I have bought SC Forged Alliance CD years ago, could I install FAF and is FAF compatible to the CD format? I have Steam account but I never play the game in the Steam.
That's a great question, I think you have to link the game to your Steam account in order to play. It's not too difficult, and it doesn't cost anything. You can also head over to the FAF Discord to make sure, because I'm not very familiar with the CD version. Your original CD code can be entered into steam and it will give you the steam digital version for free. This has been the case for many years. It really is a unique RTS game with no equal.
btw FAF began not on empty space. Comunity asked developers to fix bugs, but devs didn't realease any patches (only 1 major patch was released) Then community made their own patch and asked developers to implement it into the game and they refues (that actually might be good cause changes were drastic) Then pirate version players actually picked up commnity patch and played that on official community they took part that was changing balance, removed drastic changes and added changes to the game vya mod, so you could play better balanced game on official servers. Then they added machmaking and leaderboards that would work parralel to official servers or on top of them. Then some other thing was created to play ladder with new patch-mod. patch mod was getting balance updates. game lobby got updated as well. FAF took balance from patchmod and took some other work too, like lobby changes. so you can kinda say that developmen happened already before FAF was started. And on top of that just wanted to say that FAF started working before official servers shut down, so it was before game appeared on steam. When game appeared on steam they used community patch that has drastic balance changes, so steam version does have some critical bugs fixed but it is still FAR FAR behind and balance is crazy there
FYI the steam stats are actually not what they seem, only in the last year has FAF had the functionality/integration with steam to tell steam that you are playing Supreme Commander when you have FAF open. On one of the FAF patches it did this automatically with no user controls, on more recent ones there are options to turn this off. All in all the steam stats for number of players are completely unreliable because of this.
I just wanted to play seraphim campaign.....preferably by myself....wait, "Nomads"?! looks like fun....., as I've already whacked UEF and other sides several times.
Love faf Could you make a quick tutorial on how to play faf in Lan? I can't find a way to do it on windows and would love to play some games with friends here when the internet is under bombardment (Ukraine rn. Can be tough)

@@TheGreenSquier yeh I saw threads as well and even the faf discord, some guy told me to open the game files from the faf launcher. With screenshots. But idk it seemed he was on Linux, and my faf folder has no *.exe that launch the game.... Very odd situation. Wonder if it's just because I'm on windows that faf didn't create the same files on install?
@@mironbarabakh5970 if you go to windows start menu and type in %programdata% (yes with the percent things) then there should be a FAForever folder inside that a bin folder inside that the ForgedAlliance.exe file. Alternative method of getting there: after launching faf as normal, go to the settings tap in the top right corner (left of news) and click on show data folder.

I bought my copy of supreme commander at gamestop.
And when I added it to steam, with the code, I got forge alliance for free
