Penang, GEORGE TOWN - Chew Jetties, Famous Street Art, Little India & Delicious Egg Tarts

- We are in George Town on the island of Penang in Malaysia. Did you know that historic Georgetown is a UNESCO World Heritage city! In this video we are going to take your on a light-hearted and humorous walk through the streets of Penang´s George Town. If you have not already watched our other Penang Travel videos, you will find them in our Penang Travel Playlist found here: • SHANGRI-LA RASA SAYANG... Our George Town walking tour begins at the Clan Jetties a floating village on stilts over the sea located close to the Penang ferry terminal. We take you through the Chew Jetty which is most popular among tourists as it has the longest walkway with the most stilt-houses. We also visit the Lee Clan Jetty.
Following our walk around the Chew Jetty Area we stop for a drink at the Jetty Food Court for some ice cold Tiger Beers!We then make our way to see some of the famous George Town Street Art (Murials) which this Penang City is famous for. We then stop for some selfies and photos of the first piece of GeorgeTown Street Art we come across, the "Kids Hanging out the Window Next to the Bicycle". We then visit the Ming Xiang Tai Pastry Shop to sample some of their delicious Egg Tarts. Then we are off to discover some more Penang Street Art and George Town´s Little India. Watch out for names and places like, The Peranakans, Armenian Street George Town, Art Lane George Town, Cheah Si Sek Tek Tong Temple, Yap Kongsi Temple, Kapitan Keling Mosque, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kuan Yin Teng Temple and the Goddess of Mercy Temple.
We very much enjoyed our time exploring Penang´s George Town and quickly found out that this Malaysian City was a lot bigger and had a lot more to see than we had expected. We can highly recommend visiting Penang and George Town when you are in Malaysia, we will be back in the future!

Unfortunately this was a short trip so we did not have the time. We hope that we can visit and film the temple next time we are in Penang! :-D
Very very enjoyable and love the art on the walls . I just sense Malaysia is an amazing country and so looking forward to our visit once these difficult times are passed . The sun does look fierce and we always look for shelter when we can . Keep up the great work as this was a real nice video 👍

Just got to the end of the video👍. So interesting and relatable. We were at that same drinks spot at The Jetty food court just last night. They have been playing the soccer on the big TV’s so there has been a tonne of atmosphere. The Christmas trees are up now too. As for the egg tarts, we have been buying them most days as I just can’t help myself and it’s an easy walk from where we’re staying. They cost 3 MYR now but still so cheap 😊

I love flying and a lot of people don’t share the same excitement so it’s lovely seeing your enthusiasm in your flight report videos. My Dad was born in Malaysia although he’s not Malaysian and his aunt was living in Penang until her old age so it’s been nice to see a bit more of the country and hopefully next year we can come back 😊
We like the dried Durian in Phuket, even took some Durian sweets home, they were very nice!
South African Milk tart is indeed based on the Asian Egg Tart. As you said, what you had in Penang is very similar.

Hello again Douglas. Nice to hear that you also enjoy the Durian! One really has to try it, it is not as awful as people on YT make it out to be! We like it in ice.cream and have bought some fresh packs of it in Phuket too! We bought some Durian Chocolates and when we opened them at my parents the whole lounge stank, but we did enjoy them HeHe! There is nothing like a good old Melk Tert, I must get Maro to make one, some Koeksisters will go down well too. We just returned from George Town and we were at Savv Hotel which is across the street from the Jetties. Did you notice jetty area is very dirty and homes discharge there dirty toilet and sink water directly into the river we have photos of this did not like jetties at all
