Una furtiva lágrima es el aria que me enamoró de la ópera. Antes me gustaba... pero un día vi en TV . Y quedé tildada!!! Para siempre enamorada!!! ¡¡¡por favor!!! sin ánimo de competencia Pavarotti-Carreras y otro muchísimos maravillosos tenores que, ¡¡¡gracias a Dios!!! cantaron para nuestro deleite. Es sólo por compartir aquel momento mágico -como me gusta llamarlos- en que solas, con mi tía Miría, nos miramos las dos con la boca abierta y lágrimas en los ojos.

Cuando ví esta película a principios de los 90 me encanto por su guión tan romántico y casi epico, las arias de opera más bellas y preciosas composiciones del gran músico Anton García Abril excelentemente interpretadas por el gran José Carreras está película me introdujo en el mundo de la opera que es hermosísimo.....bravo..bravo...!!!!

I don't know if it's been released in english but the situation here is the following: the result of the performance is in Gayarre's hands but just before going on stage he learns that his mother has died through a message on a paper, so he begins to sing and his voice expresses all the pain of such a sad feelings. At the end he's succesful and the critics say that that was the best tribute possible to a mother died.
No termino de disfrutar el play-back, pero sin duda José Carreras es una gloria de España. Me parece que esta aria fue mal elegida para esta escena, porque no es un aria triste sino todo lo contrario, Nemorino no cabe de felicidad porque se dio cuenta que la furtiva lágrima de Adina fue por él.

Por los testimonios que tenemos del arte canoro de Gayarre, poco tenia que ver su canto con la emisión abierta y descarnada a la Di Stefano que tiene Carreras. Aparte la zona aguda de Gayarre era extraordinaria, mucho más extensa y fácil que la de Carreras. Eran tenores en concepto muy diferentes.
@alfonsorama1, queria decir 'a ver'. Y abundando en el tema. Hay maneras de meterse y 'despreciar' a los grandes tenores. Cada uno tiene sus simpatias y hay que respetarlas, nos guste o no. Hay mucho 'anti' y poco criterio serio. Tampoco se puede estar dando listas de '30 tenores mejores que' a diestro y siniestro para contraponer cada vez que se mencione a Domingo o Pavarotti. Estos dos para mi entre los 5 o 10 de la historia, te pongas como te pongas, que te veo venir. Hay que joderse¡

Well I'm not hearing what you are. This Aria is for a lyric tenor so should not been blasted - this is from a film and is beautiful but there are recordings on you tube of him singing this live on stage in the opera it is from which are out of this world. He was considered one of the best lyric tenors in the world. For me he is the very best.

I don't think it is an average voice it was considered by everybody in the opera world in the 70's and early eighties as exceptional. You don't win the Palma Verdi singing contest by being average. He sang on all the great stages. Was beloved by some of the most famous sopranos of his time Caballé, Scotto, Ricciardi, Nielson,Te Kanawa, Strattas, and the wonderful mezzo Baltsa. He is very different from Corelli who was much more dramatic not at all what this Aria calls for. I like Corelli his Calaf is probably the best ever. As for Lanza I love him but he is movie star not an opera star as you say but I still watched all his movies. As for Pavarotti he doesn't move me like Carreras but again in his prime it was a great voice just not my cup of tea

La envidia hacia Kraus continúa hoy en día. Basta ver como Ramón Gener, siendo español,elude reconocer su valor en sus programas de ópera. Ni lo menciona en el dedicado al belcanto ni en el de Rigoletto (!!!) Y sólo le vi una pequeña referencia al hablar de tenores.

Antes de la leucemia ya tenía graves problemas de emisión, tenía una mala técnica. En la grabación de Poliuto, antes de la enfermedad por ejemplo ya se le notaba el declive vocal, tirantez en el registro agudo Y abuso del falsete en lo sobreagudos . Si no hubiera sido por el espectáculo lamentable de los tres tenores, que por cierto eso no es arte ni opera, Carreras no hubiera tenido la popularidad que tiene, no confundas la popularidad con la calidad artística. Fué un tenor imitador de Pippo y con los mismos fallos técnicos que él, por ese motivo tuvieron los dos una carrera corta en plenitud.
