ooo this looks good! tho tbh i've never had prahok before so i don't wanna buy a whole jar just to throw it out. given that i like the smell of fish sauce now, how bad is prahok compared to that (after cooking)? lol
Thank you! Prahok does have a strong smell, different from fish sauce, but mellows out when cooked with different aromatics. It adds a lot of umami and a particular fish flavor that works in certain dishes. I hope you give it a try one day 🙂
@@ThunThunChannel i'll deffo be on the lookout for it in the east asian markets around. i really hope i find a smaller jar of it. tho tbh i've never seen it before now that i think about it.
Does that really cook the prahok? I have not cooked with it and eat it minimally. I suppose i have been traumatized when i bought my first jar opened it up and something small was moving! 😅
I feel so bad... I was really excited for try this recipe, specially cz my cooking skills are not too goodI give it to try the first bite to my Khmer boyfriend and his reaction was priceless, he spit it out The prahok was still raw I was dying of shame I was really hungry so I tried again, but this time with prahok for dipping and work it really well! Thanks for the video, hoping getting better at cooking soon
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Lots of respect for you for trying the recipe! 😊 the more you cook with these ingredients, the more familiar you’ll get with them. You’re doing great, glad it turned out good at the end!
Would you please make some video of your home pancake. Thank you in advance. I love your cooking & gardening.

Oh my, that is traumatizing. Yes, this will cook the prahok. You can also cook it longer too.
