It’s funny you mention that, since me and my brother would play a game when watching CBBC shows where we would try and spot any props that were things that we also had in our own house
I guess that CBBC would shop for props at Tesco’s a lot

  • @mc.gemstone
    @mc.gemstone 4 года назад +2

Okay, I need to put this down as I'm finally watched this video.
For the longest time up until now I was terrified of this show because of a horrid nightmare I had of it where Basil was a demonic creature with a twisted smile and open his big gaping mouth to suck me into the tv. Snice from that dream where I had around 3 or 4 years old I stopped watching that show and over time the whole channel. In some ways he was breaking the 4th wall in my nightmares.
Every time that CBBC was on I would leave the room or start to panic and freak out, it was horrible for me because I missed out on a lot of good shows because of that puppet.
My parents didn't understand why and found out it was because of my aspergers, so today I ended up finally watching this video and it felt like taking a huge plaster of that scar that's been with me for too long.
I guess I can finally let go of it and don't feel too scared of the show that much, it may take some time as its the first steps to be getting over it and such. Though I wish I got over it soon as it went on for too long and I hate how I had to avoid it I could of just watch CBBC and change over the channel every time he came on but I didn't but before that, I did watch CBBC before that whole thing happen.
I won't lie and say that I'm not too interested in watching it, as it doesn't look like my kind of show but I do respect the people that made it and didn't realise how much of a meta show it was and how much it got away with so much I don't think a show like that now on the BBC would be allowed to do it, especially the state that it's in now.
Sorry for this long comment but it took me forever to let go of this dumb fear all because of the nightmare I had of it and such.

I've seen the series six episodes when i was seven or eight accidently and i had Postman Pat in a Muddle on VHS with Basil's trailer. it seems that The Basil Brush Show isn't that much of recognizable sitcom on CBBC as far as we know. it doesn't line close with Brum, The Magic Roundabout, Rosie and Jim and even The Wombles.
So, Mr. Stephen is like the Jon Arbuckle/Richard Candell of Garfield and Sooty, right?
Speaking of Sooty, You should get down to reviewing every bit. Sooty is like way more popular than Basil and that is due to cute puppets and magical editing.
Sooty is even getting a planned movie from his 2011 series, which is development hell. even if Pingu is revived, he has a lot of potenial to have his own film adaptation.
also i can tell why these quotes were added.
    5:32-5:36 NOPE! Sail to Canada.
9:14 Round The World? Sounds Familiar... Around The World in 80 Days, Cars 2 and Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures!
    Yes, i'm a bit of a crack.
Lastly, Rights Entertainment went out of buisness after selling only five DVD releases for the purchase of the series. Dreamworks Classics became the sucessor by keeping Postman Pat and Noddy.

You can’t compare apples and oranges. One was a variety show based around individual skits, the other was a self-aware surreal comedy in the vein of Monty Python.
