Yeah, no one has to admit to being a cop/security if they're asked. Hell, you don't have to give your name to a pissed off Karen if they ask! Another one of the plot conveniences of television dramas being mistaken for real life encounters and laws.

I was going to blame Hollywood on the “you have to tell me you’re a cop“ meme. Then, I thought, “you know, I’ve only heard this in stoner comedies“. Then I realized that the reason I heard it in stoner comedies was because that’s what I would hear stoners say all the time even before Cheech and Chong started making movies. So, in this case, I guess it’s “art imitates life”.
I am a native Floridian. Here is what the investment companies are/were doing, at least until interest rates got high. They would buy a house, and overbid on it. Now these companies already owned 5-6 houses plus in the same area. What they just did was increase the value on the houses they owned. So they don't mind paying over asking. Not only were transplants overbidding on houses this summer, investment companies were too. There is currently a housing shortage which causes these rentals owned by investment companies to charge high rent. A win win for them.
And meanwhile they're pricing locals out of the market and creating a perpetual renters hell. Yeah, I really hate the investor a-holes.
I live in Vancouver, BC. We now have an empty house tax-property prices have been going up so much that you can make money even if you don’t rent it out. So now, if you own a house and don’t rent it out, you have to pay 2%/year, and the money is going to rent subsidies.
That's what is currently going on in Philadelphia. Every house is being bought up, turned into rentals for insane rates while new apartment buildings are going up everywhere. Rent rates have quadrupled in the last 10 years.
My parents are the last people on their street to own their own house and they're being constantly hounded with offers to buy. I'm even being flooded with texts to sell their home.

My father bought a house, and the contract was very explicit about what came with the house and what didn’t. The TV antenna on the roof was included. The date for the transfer was set for the end November. Well, on November 29 there was a storm that blew the antenna off the roof. The seller was still the legal owner of the house, which meant it was his responsibility to replace the antenna. He tried to weasel out of it, but my dad’s lawyer pointed out that the contract said the house came with a TV antenna on the roof, so ultimately he had to pay. If that antenna had blown off two days later my dad would have been out of luck.
Last story reminds me of the last house I sold. Ended up losing money on the deal, but it was brokered through a friend while I was in another state. My buddy was watching the house while I was away, and some guy came up to him and made an offer. After everything was done, maybe six months later, the guy calls up screaming. Apparently, during flood season shockingly the river started flooding, and water backed up through the sewer and into the house, and he wanted me to pay for it. Had to laugh at that one..

Guy that stole the meat story. Most Grocery Stores will end up paying like maybe $25 to $200 for a Whole Slab of uncut deli Meat thats about 10 to 25lbs depends on what type. Then Resell it into Slices for perhaps $4.99 to $9,99 per lb. So most stores will double their money. say 10lb meat slab cost the store $25 to buy. they sell it at $4.99 per poound. well that is $49.90 so just about double what they paid for it. Hence where the 7,000$ value came from. Except they put the price of what the Slab cost which was kindof bad on the store. Which they should of put the price of the slices instead which of been a Much higher Value.
I think even a first year would notice this, and get the case thrown out due to the grocery store lying about the value.
So nothing bad happen in the first story. Boo.
