First of all... Awesome job you two. Most people would use 5/8" drywall because cement board is heavy. But what you have done will last forever. And thanks Jim for watching Lydia like you do. When my wife was alive, she would never let on that she was not 100% and I would have to watch and say that we needed a break without telling her I was doing that for her. And thank you for caring for the birds. It is nice to see people that can hunt and fish for their food and still show compassion for animals.
Now, I think you will enjoy this. I went to the big orange box store for a paint roller to paint my shop. I knew where the rollers were, but wanted to give the new girl there a hard time. So I walked up and waited my turn and when she asked if she could help me, I told her I needed a concrete smoothing Hootis. Without skipping a beat, she said "Did you want a 3/8" or 1/2" smoothing hootis?" Okay that caught me totally off guard. She started laughing and said "I love watching Cajun Country Livin".
Hope you feel better Lydia. Jim will take care of you.

We are sorry to hear about your late wife. I bet you have some great stories to tell. 🤍Part of a marriage is knowing the other person. You can tell you cared a lot for her & I’ll bet she was the same to you. 🤍
We respect nature to the fullest. Nature gives to us and we give back to nature.
Oh my gosh, that’s the best thing ever! If you go back in there and see her, please tell her to email us! 😃 It’s something as someone as the word, “hootis” that can put a smile on someone’s face. Much love to you.

I sure hope you feel better soon. I found y'all about a month or so ago and I binged watched all episodes, now I have to wait for Sunday and Wednesdays to watch. Poor me!!! LOL I live here in Louisiana in a town called Krotz Springs known for cops giving tickets. We don't even have a red light, but Hwy. 190 runs through our small town. Y'all remind me of me and my husband we did every project together ourselves. They were not nearly as large as y'alls, but we were very proud. My husband of 54 years passed last August, and I am still so devastated, so watching y'all brings back so many wonderful memories. Thanks, guys, for the memories!!!!

Also, it's a bit late but I wanted to suggest to Lydia in struggling with the sheets with her biceps to drop to a squat position, then use her leg power to lift the sheets onto the rack. Kind of like weight lifters do. She'd have to rotate her hands while doing it. Might be beneficial the next time. Still, y'all got er done!

I finally finished every video you have posted here. I loved them all. I can't remember what I was watching when your videos were first recommended, but I'm sure glad they were. I love your relationship. I love your determination. I love your inquisitiveness. I love your attitude. Jim, you are truly a jack-of-all trades who loves his family immensely. The care you show towards Lydia and Ladley is heartwarming. Lydia, oh my gravy, you are a beast. Is there anything you won't tackle. THe videos of you working during nap time are some of my favorites. Not to be crude, but your video thumbnails are superb. Ladley, You are an adorable, fearless little girl. I hope you always appreciate what your parents have done for you.
If I had 1 request for a future video (or short) it would be an overview of your property. As I watch the videos I'm starting to connect the same points in each, which helps to give me an overall sense of the layout. Maybe it's time for the CCL 1000 Land Survey Drone Hootis. Keep the videos coming!

L needed a 2x6 to step up on to reach the hook - LOL. Looks good. Hope it doesn’t get to hot inside and cook the birds. Thanks for sharing

That would be a great idea! The best is close to the opening so plenty of airflow to go through!

I wanted to say at the time because you dont use Stud Adhesive when putting sheets up, Ild recommend you to put some Flat Head Nails to hold the sheets up and not what looks on video to be bullet head nails as over time the sheets could pull through.

Count it lucky that you didn't put scissor trusses that are angled on the top and the bottom. It looks like you have done a spectacular job...but it is heavy work. Well done!

I'm doing the same thing with my bird nest now... I waited for babies to leave, but before I could finish my screened in porch, they came back and laid more eggs... same birds as yours, a waiting game lol

Haha we know the feeling! We are going to take the nest down after babies are gone. They will lay in the same nest multiple times during their season.

Yall, that didnt look fun.. or easy at all. I think its the first time I've seen yall do something that yall didnt look like you were enjoying. Great job getting through that. I cant help but think the other porch is quite a bit larger, so are you planning on doing the same thing to it 😮🤢. If so, Im thinking have some sort of a step up so you dont have to try and lift that awkward stuff so high to get it on the lift? Lydia, you are a beast!! Being under the weather and accomplishing all that is very commendable. Hopefully you get to feeling better soon. Have a great week yall!!

When I was editing this, I thought the same thing! I hate to say it being a 5’10” woman, but I think that would’ve been a great idea! It ended up being the stomach flu, but I’m on the mend now!

As @mamich08 said, it looks good and will last forever. However, you both should count your blessings that the Harbor Freight sheetrock lift you were using (150 lb capacity) didn't come crashing down on you. I think you are going for a certain look or hoping it will last through a hurricane which is great but all you needed for the porch ceiling was 1/4" plywood. I suggest painting it sky blue and the birds won't nest up there either, they will think it is the sky. I have enjoyed following ya'lls journey. I know I'm preaching like a Dad because I am. Happy Fathers Day, Jim
