How far out can the base be? I have an existing slab that isn't totally level will it be a problem? How would it work for the PIR for the floor is there some give? Love the videos very helpful 👍
great video mate very easy to follow, how important is screwing the timber based into the concrete slab, i have seen some skip this and others use impact drivers and go to work, does it matter if this is skipped, is it going to fall off like? cheerses
@@thediyfix thanks for the reply. Due to the nature of being land locked with very limited access I've opted for a compacted gravel base. So perhaps I need a few bearers to allow airflow.
I’m just about to start a build which is 12 x 10 and they recommend 2 x 4 timber for the frame. I noticed yours is 3 x 1. Is it solid enough? It’s looking good 👍
The only reason I am using 3x2 for the floor is that its sat directly on top of the base. Its really going to depend on the type of base you are using. For the walls I am using 4x2 and 5x2 for the roof joists. This leaves my finished hight at around 2495mm which is just within permiteed development. I hope this helps, you can see a quick preview of the walls and roof here: ruclips.net/user/shortsZZ_XUk1wpTM
@@thediyfix I can't help but think that we over enginner these buildings. If you look at any online shed for sale, it will have 1 1/2" square or 1 1/2 x 2" frames at maybe 1 m centers. My current one is 1 to 1 1/2" frame and has been up for 20+ years, though I'm now building a new one with a 3x2" frame.
@@thediyfix that's amazing! Looking to do this project in my garden at some point! Need to do a shed first though. Would also be interested how you got power to your garden room and the other electrics inside 🤙🤙

Great video series - did you not need to leave a ventilation gap on the floor to avoid damp or does the DPM do enough?
good video, just wondering why you didnt put the dpm under the concrete and then you wouldnt have compromised it with the screw holes?
Great video. Hopeful to start mine this summer. What was depth of MOT layer and then the concrete slab? Sorry if I missed this in the video!
MOT was a tonne bag . Good luck with your build, you’ll smash it mate. I started towards the end of May and weather was perfect
great vid, very clear. do you recall type of waterproof boards you used? what advantages over usb and then laminate or engineered wood? thank you
The boards are like Egger protect, just a comparable brand from my local builders merchants

In theory you could pack the floor up to level it out. How far out of level is it?

I would 100% recommend fixing it
Great video. I'm about to start my build now I've finished my base. Any issue with not having airflow under the floor?
I dont think so the floor is protected with the DPM from any rising moisture

Great video. What thickness insulation boards did you use between the floor joists? Thanks
Hi Nathan, I used 50mm in the floor an walls and 100mm in the ceiling
@@thediyfix great. thanks for the quick reply

Did you wrap around the DPM?
DPM same as pond liner?
What size nails / screws did you use for the base and the internal walls please?
Screws were 100mm and 1st fix nals from the nail gun were 90mm
@@thediyfix thank you very much.
Hey mate do you have the plans for you build here?
Hi Ollie, I’m in the process of putting them together. Should be ready for the end of March

Which fixings did you use to fix to concrete please?
Hi Andy, I used 65mm multi purpose screws and brown plugs
No membrane under the slab ?
No I added a membrane above, both above and below are acceptable options
