    Thank you for coming back to us here in Norway. The reason there is no off road driving in Norway it`s because the fragile state of nature, long winter, short growing period, aka short summer. It take`s hundreds of year`s to grow back a little tire track, especially in the mountains. Looking forward to the rest of this trip. Keep up the great work!

      The reason for no off-road driving in Norway is fragile politicians and a select few people.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  10 месяцев назад +5

      Sounds like a nice idea, but i think we all know that if everyone was allowed to ride/drive where they wanted, many would kick the arse out of it until either the landscape is ruined, somebody gets killed or both.

    • @mattis537
      @mattis537 10 месяцев назад +1

      The reason for not allowing off-road travel is as a reaction to how it was pre -73 where it was 100% free for all. Unfortunatly thanks to lobbying from various organizations this will not change in the forseeable future. Unfortunate that these rules are among why we are building so many roads in the mountain, because its easyer to make that then to establish a trail.

      Thankfully the foot of the Aprilia's sidestand is far more substantial, so doesn't really need one. TBH though, it was mostly bad judgement. I even had a sidestand puck with me, but didn't use it! 🤦

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  10 месяцев назад +1

      @laggmonkei For me the thinking was not having another sticky-outy edge on the bike to catch on stuff. Plus the stand on the 1090 is very long, so it always felt like the bike stood a little too vertical already. I once put it on the stand on a slight incline and when i leaned on the seat for a rest, the compression of the suspension meant suddenly the bike was completely vertical and it fell over!! Not at all embarrassing. For those around me, it just looked like i got off and pushed my own bike over!!

    I'm from that place, drove the tet route in start of June 2023. There wasn't much snow then, lovely place. Incredibly excited for the next part of the route. There we encountered a snowdrift that we had to dig our way through. So I'm looking forward to your next video. Great stuff

      Sounds very adventurous! I did find the odd snowdrift but, spoiler alert, being on my own and worried about the egg-on-face scenario of needing to be rescued from a road i possibly shouldn’t be riding yet, i re-routed!! Well, obviously i tried a bit first, but it was less than successful!! 🤣

    Thank you for behaving respectfully. 🙂There are many dirt roads that are closed during this period in the spring when the frozen ground under the road melts. During fall and winter, when the ground under the road gets frozen, this is not a problem because you get an "ice bridge" that forms slowly and evenly. However, when the road starts to melt in the spring, it doesn't melt evenly and you then get many characteristic bumps in the road called "telehiv" " in Norwegian or "frost heaving" in English. Heavier vehicles such as cars, tractors, trucks, etc. can and very often will make these bumps way worse and makes bumps that would have normally even out stay there permanently. You can actually often see small sinkholes where cars have made holes in the frozen ground.
    Many of these roads are private, including the one you had to turn at which was closed with a chain, and it is the landowners themselves who have to do/pay for the maintenance of the road and they naturally want to the limit expenses. I don't think they care that much about a relatively light motorcycle like yours riding there, but it is usually easier to enforce a total driving ban than driving ban with exceptions.

    lovely to finaly see the KTM in action altho we all know it only had a brief appearance on the channel..... ive commented before when you said you took the bike to do the Norwegian TET that its a very Big Bike frendly part of the TET but going up there during the snow melt does make it tricky..... the reasoning for the road closure is that the base of the roads are soft due to the frost deep in the ground not yet thawed and that traps moisture in the top layers.... as demonstrated by you side stand taking a deep dive on a surface that would probably be rock solid a few weeks later 🤣 any traffic on the road during this period REALLY messes up the roads......
    for your next outing on the Aprilia i would suggest either the baltic countries or sweden.... its a bit more technical without going full on Enduro mode 😁

      I know right! It almost seemed like the KTM was never really there, until finally a video made it real!! Makes perfect sense with the road closures. Pointless destroying a road in the first 2 weeks of summer, so nobody can use it for the other 4 weeks of summer! 😜 After visiting Sweden briefly this spring, I did realise that it could be a good next option. Summer probably starts a couple of says earlier too!

    The sitting vs standing thing takes a bit of getting used to.
    I stood a lot when first riding on gravel, then with time developed the confidence to sit more.
    Gassing it out of the corner when you sitting is a lot of fun, back wheel spins and you feel the bike’s natural response is to ‘stand up’. Once I trusted that feeling, sitting down was a lot easier (and less tiring)!

    Even if you're not going to take it offroad, the point of an adventure bike (to me) is the open seating position, compliant suspension, luggage options, and good road manners. ADV bikes are the modern equivalent of what old-timers like me used to call "standards," which were all we had before motorcycles veered off on different evolutionary paths toward more narrow-focus and specialized configurations. I like ADVs and I'm not ashamed to say if I had one I'd put street tires on it and stick to pavement riding.

    Great to see a tourist understanding and respecting the strict law against driving in "utmark". In this particular case, I think it is forbidden by the private land/road owners because the road is too soft, so driving it it will leave deap grooves destroying the soft road. By the wording on the sign, you can be pretty sure idiot tourists before you have ignored the rule and destroyed the road previous years.

    Adventure bikes are fun, I have one. But I would never get rid of my CBR1000RR. I am genuinely concerned that letting go of the CBR would cause me to loose experience in riding on road.
    And I don’t want to get better off road at the expense of getting worse on road.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  9 месяцев назад

      I wholeheartedly disagree! I ride just as quick on the road on an adventure bike as I did on the CB. Only difference is that i do it in comfort and have to stop at petrol stations less often! 😂. I also firmly believe that even this short period of riding off the tarmac has improved my skills and feel on the tarmac. I used to panic every time the tyres even seemed like they might be on the edge of traction. Now i feel like they have plenty more to give and that the bike moving around and doing its thing is normal and nothing to freak out about. All great skills for staying relaxed and , as a result, becoming a better rider.

      @@AndyManCamOne bike doesn’t replace the other. Variety is the spice of life.

      I rode a CB125S (street bike) off road and for 5 winters in a row on shear ice. No studs, just rubber.
      And I learnt a lot.
      But you are kidding yourself if you think that an ADV bike will keep your skills at taking curves sharp on the streets.
      If you value taking it easy and just getting from point A to point B in comfort without being to concerned about your skills taking curves improving, then you may have made the right choice.

    Do you have to remind us of all these shitty wars going on in your profile logo? We ride motorcycles and go to RUclips to consume motorcycle content to take our minds of the depressing news and wars. It would be appreciated if you abstained from reminding us of the misery. ❤🕊️
    Great video BTW, will be interesting to follow. Considering those roads myself this year. At a slightly warmer time.

      Thanks mate. Norway is 100% worth the effort. I totally get your point, we all need a bit of escape. Sadly this stuff is going on and for the sake of those who are being forgotten, the least I can do is to show that I'm thinking of them. I'll not preach political views in the videos but that small symbol of support might mean something to those who need it.

      @@AndyManCam… I thought both the initial comment and your response were both measured and respectfully made… which is as it should be. Personally, I’m a huge fan of your content in both its style and quality and look forward to the new stuff as it arrives, because it provides a welcome escape from the constant misery going on in the world. With regard to your logo I totally respect yours and everyone else’s views and feelings on many important issues… on a personal note, with the overwhelming state of so many things at the moment I’m starting to suffer from a ‘virtue-signalling’ overload and the logo unfortunately falls into that category now… I can only hope that this global clusterf@*k can get sorted sooner rather than later… much love and respect to you and yours, Andy 🥰😁👍🏼👍🏼

      @adamnunn9723 I totally agree Adam. If only everybody spoke to each other in the internets with respect and a lack of escalation eh! Totally get your point too mate. It’s a generally disappointing state of affairs in the world at large and virtue signaling certainly is an ugly part of it. But that’s definitely not my intention. I hope that all those who aren’t interested can simply ignore the logo. I just want any viewers who are affected to know that they are not ignored. Hopefully there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, but overall it’s been a very disappointing time for the state of modern society. 😖

      @@AndyManCam… your response to my post just cemented my view that you’re as far removed from ‘virtue signalling’ as it’s possible to be… you just wanted to do something positive… which I completely understood… and respectful discourse matters enormously!! I respect you, your channel, your content, style and opinions enormously and a logo certainly ain’t a reason for me to start having an over-reaction to it!! Much love and much respect mate… 🥰🥰😁😁👍🏼👍🏼

      @adamnunn9723 Thank you most heartily Adam. I actually continue to be surprised that it seems 99% of the comments on this channel are all positive and encouraging. An enclave of respect in an internet sea of trolling! (I’ve probably jinxed it now)

    It’s great if you enjoy and want to do it , I couldn’t unless I was on a small 200cc trail bike that’s very easy to manage. I haven’t seen a video for ages have you just been busy? You be careful, look after yourself 😊👍🏍️🫣
