Yep I had a woodcraft wall street ll pencil kit that I was making a pen and pencil kit to match with the tiger stripes blank I got a couple years ago at the mid-Ohio pen turners gathering but when I got both turned the tube that was in the kit was to long. So I have a pen but the pencil didn’t work. Thanks for sharing Bob
That is a shame. I spoke to Bob and. He wasn’t sure if the wrong tube came with the kit or if he mixed it up with a tube from another kit. No worries, I’ve made a new tube to the proper length all I need to do is find the right blank to put with it. Regards, Bob
What a great shame Bob. That is a nice blank and a generous gift from Bob. Just a thought could you drill out the tube in the blank and then insert the correct sized tube an glue a contrasting section top and bottom? I know it would be extremely fiddly with very precise drilling but it could work and you would only need to drill out 1/2" or so from either end to glue in the new tube sections that would accept the kit "end caps" and the component parts of the pen. Take care Bob. Cheers, Huw
That is an interesting idea Huw and I tried it once before. I might be able to make that work with a full blank but one that’s already turned is so thin that I’d probably crush it trying to drill it out. Regards, Bob
i seem to be creating plenty of opertunities lately. i wonder could you make a blank from carpenters pencils. sand the paint off the sides and glue piece together to create an angled blank then turn that. could be a bugger to turn but would be cool
Hello Rick, I used some oak recently from the 1640’s. Did to send me some 1800’s oak? My memory is not as good as it use to be but if you did, I can look for it and see if it works with the kit. Regards, Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner Bob I had sent you some maple old oak and some other wood over a year ago in a medium size box you did a video on all the packages that you got that day from the post office. I hope that helps. The oak was from the 1800s. It was from the mud sill of a house built in 1840s.
Hello Rick, I have spent the day looking for the blanks you sent me. I put the persons name and wood type on every blank I receive. I wish I could send you a photo of the boxes of blanks on my shop floor. There is still a ton of wood in the loft but so far I haven’t found your blanks. I do apologize, I know they are here some place and they will eventually surface. Regards, Bob
Bob, very cool kit, I know you will find the perfect blank to turn!
Thank you Fred.

Bob
You are absolutely right things don't always go according to plan. Thank you for a great video.
Thank you Dave,
We all have those days and anyone who says they don’t isn’t telling the truth.

Bob
Celtic knot blanks are always fun to watch come to life when they get turned, even if the blank length wasn't quite right.
Yes they are, I love turning Celtic knots.
Nice kit Bob ! Take care and will see you again 👍
Thank you Kwstas.

Bob
Yea Bob I had the same thing happen to me. I've been kicking myself for sure so now I'm being more careful and watching myself.
This was a total accident. I have made a new tube for the kit and will locate a new blank and get it turned.
Regards,
Bob

I hope you find another kit that blank will work with. Nice you will be able to use the kit looks like it’s a winner.
The kit is a cool one and all I need to do is find a blank for it.
Not sure what kit I could use for the blank but if I find one…

Bob
Awesome video Bob , glad to see my friend
Thank you Donald.

You can always turn a dowel to fill the tube to the length needed which would support it.
Just a thought
That's a nice kit.
Thank you Mark,
With a replacement tube made, all I need to do is find the perfect blank and you’ll see this one again.

Bob
I turned 2 of the 3 kits like this from PSI, and I had a short tube in one kit as well. They sent me a replacement tube for it.
It seems like a really nice Kit other than that.

Bob

Cool idea Alan.
Not sure what I’ll do with this kit just yet. I’m still figuring that out. 😀

Bob
This happened to me not too long ago.
It’s disheartening when it happens.

Bob
Bc maybe you could use some old oak that has been stabilized. The oak from the 1800s.
