I was in a really bad car accident last September and hit my head in three places obviously causing a traumatic brain injury. I went through 7 months of appointments just like this and had to learn how to speak again. I was having the same struggles you were Betsy, where I was slow with it and I was tripping over my words but it was every word. I couldn’t come up with words. Obviously I’m much better, I still struggle every day and will probably always have the chronic headaches I have and will always exhaust myself with remembering literally anything but I’m just thankful to God to be alive and that I was able to get the help I have gotten. It’s horrible. It really is... I’ll never be the person I was before or will be able to build on what I was before but again I’m just grateful to God to be alive and to have gotten the help I have gotten. Better days are ahead Betsy. You are so strong. Your whole family is strong. My concussion took a tole on my whole family and my friends. It’s hard, it’s frustrating but better days are ahead!!

I was in a car crash two years ago and I had a pretty gnarly concussion. They told me I had a neuromuscular deficit and I can kind of tell it’s never really healed. So even in my day to day I still feel lots that have been untreated. I so wish this was in Kansas and that it was more financially accessible! So happy to see this was something that helped Betsy and soon to help Gentry!

I’m wondering if they have treated military vets. My son served in Iraq and Afghanistan and suffered multiple head injuries, including a fractured skull. Any info would be most helpful. Betsy & Gentry, thanks so much for posting this vlog! It gave me a sliver of hope as to why I've been feeling and acting the way I have the past 4 1/2 years. I tripped on a dog's chew toy right onto concrete. It happened so fast (without the use of my hands as they were full of groceries) that I fell right onto the front of my head! Your symptoms were so spot on to mine. I had my husband watch the vlog with me and I just cried because I actually had someone who backed up how I felt. Thank you for this information! You and Gentry were prompted to get this information out!! 😊💗😊

I’m so glad your healing. I really needed to see this. I too had a TBI from a car wreck in January and just now doing different testing but I did not know this was a option! I’m in Utah as well (Hurricane) so I’ll look into this.
I really thought I was losing my mind, not knowing that forgetting my words etc were from my concussion until recently.
Thank you for this video. God bless you!

Betsy described my brain perfectly!! I was in a car accident 3 yrs ago, my kids were with me as well, and I had a pretty traumatic neck injury. I had a vertebrae compressing my spinal cord. It was so bad that no spinal fluid was able to pass that area. I also had an undiagnosed concussion, among a few other injuries, and for months had debilitating headaches!! I finally mentioned something to my neurosurgeon about my headaches and thinking they may have been caused by my neck injury and he said no it’s most likely from the concussion. I explained to him no one ever told me I had a concussion and I’d been to several doctors. I still get terrible headaches, stumble on words, completely forget what I’m saying in the middle of a conversation, forget words ALL of the time and am just exhausted all the time! I also can’t really handle more then one thing at a time or else my head just starts spinning which is not like me at all. I’m a former preschool teacher and used to have to handle a bunch of things at a time. It’s just truly been awful!! Thank you so much for posting this video and I really hope it continues to help you improve.

Thanks so much for sharing! I have fibromyalgia and I have serious problems with my brain from it. My sons and daughter in law have learned how to fill in the blanks for me. I seldom go any where or have interactions outside of my family, because it is so embarrassing to me. I also become overwhelmed in stores, for instance. There’s just too much all at once. I would love to do that, though I think even that would be overwhelming to me. ( I now have anxiety also. Which is another, I told them, when the doctor said that, I do not have anxiety!! But I do! It’s not always what we think it is.) wishing you guys all the best! God knows and He has you!

I have brain damage from when i was born. I was 23 weeks early with my twin. The cord was stuck around my neck so so they got her out first, but because i lost so much oxygen i ended up passing away 12 times. Which caused alot of damage to brain. I really do wish they had a place like this years ago. Then maybe i could've had help. Even though i went to school and highschool i feel like i wasn't taught anything. I still don't even know basic things like how to tell the time on a clock or remembering such important things or learning to not shut down when im trying to learn something new. Im so happy she is getting help, and seeing this i hope it helps others. I'm now 24 almost 25 this year and my son is 10 months everyday i worry about teaching the things i still don't understand. But then i know I do have help around me like my partner. I know everything will be okay. I'm so proud of her. Especially talking about something so sensitive like this. I pray for the best recovery for you.🙏💕

I have this so bad and I dont think it is just from your concussion, I think it is from the shock of what you have been through. I went through a really bad time after losing my husband, 2 years later losing my brother and then ending up in a controling and violent relationship, I ended up with PTSD and this is how my brain is now. Simple words I have always been able to spell, I can't remember or I really have to think about it.

Fantastic results. I know what you mean about a word being right on the tip of your tongue but you can't come up with it. I watch a lot of quiz shows with my brother from the internet like Only Connect, which gets you thinking outside the box, University Challenge which has some very difficult questions and I'm glad if I can answer a few per show, and The Chase Australia. I take B12 5000 mcg which was doctor prescribed but it really makes a big difference in coming up with answers seemingly out of the blue. I also stay well hydrated with the Liquid IV powder I get from Costco. It helps a lot with leg cramps I was getting from medication I'm taking. I wish you all the best and stay well.

I have had 8 ( yes eight) concussions with prolonged positive loss of consciousness with each one and I wonder what my test would say! None of those head injuries/concussions were my fault. The first one happened when I was 3 and a swing set fell on my head. Freak accidents, all of them. Never noticed any deficits though, have gotten through my life pretty well. It's interesting what can happen. I hope they can help you Betsy and that you can overcome the troubles you are having. Bless you

Betsy I know how you feel. My issues started after a stroke. I can sound like in drunk, I could be in mid sentence and stop dead and totally forget what our conversation is, to forgetting a word I want to use. Friday a week ago on a Friday morning just so happened my husband was home due to exposure to covid. I’m very high risk for covid he would bring me a drink, due to my risk level he wore a mask and sterile gloves. So the 23rd he saw me coming out of the bathroom and went back to the bedroom and hubby brought me a drink. I was telling him I had to go to the bathroom I was sitting on the foot of the edge of the bed. He would help me up and I would fall back on the bed. Mind you i wear a wrist and hand brace also a full leg brace from upper thigh to my toes on my left side. He supposedly called 911 because i was mentally and physically in a coward spiral. Saturday I remember fighting with a nurse because I wouldn’t keep the nasal oxygen on. She kept telling me I’m going to have to put the c-pap back on. she kept telling me I was in the hospital because your lips were blue and flailing around. And my husband couldn’t wake me. I could only open 1 eye partway . It was about 30 hours since the 911 call. I was in critical care in the ER with a physician at my side until about 7pm I was moved. As I was waking more I was still asking what happened. I remember opening a box of real beef bones containing for my dogs on Thursday. So I remember opening a package for the dogs bones and Friday totally unconscious and a large part of Saturday unconscious or not making sense. I like you had an incredible memory one place I worked I was called the phonebook and could recall conversations work for word even a week later. I have an Irish temper that would pop up after the stroke for the reasons like you. I would get emotional due to my brain being scrambled, as well as the level of functions I lost. At home I can get around with a big walker and if I had to go anywhere I had to be pushed in a wheelchair. Lol if I tried using the wheelchair I would go in circles. Had a medical scooter that was cheap and died. I am so happy you are getting better and didn’t notice any deficits when talking I bet you are thanking god! I’m known for my funny side I should go to an open mic and doing standup comedy I said I can’t stand. I go to doctors appointments and the receptionist says you can take a seat I said I’m fine I brought one with me. I have a therapist for ptsd and major depressive disorder. They try to get me out of the house and do something like a movie or lunch. They help me get to and in the car and we head out. Once on the move they ask what I want to do I say that I want to go rock climbing. They’ll be driving it takes a minute to who I am and that’s impossible and they crackup sometimes invoking tears. They had my drivers license revoked, I was told I can apply for my permit now but can’t get to classes for driving and modifying my vehicle. Was told it’s close to $2,500 just to actually get my license back.. Where I live we have no sidewalks. Anyway sorry so long. But before I go I totally get Mikes comedic moments and could see him saying go rock climbing. I know after 5 and a half years my brain won’t get better. but yours did I’m happy for you. If I was you I would tell people I played the net in volleyball and the server was hitting my head too many time, did you know the brain is not supposed bounce from side neither did my server. With me I say stroke brain. When I want to make people laugh, I ask if they ever saw the stroke Barbie. I take my arm brace off that makes hand drop and start moving that arm and move it side to side with my other hand. I love you and your family and now the Johnson’s. Tell Gentry I want to see him running on the nordictrack treadmill to my house I really need one for PT on my right side to get more strength back. I would love walking on a beach again not to mention there’s nothing good tv or I have seen whatever it is and their reruns.❤️👍🏼✌🏼. Mike🦃 Betsy💐. Lol

That really makes me wonder because I’ve had several seizures in the past where I hit my head pretty hard and then over the last two years started sleepwalking to a point where I’ve hit my head many many times during that process and what used to be a perfect memory is now shot. I get overwhelmed very easily where I never did before. I’ve gone from someone who always had a good temperament to someone who gets upset and aggravated pretty easily
( which I don’t like to admit) I guess I’ll look into it and see if they have anything available in Florida

You guys should really watch the amount of aspartame you drink with all the sugar free soda. It really does lower your brain function and memory. My grandma has horrible dementia for years now, and it doesn't run in our family at all, but I can tell you she drank diet coke every day for decades. Better to drink small amounts of sugar than large amounts of unnatural chemicals
