It breaks the fourth wall and is self aware in a non cynical way. Like alot of series are self aware now and its just mean spirited. This show just had alot of fun especially with the writing. You don't get that nowaday.
One thing they have to account for now is the source of Freakazoid's powers. He gets his powers from the internet and while that may have been balanced in the 90s by today's standards of tech he'd be SUPER OP to the point that he's practically a God.
It's one of the few times that it works because at least it is consistent with his character. The Sidekick Chronicles is pretty random and awesome instead of just random and flat.
I don’t know why, but that transition cut with Freakazoid’s head at 4:10 reminded of the Genie from Aladdin when he learned Aladdin tricked him into getting out of the cave without using a wish.
