- THAT'S RIGHT! Kong-A-Thon has officially begun! People have been requesting this series for years, it's about time I deliver! Over the next 8 weeks, we will be reviewing the entire King Kong franchise I hope you enjoy!
In this video, we review RKO's 1933 masterpiece: King Kong! Кино
King Kong is the grandfather of Kaiju films!
Thats what im saying. Kong inspired Godzilla. So i dont see why zilla fans get so butt hurt if kong wins. Not to mention he beat godzilla the first time they fought.
@@markymark5198 it's because they're kids
Yes you are finally
reviewing konga
This Movie is amazing. The Special effects and story are Fantastic. And You are definitely correct about this being the most important movie in Film History! It’s been a While since I last watched it so I definitely need to watch it again. Can’t wait for the rest of the Kong-A-Thon!
D man 1954 is secretly a king Kong fan covering mostly Godzilla stuff....
And he exposed himself as such at comic con...
That's exactly what happened.
your just finding it out now?
@@DMan1954 to be fair I like Kong too, just as much as Godzilla
@@DMan1954 to be fair, there's a lot more G stuff to cover. For some reason. ;)
Actually King Kong was one of the things that had helped inspire the creation of Godzilla. If we didn't have King Kong we wouldn't have Godzilla either.
This series was delayed from 2018 to 2019
Just like Godzilla King Of The Monsters! Ones about Kong. Ones about Godzilla. This is conclusive evidence that Dman is confirmed for Godzilla vs Kong.
*It has begun!*
Too many remakes didn't kill Kong, T'was beauty that killed the beast.
Good stuff D-man. Let that Kong flag fly high. About time someone shows the eighth wonder of the world he so rightfully deserves.
King Kong, is perhaps the most important film in cinema history. King Kong is also the first motion picture to have an original theme and score.
The first audio commentary track in the world was released with the Criterion Laser Disc version of King Kong.......I watched it last Fall and it was pretty good!
This movie is such an inspiration to me. I shit you not, I never would have put in so much effort into refining my stop motion if it wasn’t for this. Willis O’Brian was a genius, and his mentor ship of Ray Harryhausen proves that, as Harryhausen obviously would come to eclipse him in his own innovation is special effects. That’s how you know you’re a good teacher.
Also, it just BLOWS my mind how insane these special effects are. This movie was YEARS ahead of its time. And like you said, it completely revolutionized cinema. It’s the movie that made us realize we could make anything happen. It also helps that the movie STILL holds up today. Anybody can sit down and watch and enjoy it.
Cinema’s greatest achievement, to be sure.
Awesome man! I remember when I was a little kid I always used to rewatch the Kong vs T-rex fight scene, so great!
The special effects were amazing. I felt they made Kong do extra small things to seem more alive even though they didn't really had to do that considering the time and time consumption of stop motion
We need some 1933 kong music in GvK
Hell yes.
breaking t-rex jaws since 1933.
You can’t review this. It’s not even fair ! Lol
I had this movie 25 years before the Peter Jackson movie.
I had multiple VHS copies from rewinding so much.
Greatest movie ever made!!!
They def had a time machine or
Somthing.
How the hell was this master piece
Made ?
Also my favorite score of all time.
Still not sure how this was all
Pulled off
Thank you for your review. All your points are SPOT ON. This film is so disrespected. As you say, made in the early 30's, it still BLOWS MY MIND !!!
Yes the King Kong reviews finally this is gonna be fun
Great review, I have never seen the whole film, but my appreciation for it has increased over the years thanks to info from all those like you who have reviewed it.
I love Godzilla but I do realize that Kong made everything possible that we see in film today.
You are right about King Kong being really significant. I think that the Max Steiner soundtrack was also very influential in the development of movie soundtracks.
Yes King Kong maybe favourite monster of all time its either between King King or Godzilla are my favourite and remember the time they actually called King Kong then Kong man those were the good old days.
Jurassiczilla king king lol
Bro I fucking love you! I don't wanna use the term "Godzilla fanboys" but they are terrible, I'm pretty sure I'm older than you, I'm 35. Debating with these kids, gives me headaches. You are a genuine fan, you love Godzilla but you respect and acknowledge kong
In the deleted scene, they were chased by a styracosaurus, not a triceratops.
Great job man. You did a great job with this one.
I can’t stop listening to your farm prayers for peace song 😭😭😭
That makes me very happy to hear.
Dude, I completely forgot about when you said you were going to review all the Kong films! I'm super excited to hear your thoughts on all of them! Whenever I see you post a Kong-related video, I instantly click, so this is a great day indeed :)
You’re so right about that Dman without King Kong there will be no Godzilla
King Kong (1933) helped me introduce to Godzilla. I was like 6-7 years old and I love Kong with passion. I go to public library to picked up King Kong(Monster Series Book. There was a picture that shown Kong was fighting to Godzilla but at time I thought it was a plain old T-rex. One day I went back to library to get that book again, but come to find out the book was rented and I was upset. But my older brother thought I be interest of taking a new monster series book called Godzilla. At 1st I didn't want to I was throwing a little fit but I took look at and what saw in middle of the page was a ape fighting Godzilla and was curious who was that ape he fighting and it said "King Kong". A week later went to video store and rented movie "King Kong vs. Godzilla" That was 1st Godzilla movie ever watch and watching it, I was curious to learn more about Godzilla. Next video was Godzilla King of the monsters (1956) and I fell in love with Godzilla. Kong always have place in my heart. That why I am excited for Godzilla vs. Kong it reminded me that this movie that got me to start watch Godzilla movie. And Yes, I am still torn of which kajiu I should be rooting for.
Watched (or listened) to your review, and it was really good! I agree with a lot, if not, the vast majority of your points :)
Just a couple things: it's actually styracosaurus that's supposed to be chasing the Venture crew through the jungle/preventing them from running back across the log when confronted by Kong. Also, you were half right on Kong's roar! If I remember correctly, it's a lion's roar combined with that of a tiger, and they've been slowed down and reversed in order to create Kong's roar.
As for Kong being a kaiju, I always thought he was. Doesn't 'kaiju' translate into "strange beast"? I feel like Kong fits the bill. Maybe not the PJ Kong, because he was a legit giant gorilla, as opposed to a giant gorilla-like monster like he is in most other media. So, personally, I would include Kong as a kaiju.
But yeah, great review, and I'm looking forward to your thoughts on 'Son Of Kong', as well as all those that came after! :)
Tbh I haven’t seen the original King Kong, but I would love to watch it. 😄
It's a classic and one of the most important films in the history of Kaiju Eiga, pop culture, and cinema in general. Even if the acting of the 1930's is a bit... "robust" or even slightly awkward in comparison to acting of the 1950's onwards, the film still holds its own in a number of ways, and it pioneered a great many tropes and clichés that many people take for granted nowadays. It's not just the title character that's the 8th Wonder of the World, but also the film itself.
Youre missing out man. This movie was way ahead of its time. Not to mention kong was the first true kaiju and inspired Godzilla.
I would've waited an eternity for this
That serpent monster that King Kong fights is called an Elasmosaurus. Also, I went to the Kong unmade panel at G fest and apparently Kong was originally going to fight Komodo dragons instead of dinosaurs. He kind of got to fight komodo dragons in Kong Skull Island because the Skullcrawlers are kind of like komodo dragons.
Man if there was one review that you should have made a visual review...the effects nearly a century later still hold up soooo damn well.
I just got my order of a special effects blu ray collection (Son of Kong, Mighty Joe Young, Them!, and The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms), looks like it’s just on time so I can watch Song of Kong before your review.
King Kong is an absolute classic, it has great pacing, wonderful effects for it’s time, and was a hugely influential film in cinema in general.
EVERYONE, LETS COME TOGETHER AND GET THE ONE THING WE ALL WANT... A DMAN AND BRANDON TENOLD CROSSOVER VIDEO... LETZ MAKE IT HAPPEN PEOPLE
I approve of this video
That intro tho 👌🏾😉
I just finished all of the Godzilla movies for the first time so I’m up for this kong-a-thon with you lol, I’ve only seen the first two kong movies
I would say the most important film as far as special effects wise would Metropolis (1927) do to its still impressive practical set miniatures, and costume design, but Kong is revolutionary with stop motion capabilities in the 1930s, which is a stepping stone to motion capture today.
I think the difference is that Metropolis has had far less impact. The film has gone on to be all but forgotten. It's legacy isn't one people really know about due to the majority of the film being lost to the ages.
Although I do agree that Metropolis has some incredible special effects for the time, King Kong revolutionized the special effects industry. It inspired countless people to become visual animators and pushed the spectacle film into the mainstream.
Epic intro. Loved it
Kong-a-thon rolls off the tongue really nice.
There wasn't a Triceratops. Originally it was an Arsinotherium. Later it was replaced by a Styracosaurus. There is a recreation of the scene that was made by Peter Jackson using stop motion called the Lost Spider Pit Sequence. The story behind it very interesting. And the serpent is an Elasmosaurus
I haven't seen this movie, but I watched Gojira 1954 last year, I pretended to b in 1954 how I would've watched a movie like it was once a year opportunity. That movie literally scared me thinking what I would've felt at night back then, sleepless, horrified
Might be 1 of the best movies ever made , and it’s a monster movie
So, if you're doing a Kong marathon, does this mean you're going to be doing another video for King Kong vs. Godzilla, or will you simply refer everyone to the Godzillathon video instead?
King Kong is Iconic With a great story that I enjoy hearing This movie is iconic 🎥Thanks To King Kong That Love My Favorite Character Ever Godzilla🎥
They use the 33' roar in The Thing when the Thing grows to a massive form before being blown up. It's also a mix of different animal growls. Lion and Tiger forsure, but I do not know what else.
A classic.
What if Godzilla got mind controlled by the xzillions in Godzilla vs kong
Good Movie.
So I guess we're doin a kong-a-thon now😅
i love godzilla and king kong
Holy Mackerel, what a show!
The serpent is supposed to be an Elasmasaurus from what I've read, and the skull crawlers were vaguely designed off of the thing Jack cuts off of the vine.
Yea most people dont realize that the skull crawlers were actually in the original kong movie. They just werent as deadly or relevant as they were in the 2017 kong movie.
One of my all time fav movies!,by the way the cave serpent is a elasmosaurs!
Best intro ever
I Grow Up With King Kong 1933 With clips on VHS 📼 With Lost World Jurassic Park In same VHS 📼 My Dad Would Rec clips of Dinosaurs Movies for Me & Thanks To My Dad I Love Dinosaurs Like Godzilla & Jurassic Park🎥
We Love it!!!

Can't wait for King Kong(2005)
Wow you’re right about that Dman 1:41
Godzilla: Am I a joke to you?

@@Death_To_Kong i doubt you would have wanted an octopus for a king of the monsters, soooo.....
DMan, Stop Monkeying around in your intro. It might drive me Bananas Soon
So did the beast from 20,000 fathoms inspire Godzilla.
Hey dman will u cover mighty Joe young in this. I know its not Kong but its kind of a little sibling to king Kong. I'm of course talking about the original mighty Joe young.
I will review that film eventually, but not in Kong-A-Thon
@@DMan1954 hmm OK it just would fit considering its literally the same people who made Kong. Its also the first big film to have Ray Harihousen work on the special effects.
@@DMan1954 also do u realize that the outline u have on kong looks like Godzilla?
*Styracosaurus
Kong wasnt the first special effect movie ;)
The Lost World was 1925.
Podcast mode .. fascinating
How did they get Kong on the boat and keep him asleep?
I believe they used some sort of gas. They dug a giant pit and filled it with some sort of sleeping gas. And kong just walks and falls into the pit and the gas puts him out. As for how they got him on the ship, your guess is as good as mine lol.
Is it bad that I’m a huge Godzilla fan and I haven’t seen the original film?
If you havent seen the original kong and Zilla, you should deff give them a watch. I personally liked the original kong film over the original godzilla film but they were both way ahead of their time.
I’ve never seen Dmans full body😹😹😹
The names king Kong but they call me king schlock - MIB

Speaking of podcasts....
The world needs a new episode of the Extremely Low budget Podcasts.
Tell Kyle
HEY KYLE!
Godzilla, mothra, rodan, battra, ghidorah, and kong
Vs.
Cthulhu, destoroyah, biollante, slattern, clover, and the scarlet king.
Who would win?
Team Cthulhu obviously, heck scarlet king solos the other team

I’ve been waiting years for this. Kong-a-thon time!
Sorry, I had to correct you.
wow he has legs
1933 King Kong had a lot of great characters and was what gave cinematography a great impression and what inspired many to create more and more films through the years and time and time again other great movies that sprouted from this shown inspiration as well to cinematography and created such an extraordinary history of movie entertainment in filmmaking for many generations to come
You look eerily similar to Tekking101
I saw u supported Brandon tenold and if u guys do something together I will finally die in peace
You gotta tell Brandon. I would love to do something with him.
*Back to the good old days with the black and white Kong*
Can i help you d man 1954
Cinemassicre copy cat but i like you'res
Cinemassicare didn't patient reviewing a series. He wasn't the first one to review the Kong franchise. Calling it "Kong-A-Thon" also isn't a copy because I announced mine first.
@@DMan1954 That wouldve been me ^_^
@@DMan1954 can you give me the name of you first kongathon
The original movie is still the best.
1933 King Kong is an important part of cinematic history the movie influenced so many to create great original cinematic marvels lots of monster films and more
Especially like the end of this flick.
Wtf? 8th wonder my ass the only thing I’m wondering is what your on
I hate this movie. It's my least favorite of the Kong movies.
brian decarlo it’s ok. But how old are you ?
How can you hate the original? That would be similar to hating Gojira 1954.
At least back up the opinion.
When I was 5 my dad showed me this movie and honestly it scared the hell out of me. The part that bothered me the most was the Kong/T Rex fight. To me it just bothered me when he starts ripping the T rex's jaws open and it's screaming and bleeding. I agree that it's a well made scene for it's time, but that scene just bothered me. Still does till this day. That's why I'm not a fan. All of the other Kong movies really didn't have something like that. Yeah, Peter Jackson's movie had a scene like that, but I was older and it wasn't as bad. I guess this does sound laughable, but this movie just completely freaks me out. Guess I should have kept that opinion to myself.
@@briandecarlo1847 so you were scarred for life by a movie made in the 1930s...just a testament to how amazingly effective this movie was and still is.
Mmhmm. This why you kong boy.😅
Nice review 🙂👍🦍
