impressive amount of volume. A bigger voice than Pav's or Domingo's.
È verissimo! Finalmente qualcuno che lo dice! 👍👍👍

We love you CARRERAS
SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT- no-one better than this.

mamma che bravo! Che bella voce aveva Carreras!
what a wonderful voice he had when young and before the dreaded cancer. thank you Tube
I thought Jussi Bjorling had the most incredible spinning legato line I've ever heard until I came across this Carreras recording. WOW!!!
The brilliant voice of a very young Carreras ! beautiful !!

I was at a few of these Elisir performances in SF. Jose was in a class by himself.
yes Ed you're right! Jose was also brilliant in his live recording of La Boheme with Ileana Cotrubas from 1976! Gorgeous!

какъв голям, стабилен и прецизен глас. чест и похвала.
grande carreras!
Magnífico, simplesmente!
Não haverá outro Carreras nem por magia . Enorme e único. BRAVO!!!!!
Greater than them all here. Even greater than Pav. Good one. Thanks.
I'm agree! 👍
he should stay at this tecnic and liric singing when he was young
APOTEOSICO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🎶🎶❤❤❤❤😃😃😄😄🤗🤗😄😄🤗🤗🤗🤗😃😃❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beginning of the end, too much power already.
Почему на пол-тона выше?
The recording doesn‘t sound spead up... is it really possible he chose to sing it in b-natural?!
Una voz bellísima antes de meterse en repertorio más pesado y cargarse la voz. De todas le falta un poco más matización de variación en el canto.
he sounded like di stefano when he was young both of them ruined their voices ovr time sad

...NO...
