People saying "NASCAR Died when Dale Died" is just straight up disrespectful. The reasons why NASCAR died becuase of Brian France.
AGREED !!! 🔥🔥
True that, it's annoying as hell.
2001-2003 post dale sr accident was good. After brian france took over , its going downhill from there. I know that some peoples are saying 2011 and 2014 were good but what the hell why its keep getting downhill season after season from 2015-till his resignment
I never understood how they could be serious with the Dale stuff when NASCAR peaked in ratings in 2005, 4 years later 😭
Exactly
Being a NASCAR fan is like being in a "love-hate" relationship.
More like a toxic relationship.
more like an abusive relationship
@@Marlock2199 I thought of that as well
after covid hit
I love the “NASCAR died when Dale died” people because NASCAR hit high ratings in the mid 2000s
yeah because Junior inherited the fans
Then went off a cliff lmao stupid comment
Yeah it doesn't make sense to say.
As a fan who’s home track is Talladega I agree with this completely, went accidentally to the Boulevard last year… I forgot I was in the middle of a race track for a second.
Forgot about the IMSA fan as yes they tell you that NASCAR owns IMSA so it counts
Number 3 is definitely me, I always skip school or say I can't work when it's nascar weekend
I see cool cars go fast around a circle and root for my favorite driver
I am a somewhat recent fan, only following since late 2008.
I admit the following:
1. I liked the Chase but hate the modern elimination round playoff format. IMO, drivers pretty much eliminated themselves in the old format, when they had multiple bad races.
2. I own a single piece of sheet metal or a single die cast car. I'm 63 years old...I don't need toys.
3. I was a huge JJ fan.....exactly because of his professionalism. He and Chad did what they did very well. They tuned their strategy for the Chase. Had the format been different, they would have tuned their strategy differently. Even in the elimination era, JJ still won his 7th cup...and don't say he didn't deserve it. He won races to make the playoffs, he won key races to advance to Homestead, and even though he started from the rear, he passed every car on the track and was in the right place to win, when Edwards and Logano wrecked each other. He did his job well. All you JJ haters would praise Kyle Busch for driving to the front from the back, but JJ can't catch a break from you people.
4. I respect the legacy of Dale, but I don't like the way he raced. And I'm really sad and sorry about the way he died. That was truly tragic and a loss for the sport.
5. I've always liked Dale Jr. but let's face it, he never really had much fire in his belly for this. He should have won more races and at least one cup.
6. I've attended to a fair few races, but probably not as many as most die hard fans. Still, I loved being at the live event.
7. I absolutely loathe plate racing. Anything designed to specifically slow the cars down just strikes me as antithetical to real racing.
8. Yes...I would love to see NASCAR return to true stock cars.
@@Copperhead-sz1rr I’ve followed NASCAR long enough to understand all of that. But slowing the cars down forces them to run in a pack, and that always produces “the big one”. It’s the high banking. Hence, my wish they hadn’t turned Atlanta into that type of racing. It was better before.
@@Copperhead-sz1rr I was watching that race in the comfort of my den. I thought he was a gonner, but but he got out and sprinted to the finish line.
And yes....I wondered about the fans on the other side of that fence.
I don't think I said I wanted the cars to go 230 MPH. I just don't like pack racing. I remember hearing an interview of JJ after Talladega where he was asked how he would make this race better. He said, "knock down the banking, take the plates off, and let's race."
That made sense to me. Safer, as like Pocono and Indy, the turns would slow the cars down. But then it wouldn't be quite as exciting.
That's I much prefer road courses, medium and small ovals. The new Chicago street course, despite the rain, was pretty darned good race. So...yeah....I watch Daytona simply because it's Daytona. I'll even watch Talladega. But I regret that they turned Atlanta into this...with high banking and pack racing. I wish they had just repaved it and then let the guys race.
If you just watch youtube videos on Dale you would think he was pushing everyone out of the way all the time but it wasn't as often as you would think.
Those moments just get talked about and shown the most. I've watched Dale Sr. over the years and a lot of the best things he did in a car aren't in videos. Times when he would spin his car to avoid a wreck and get no damage, times when he would get spun and only lose a couple positions. The guy was a wheelman.
I AM A MIX OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE, I AM NASCAR
Same here kid. Same here.
@@USAKing1776NASCARYeah.
I gave up on Nascar due to the fact that it's gotten more dramatic over time, drivers in the 2000's or 90's actually had good sportsmanship, If a driver crashed at least one other driver would have the decency to check if he's injured, now if a driver crashes into a another the one responsible doesn't even have time to apologize because he's eating Haymakers for lunch
@@Worker_Drone_dude I don't know where you are from , but I'm from the hills where this sport originated and I'm here to tell you throwing hands over getting wrecked out is as old school as it gets.
@@maxmccullough8548 huh, maybe I'm seeing only one side of the sport and never actually getting a chance to see the other, plus I haven't watched a Nascar event in a while so I don't remember much
My growing Jimmie Johnson and Ty Dillon shrines are why I'll never afford a home
Ty Dillon!?
I feel you! 🤣🤣 Ty is a beast too!
@@kylegustafson6088it’s gotta be just hundreds of piece of sheet metal from old rcr trucks
My grandpa is a bit of the old-head NASCAR fan although he is a bit different than most. Instead of conplaining about how they dont run actual stock cars anymore, he just conplains about drivers going on the apron on tracks such as Phoenix and any track that drivers can drive on the apron to get an advantage.
Jeez I remember back around 2017-2018 that people started saying "NASCAR is DEAD" and started making videos on why they think NASCAR is "Dying"
I remember people writing into NASCAR Illustrated in 2004 and '05 and bitching about how it wasn't as good as it used to be...and I remember some old fart writing a long winded article in Stock Car Racing Racing magazine in 2006 bitching and moaning about the then current NASCAR and how a Jeff Gordon fan he talked to didn't know about Dale Earnhardt and that he never watched it until Gordon came along...which is bullcrap most likely because of the fact unless he started watching after 2001 he would have seen Dale race.
Nascar fans could fill an ocean with how much tears they shed
This video just randomly showed up in my feed. Never even heard of this channel before. Great material--hilarious! Will be checking out more vids later and sharing this one.
High horsepower low downforce is the right formula.
I would also add the underdog fan. That category would be where I fall into.
Somebody who roots primarily for the smaller teams rather than the big ones on a regular basis. these people often have a high respect for those who compete in NASCAR without the resources or skill to run up front.
Contrary to some fans, these folks will never complain about a backmarker for the sole purpose of said driver being slow.
As kind of an underdog fan myself, I have also noticed some of these people are prone to complaining about Hendrick Motorsports and the other big teams and accusing them of cheating. Yes, I am a Byron fan, but at the same time, I'm one of the biggest Anthony Alfredo fans too.
Listen as a new head complainer… yeah this checks out.
1:55 As Mike Joy once said, “if you’re having a drought, just invite NASCAR to your town, it’ll rain all weekend”.
I'm the second type of fan, but I don't complain too much
I think
I dont think the old fans are wrong for missing the old days (I say this as a new fan). Things have changed substantially and its totally ok to like the old style of racing more than the new style.
I’m the guy who thinks Gordon has 7 and skips school for races
He does have 7, Johnson should only have 3, and I'd be fine forcing him to sacrifice 1 of them to Mark Martin.
@@polycube868 and one to harvick
@rocklobstah8824 Harvick would be season long champ in 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2020
@@polycube868 2020 was tough with that martinsville race I don’t even care for harvick much but damn that hurt
@rocklobstah8824 if he had only spun Kyle Busch out without spinning himself he would have made it in, but somebody, not sure if it was Harvick or Rodney Childers said they had no speed at Phoenix.
How should I classify myself? A relatively new NASCAR fan (I watched my first races in 2014, started following it full time since 2020) from Italy, who got pretty much tired with F1 and european motrosport. They say that NASCAR is dead but for me it has been a fresh breeze of air!
More roadcources yes
Nah, I'm ok with what we have. Ovals are too much fun😂
@@Lowlife-jc8us
I'm a collecter and a Talladega fan. Proud to be a NASCAR fan!
‘Dega fans are a different breed.
Great video! Good, short attention-grabbing intro and no yapping on about anything! Good energy, keep it up!
Nascar abandoned their core fan base in the early 2000s and they have never recovered
Another lie by the old head nascar boomer crowd.
I’m a collector for sure! Along with a few other things
Been watching nascar since I was 7. (1994) and still watching. Is it perfect? No but no point of complaining I’m just a fan
my lack of funds is what keeps me vrom becoming the collector fan.
Brian France ruined NASCAR.
Im absolutely a Bowman Gray fan, f1 gas become pretentious as hell, and Indy car is what i watch for some consistently amazing racing, the ARCA series is where i can kock back with some buddies and watch the chaos unfold.
I’m totally the diecast fan lol.
Im a number 5. Although only difference is that ive never attended one in person because im on the wrong side of the planet. The only one ive ever watched was the Euro NASCAR at Brands Hatch.
I'm actually one of those old school fans who liked how it was in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, however I don't use the NASCAR died when Dale did card. to me: NASCAR was dying a slow death after Brian France took over in 2004, and now with the stage racing, the win and your in playoff knockout style format, and especially about 95-98% of the drivers you got now across all 4 divisions (yes, including ARCA) who don't know how to keep it clean at Daytona and Talladega, and do nothing but wreck it up everytime they hit 2 laps to go coming to the white flag everytime they go to those 2 venues. It's a joke now. 2024 speedweeks at Daytona is complete proof of that.
I'm the nascar fan from school I tell everybody in my classroom that I don't watch Nascar but they know that I watch Nascar and surprisingly they haven't called me names like redneck or dumbass they just say all right and they just walk with day and one of my classmates tell me that he watched the highlights of the Daytona 500 and hell I even show my classroom the 2007 Daytona 500
I heard the Pokémon xd music in the background and have hella respect for that. I JUST finished playing a nostalgia run and purified all the Pokemon and beat the Mt Battle Master
I'm number 3... wasn't going to Daytona on Sunday but had Xfinity tickets and they let us in for the 500 so I texted my boss Sunday afternoon, got Monday afternoon off to go down there after a "sweet, fill out the form" and that was that
In the end of the day, all were cheering for thar nascar in Le mans
Point standings complainers are right though😭💀
I feel like I'm a collector because I have had every driver in 2012's diecast as a gift
i would technically be the "calls off work" fan because I specifically setup my work schedule to have Sundays off for Cup races. I just watch the delayed races at work on Monday 😂
I don’t know what kind I am. Already collected some 1/64 diecast so probably Collector.
How does everyone pick a favorite driver?
I’m still watching and rooting for everyone
I didn't no call out of work I made a Daytona Crisis plan with my boss lol I came in 2 hours early and left 2 hours early 😂 I had other things I would do if It was at 11 where I'd make the work up over 2 days or so
Im pretty sure i missed school for the exact dover race you mentioned.
Definitely a type 3 person myself
0:28 that’s me but I’m not blinded by nostalgia
I hate those "NASCAR died when Dale died" fans. In the NBA it's the same, they say "the NBA died when Kobe and Duncan retired" and they always keep complaining saying there's no defense but they only watch a few games
I’m the hurricane. I’ve had it go both ways, races postponed due to rain so I don’t get to go and races postponed due to rain so that I do get to go.
my boss also loves nascar so we both call out
It felt oddly strange knowing you're from NW NC due to Bowman Gray, and also hearing P5 background music
You forgot the “Nascar died when the Frances made up the chase and buried it with the playoffs” fan…like me
This is so true❤
@4:38 Woah! I didn't know Noah Gragson was a Talladega fan!
That's not noah
100% the points complainer season ends after 26th race every year for me regular season champ is my champ
I dont fit into any of these categories mainly because I am British and only recently got into the sport fully, I did used to watch it when I was younger but stopped during the mid to late-2010s, was a big Jimmie Johnson fan as I started watch in 2009 as a 5 yr old so the top driver was my favourite. I know enough about Nascar that I can get by but not as much as the superfans (thats is me when it comes to WEC).
For me, I see cars racing around and it is exciting, I will watch doesnt matter the car type, car speed, track type, if it goes I will watch it.
They have road races now
@alexmaccain2362 Can I ask why you wrote this? Do you think I don't like ovals? Because I actually really like oval racing, it takes alot of skill and precision, the reason I stopped watching and paying attention to Nascar is because I didn't have an easy way of watching the series.
luckily for me I have federal holidays off, didn't have to call out to watch the 500 lol
As a Hispanic zoomer Nascar fan from California, I don't relate to any of these 😮😮
What happens if you qualify for over 5 of these?
I'm a newer fan who's trying to get in, with mainly an F1 background, so I'm not sure if i entirely fit one of these molds. I'm most intrigued by superspeedways and by road courses, whereas most intermediates and short tracks are just too samey for me, I think. I dont mind stages, but I think stage cautions are really dumb. Same with the playoff format, it just feels gimmicky to me. All that said, I do like the track variety and the more aggressive style of driving
Average points complainer here. Hated the chase 20 years ago, hate the playoffs today.
Aside from that everything's been alright the last few years 😂
I don't mind nascar constantly giving Hendrick wins and championships. Still a great sport. As long as fans know that team never works for its wins and gets away with everything cheating and cautions. All the way back2 gordon and johnson.
As a playoff-anti, it's hard cuz I am an HMS fan so I want Jeff to have 7, but I want JIMMAY to have 7..
Also, NEVER say you hate the playoffs on R/NASCAR.
I absolutely despise how the next gen car is spec and how they moved the number forward and got rid of contingency sponsors and cut horsepower and how the xfinity series always puts on a better show
Have u watched Atlanta?
@@Lowlife-jc8us and how they ruined Atlanta and made it to mini daytona
@@Cuhh346 cause it's made for cup cars
The complainers annoy me so much. The whole point of watching NASCAR in the first place is because you like watching racing, not to complain about literally every single track on the circuit because they're not Daytona.
I'm pretty sure all of these NASCAR fans HATES BUBBA. 🙋🏼♂️
As someone born in 2003 i am definitely the points system hater i never got to watch the proper system
Call me a "new head complainer" I just wanna see the cars go 200 at all the big tracks again 😭
I’m a new head complainer 😭 oh nooooo I sit on iracing and complain about dirty air in my head and hate anew Atlanta
im actually not a big fan of nascar, but dale gotta be my favorite
What about the fan that loves nascar regardless of everything and loves racing for racing
That's me.
I'm 100% the points complainer. I just can't take seriously a championship format in which a driver can.... see, I can't help it.
I’d love for actual stock cars to come back, but the sport is by no means dead because of the cars not being stock anymore
Honorable Mention: The NASCAR gamer fans
I'll admit it, I'm a points system complainer! Love NASCAR, but hate the playoffs!
I have been watching my whole life but never been to a race in person.... So the only possible ones i could be is one of the complainers
The old head and points complainer at the worst. I’m the collector btw
Jeff Gordon is the best racer, prove me wrong.
Nascar never died it might not be as popular as it used to be but it never died neither
Btw I'm so tired of people saying nascar went woke I'm still waiting for evidence outside of the BLM car supposedly of how Nascar went woke 😂 if Nascar went woke why do they still wave the true American flag at every race and allow everybody to come to every race 😂 I'm still waiting for true proof besides people just talking out of their ass of how Nascar went woke
I'm a new head complainer
But with a playoffs system a driver can be the champion without a singler funcking race won
Correction, nascar isn’t dead… it’s dying slowly lol
Bandwagon fans are the worst. They only follow a driver, because they happen to be the spawn of another driver (ie: Dale Jr and Chase fans)
Expect Dale jr never really won much his last decade and every Chase hater acts like he's not good anymore. So how is there a bandwagon
@@owenherndon3794 Put both in a Rick Ware car and tell me how great they are, my guy.
@@sunshinecoolwater9528 put Richard Petty, Dale sr, and Jimmie Johnson in a RWR car and tell me how many wins they have
You just don’t like Chase because he’s good.
My dad liked Dale Jr, only because he was friends with him
Probably a new head complainer. Back to back SSWs and two road courses in the playoffs pisses me off, but I like the playoffs as a system so I’m not the points complainer
I will never like the playoff format.
Color chrome is garbage. All the weird special finishes are. Only as they were on track is acceptable
I'm definitely the points complainer, witch is funny because I started watching in 2019, so I'm used to the format. I STILL HATE IT.
I hate the points complainers
Yes because every other form of oval racing is wrong and you are right 😂
Ok but we can all agree that the cookie cutter system sucks ass
I'm personally a fan of the winged Car Of Tomorrow people better fight my opinion them cars looked badass
I’m a “F1 took away commercials so now NASCAR is unwatchable” fan.
Why do nascar fans hate nascar so much
i'm an old-head complainer, except i'm well aware that 90% of that never happened,
Eric Etsep, the iceberg and Radman are all squarely locked into #2. Never seen a positive video from them. Hate it.
The " fans" who whine about the points system go watch f1. That way, when the champion is crowned with 5 races left in the season, you will understand why we love the points system.
the pain of watching nascar decline is real
How ? Nobody don't watch TV anymore bro, that's why nascar is going online even if your watching TV it would be wayy less than watching online.
@alexfire53-ze7px NBA and NFL have seen only small decreases, nascar has lost 50% of its fanbase since 2000 and is still losing around 5% viewership every year.
@@alexfire53-ze7pxthe real fans have left (original fans that didn't need social media and shit) and the new fans run the show (they love gimmicky bullshit like stages and the knockout chase format of today) the guys who run the show worked for the nfl first. they cater to the new whiny idiots.
@@user-jc8ko5it8z like I said people do not watch TV anymore that's why they'll go to prime next year
@alexfire53-ze7px they have lost way more relative to other sports don't play dumb 😂
nascar was good until 2017 season
‘DEGA FAN BABY, LETS GOOO!!!!
Also, as a Prius-driving, Biden-voting theater kid who's been obsessed with NASCAR since the age of 5, I rarely find a category that I fit into. Not many fall into my venn diagram. XD Love y'all and the sport all the same! Raise Hell, Praise Dale! 🍻🏁
Nope. Dodge left. NASCAR let Toyota in got desperate. Simple as that.
Honda is coming , dodge is only in nhra
you forgot the 'nascar youtuber' fan..
this fan desperately tries to keep up passion for this sport while it's on it's deathbed chasing gimmicks to retain viewership.
Don't watch
