I'm a long time viewer and I often use your videos to help wind down and sleep at night (a very high compliment). I think it's a wonderful thing for someone to have a soothing enough personality to help people sleep at night. Keep doing what you're doing, youre awesome!
Auto wrangle means wrangle anything more than what i say i want here. Then set it to 0 limit. It'll now wrangle anything in that room. Then they will be hauled off to any dropoff requesting that animal. I put an autowrangle dropoff in my "hall"/ladder open space. So anything loose outside of rooms gets wrangled right away.
I'd probably try leave the main hatch farm as full as possible. And only eat the ones in the meat evolution chamber. Even if it means to eat more mush for a while. It would be a compounding effect that would sustain the population.
Hi. Hydrogen generators used to account to the generation achievement, so go for oxygen/hydrogen machine and use hydrogen generators. Congrats for this new ONI videos.
Really enjoying this series. I’ve started playing ONI again after about a year away. Great game. Nice to see how you handled slime I always stay faaaaar away from it 😂😂
It might be worth to build a pacu breeding tank, where you only have a small amount of fish, and a second tank that can house an unlimited amount of pacu. With some automation you can keep a low number in the breeding tank. It's easier and cheaper to tame a small number. Each tame and happy Pacu will lay an egg about every 1,5 cycles. For the second tank it doesn't matter how big it is, one tile is enough. As long as they don't get confined they will lay one egg before they die, even if you are not feeding them. If you kill the adult Pacu before they are tamed, you are indeed wasting algae
You inspired me to attempt every achievement as well. I had been wanting to start a new colony with the full release and you started this so I started doing the same. I'm a little further in ~150 cycles so far. Finally got solar power up and life is much better. Next is tapping the hydrogen vent for power so I can get off hamster wheels for good.
always nice to see pacus focused for carnivore, i started into the forest, got carnivore like 5 cycles before the deadline, now im suffering to make the super sustain
@@GrindThisGame They help a lot especially inside power plants, you can also use manual generators inside power plants if you want but hydro tends to give your dupe free time for the GIANT building part that comes right after wining carnivore.
Last time I played this game was right around the time the tube update came. Really wish I had a computer that could run this game but it’s fun watching you play anyway
@@GrindThisGame The information you are missing:- you need two critter drop-offs. 1st) in the nature reserve, set to shine nymphs (and variants), count 20, auto-wrangle OFF (i.e. overflow setting). 2nd) in the main base (or room with unwanted nymphs), set to shine nymphs, count 0, auto-wrangle ON (you could set it to all critters but that may have unintended consequences). I've not yet watched newer episodes, so you may have already resolved your errant nymph problem.
The usage of the auto-wrangle for the nymphs is that the dupes can auto-wrangle even if you can't designate, so the sign post should be on the sender side.
I just move Pacu eggs with normal containers into my water tanks, then i leave them as wild speciments. Sure It's just one Pacu-fillet every 25 cycles, but the algea consumption of tamed Pacu aswell as the overcrowding issues makes them so annoying. When you keep them wild they will lay an egg every 25 cycles even when overcrowded and starving, so It become one of the better sources of passive food in the game. When i did my carnivore challenge I rapidly dug up the map to find all the Pacu i could find, then i put down a high priority container for pacu-fillets so they go grab them once the original Pacus die, i also left a container in my water pool. So when i saw Pacu eggs i could just active a Alert on storing Pacu eggs and then just cancel it once they reach the storage container which drops them on the bottom of the water tank. Think i had 16 of them which became 25 600 cal. of food every 25th cycle without any extra work. It ain't massive, but it at least amounted to a 4th of the required amount for the achivement and past that i just kept them in store for Surf'n Turfs.
@@GrindThisGame Another thing i usually do are to connect my first(and probably only) carbon skimmer to my toilet loop. Since it don't really consume any water... I just make sure that the water prioritize the toilets so those don't stop function in case the skimmer don't have enought carbon to skim and stop working. As for excess water i usually dump into some hydro tiles for thimble reeds. Ofc these are not doable while doing the loclivore achivement(even if it's not edible). Thimble reeds are pretty optimal for this since you need very few of them anyway. THis is mostly a means to save electricity and make it a completely closed off no maintenance loop, just add more reeds when you start getting excess polluted water.
@@GrindThisGame I also forgot to mention that only time i have tamed Pacu is when I'm able to farm normally since they can also eat seeds. When farmers are higher level the seeds generated from most plants are more then enought to sustain the Pacu. However this won't solve the overcrowding. Only way to do that efficiently is to use a critter detector, autosweeper and conveyor belt setup to move the eggs to a different tank. Since those fish would be for eating, the 2nd tank can be really smal. The irony however lie in, that if you can farm, why even bother with Pacus. 😆
Still haven't finished watching the video, but by doing some quick math you get this: If every dupe eats 1.000 calories per day, your dupes eat 15.000 (since you have 15 of them, at least at the point of the video I'm at). 400.000/15.000 is equal to 26,6 according to my beloved and trustworthy calculator, so let's say you only need 27 cycles to complete the achievement. And that is the amount of cycles you would need if you hadn't eaten any meat at all. You got this. If something goes wrong just get rid of the pacu. Also my calculations are probably off since the amount of calories they get from eating barbecue is probably not 1.000 but I'm not sure, I'm going with the 1.000 calories per day.
Well, math update, and a very satisfying one. Since you have 16 dupes now, the amount cycles you would need to complete the achievement granted that they only eat meat is a very very nice number, exactly 25. You are already halfway there, so you technically need 12.5 cycles to complete it. Of course this assumption and the math is based on the condition that yours dupes only eat meat. And this is obviously not happening, because you need them to survive and in order for them not to starve you'll have to allow them to eat other kinds of food.
i dig this comment is very very late... but apparently it takes 2 generations to get to 100% tame... via a steam descussion i learned you want to set up the feeders with 1kg alge each so they dont fill up... make sure that they dont have access to any seeds to consume... so they only eat from feeders 1kg each so they keep getting the fed from feeder buff multiple times and it doesnt run out mid way through a cycle... each generation they will drop a egg at 50% tame and then again the next generation at 100% tame... you want multiple feeders set up for this... i assume from the info i gathered itd take roughly 30-40 days to get 100% tame pacu from scratch given their life span... this game is still on my wishlist XD
How about creating a water pit and keeping all excess eggs in the pit? Hatches will drown and you dont have to kill them manually or wait 100 cycles. One the influx is streamlined, you get steady supply of meat as every 20 cycles egg with hatch and hatchlings will die of drowning
You may want to start Drekos sooner rather than later. I think they multiply fairly fast and you already got Lucovore achievement so you can plant some food for them.
Outhouses are not dependable anymore. They can look clean but without dirt, they are still out of order and there is no way of knowing unless you click the toilet
I noticed your dupes disinfecting buildings. One of the first things I turn off is disinfect from the germs overlay. With very basic sanitation procedures it is absolutely unnecessary and a waste of time.
the tool tip for the type of food seemed to be weird.. if you scroll over the check boxes it will tell what the food is!! why not use the bathroom water loop for the carbon skimmer?! now you have a second water sieve dropping polluted dirt in an open area!
I'm new to the game. Is it better to do the infinite storage or just build a room with storage and keep everything? Some of the tricks you use are they just quality of life or do you just never need some of that material? thank you very much for your great videos. I've been watching for over a year now. I still get anxiety playing so I have barely ever played but love watching your walkthroughs.
It is mostly to combat lag. The resources of 1 type stack up into giant piles and the simulator only has to do calculations on that one pile vs. many little piles. Having single type storage boxes also works as you get 20T of one thing in each box but often you'll need 10+ boxes for certain common materials. Playing on easier settings is less stressful :)
how did you get the locavore achievement, it seems bugged... there is no way you went from 30k calories to 400k calories in 3 cycles... which is the time between when you last checked....
