    What do you think would happen if Julian survived his campaign? Would we have a much different world today?

    Amen to Ammianus Marcellinus for providing us with so much detail about these events. Also, kudos to the producers of this video. The neutral tone and text are well done. The art mix, created partly by AI and partly by the artist, is very impressive. I really enjoyed it and will definitely watch it again.

      simply the army was betrayed. It was a classic move for the Romans to attack in 2-3 columns. They did so in 117 and in 166, 196 and in 283 and 295. All ended with the conquest of Ctesiphon. the betrayal of Procopius and the Armenian king was the cause.

      I Found my Answer.....NEVER MIND: Julian wasn't standing around like an utter fool, he was trying to save his army.
      His army was under attack from several angles while on the march and he rushed out to the hotspots to rally his men unfortunately without putting on his armor in his haste. Who hasn't forgotten something important while being a hurry?
      And he got stabbed with a spear in the middle of melee either by a Persian soldier/Arab mercenary, a traitorous Christian legionary or by Saint Mercurius depending on which version you believe.

      @fazelhb1626 4 месяца назад +1

      This is such a complex matter with lots of views But alot believe Parthian empire is considered a Persian empire (at least in English)
      there isn't a single entity known as the "Persian Empire," Westerners commonly refer to empires such as the Achaemenid, Parthian, Sassanian, and Safavid as Persian empires. These were established by Iranian peoples in and around the region historically known as Persia or Iran.

      Based on his writings, his thought process was indicative of someone with a high intelligence, I would say. Not to mention his transformation and stunning achievements in Gaul and Germany. Persia was Rome’s “eternal enemy”. If Julian could knock it out, then Rome would have no geopolitical rivals whatsoever, and probably would have averted the disastrous war that Heraclius barely saved Rome from. You can decide if that’s a worthy goal.
      But being intelligent doesn’t make you immune to stupid decisions, though. Bill Clinton slept with his intern, Elon Musk called divers pedophiles, Hitler refused a breakout of the Sixth Army, Caesar refused to listen to forewarnings by Calpurnia, etc.

    There was no blow by a "Persian knight".
    first of all, the cataphracts did not throw spears. And the most important until the end, the Romans emerged victorious from the battle.
    it was most likely the blow of a Christian in Julian's army.
