In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to tie dye an eight color spiral with a black back using procion dyes from Dharma. This fold is great for beginners or seasoned professionals.

Thank you, Arthur. I love the black stripes too. I use Raven Black a lot. The first few times I did the black back it was extremely terrifying, but once I saw the results I was hooked. ❤️🌈

You did an amazing job on this one. It’s so bright!! 😎 You put the black on and I got really scared that it was going to be ruined. Why doesn’t get ruined? The black stripes are dope AF!
You crack me up AF! 😂 Thank you!! So it’s kinda hard to explain without drawing a picture,,, but the shirt is folded, right, there is a top of a pleat and a bottom of a pleat. The black skims one side of the pleats. That’s why I flip it back over so the black doesn’t have time with gravity to take over the other colors. That’s probably not the best explanation, but I tried. Just play around with it and you’ll understand better with trial and error. 😉❤️🌈
Steph, this is so pretty! How do you get your colors SO bright?! Everything you make is so vibrant. I like the white. I think it works, just like you said.
Thank you so much! I use Dharma dye & urea. I batch in 70 degrees or above. Since it’s warmer the dye reacts with the fibers in 24 hours. I think the urea helps the dye stay moist so it stays active. I’m not sure my colors are brighter than anyone else’s I per se, maybe just certain combinations seem that way. The white 😬... normally not a fan, but like I said, it works in this situation. ❤️🌈

@@BelladonnaDyesCo I like when there are some white pauses in the shirt. The main reason I started getting into learning tye-dye is because I would send off t-shirts to a tye dye company and pay for them to dye . I got so frustrated with this because I would specifically ask, "rainbow sprial, with SOME white." For some reason I would get NO white. So I started doing my own shirts, and I gift most of them. 💜 Keep going, because I am still learning THANK YOU ❤
@@kathrynpearse3245 I see no end in this obsession at the moment. No worries. I’ll keep making tutorials as long as people keep tuning in. I started the channel to give my poor mother a break. Every day I was like “look at me” (remember when we were little) This is an outlet to share my creations and hopefully help others along the way. I’m not a fan of white... I rarely go for it, but I’m trying to become more opened minded about it. I could see where a company would be fearful of leaving white because they are trying to give the customer the full bang for their buck. You know, tie dye is unpredictable. ☺️❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo On every other design except for the (white or black accent) spiral, you should have full saturation . I am going to try to make this particular shirt, I love also the black accents, but I might do a dress. And all the best to you and your Mom.
🦅It is a beautiful shirt and I love the iridiscent colors in the rainbow pattern too. The white also to me blends and works well with the overall color scheme so no need to be disappointed. You did a gorgeous job!😉
