I’m excited to see you’re jumping on the slow-stitching boat… I love it and have done a few journal covers incorporating my hand stitching! I’m looking forward to seeing your interpretations 😊
I too watch Rachel of Roxie's Creations as well as her sister Sarah for slow stitching inspiration. Their mother is also a sewer/embroiderer. Thanks for video and looking forward to your journey.
Hi Julia - I also watch Rachel at Roxy Creations and her sister Sarah. Have watched Rachel for a lot of years. Just love her creations. Your journal will be so pretty. Love the row houses. I slow stitch some pieces too. It’s fun and slow!!! Just a relaxing way to be creative when you don’t have a lot of time. I’ve been seeing all the damage to FL today and my heart and prayers go out to all of them. It’s such a mess and breaks my heart. It’s not over yet. Looks like SC is going to get hit tomorrow. Can’t wait to see your other videos in this series. See ya next time. Hugs. 💕🙏🏻🧵
Hi Pam, Rachel is the best! She's so "real" and relaxed in her videos. Slow stitching is so good for me, even if my fingers don't always work the way I want-LOL. I'm so devastated with the news out of FL. We have family and friends there. Also the Carolinas. Water is so destructive. Prayers to everyone. Enjoy your weekend, Julia
Oh my goodness, I have been looking forward to doing some sewing through the winter since the garden is put to bed, and I am so happy I came across your channel! I love this type of thing. I can’t wait to get a project going. Thank you so much for sharing!
I love your channel and find you so kind thank you so much for all that you share with us. You always make us feel we could do that and I have often made things you have suggested or used it as a start off idea. Thank you xx
I am a beginner as well ,I am in the middle of making my first fabric cover for a journal, your work is really helpful and your cover is looking great.
Hi, Here is an Amazon link to the pen that I use. amzn.to/3ynsmv4 It is called "Uni-ball Deluxe Rollerball Pens. Other pens may also work. You may want to experiment. Thanks for watching, have fun with free-motion stitching. It takes some practice but is so worth it!
You can add beads, flower buttons, lace, shells, clips, jewelry, floral product s , etc. But it's so much fun. You never know what it will look like at the end. I make wall hangings. Check out Tracy from Art fiber stitch.
Hi Julia, I absolutely love your channel. I look forward to every new video you put up. But I was wondering what size is the canvas piece do you use to make your journal covers with?
Hi, I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos. My favorite size for journal covers are 8" high x 12" wide ( folded it would be approx. 8"x 6") I also like 9" high x 12" wide. Hope this helps, Julia
I love slow stitching. I have arthritis and when I stitch in front of the tv it helps take my mind off the pain and nothing to strenuous. I bought my free motion foot but have not tried it yet. What would be a good beginner project Julia?
Slow stitching has also really helped me. My fingers are getting stiffer with age and movement keeps them going. I'm so glad you are trying free motion. I started by sewing around easy shapes. I cut circles and hearts etc. out of scrap fabric, laid them on top of batting and stitched around the edges. It's all about getting use to the movement. The mistake many newbies make is to sew too slow. Keep the speed at medium. Continually move the fabric with your hands. It takes practice but is so worth the effort! Have fun!

Basting stitch in America, tacking in England
Thanks for the info Barbara! I've heard it used both ways and wasn't sure.
