Like... if someone invades NK, china will literally just transport xx% of their army within a few days without anyone seeing via air. This is where russia failed. @SuperNostalgia. I love this expression of faith. And no doubt it took courage on your part to express that faith publicly, considering how society's view of religion has changed in recent years. However, I believe the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ and God and two separate people. Jesus said: "the Father is greater than I am"-John 14:28 The Bible even says that Jesus had "godly fear".-Hebrews 5:7 When complimented, Jesus said: "Why do you call me good? Nobody is good except one, God."-Mark 10:18 I hope to hear back from you, and I appreciate it if you've read this far. I would love to hear your thoughts on these verses. Knowing Jesus identity is a vital part of our salvation, so it's always good to discuss it, whether we have the same views or not.
The video is high quality but the research is low-mid. He ignores the fact that it is China that has allowed NK to exist as long as it has and that it is China that makes any move on NK impossible without starting a major global war.

8:32 That's essentially what will happen. The regime only looks to stall as much as they can to maintain their power, but once they cannot do so anymore, they will run out of options.
There's a comment I found interesting in ATP 7-100.2 (the US Army document used as a source). It says that "another reason that the current leader is treated so reverently is that life for the average North Korean has improved under Kim Jong Un, as compared to the famine of 1994-1998 during his father’s regime-which many North Koreans still remember". I was reminded of it when the Michael Malice quote came up as both relate to food security. Perhaps this is an element of why the state hasn't fallen, and probably won't in the near future? Then again maybe things have become significantly worse since ATP 7-100.2 was published (Jul 2020)
Unfortunately, that regime will never fall - China supports it, they survived famine, and people were brainwashed by generations and every nation doesn't mind if the North Korean regime will exist, even the South - they just can't afford reunion - North is super poor. For the USA North Korea is the perfect scarecrow, for China - loyal neighbor, who you always may ask to scare the USA by nuclear test, for Russia - also friendly neighbor.
Oh believe me the state will fall!! Maybe not under Kim but soon enough. You can only fool people for so long before reality comes knocking at their door in forms of suffering
well... they have the Chinese's backing... if war broke out, it'd be a repeat of the 50's Korean War (the war didn't actually end... yada... yada...) And the CCP is happy to provide for the DPRK, even if they ain't so happy with certain things... ( I might say the old imperial tributary system might even be in place... )
The only reason they still "back them" is to not have a US ally on their borders, but even China is done with their activity. In the case of a war, I doubt China will help them out. It'd cost too much money that they will never get back and in the scenario they win the reward is not worth it. China is too smart to get involved and waste resources on a land the entire world, including themselves, see as a nuisance.
The tributary system only meant countries had the right to trade with Imperial China and they would send gifts to the Emperor but he must give them a gift of greater value in return and they must respect the authority of the Emperor. The Emperor must respect that particular king as the rightful ruler of his kingdom
They had nuclear now, that's why, its not that complicated. US and its allies tread very carefully againt nation that has this kind of arsenal, but they will be not hesitate at all to bulldoze any "unfriendly" nation such as Vietnam, Afganistan, Iraq, Libya or Syria
I’m going to draw everyone’s attention to DPRK’s aging Weapons stockpiles. A few months ago, a DPRK ship carrying artillery munitions was seized and its Cargo munitions handed to the Ukrainian Military, the Ukrainian Army quickly ditched using the rounds because the DPRK rounds had a dud rate in the high 40 percentile range. Keep that in mind
Actually a pretty compelling video. I didn't really think about it this way, especially since there are so many myths about the Kims. Hard to really tell what's real, y'know? Good job bro, this video was insanely professional.
The reason why i subscribed is we are on the same direction i like making these type of videos and learn about countries behaviour, or enter thr world of geopolitical,
I know you brought up negotiations skills but I would have wanted to hear more about Chinese and North Korean relations since North Korea I often heard depend on China a lot
I heard it's not a very good fun fact that a lot of the eastern block during the Cold War had a tense relationship with North Korea Kim I'll Sung wasn't the puppet the USSR wanted. In terms of China Mao supposedly called Kim a bad communist apparently for owning American cars and living a luxurious life. Kim asked Mao to help them develop nukes and Mao was like hell no that still does not sit well with China today that North Korea was able to successfully do that. In the late 1970s North Korea and China had a minor border dispute regarding Mount Paektu which at that time majority of the mountain was on China's side it was a mountain that held a special place for all Koreans so obviously North Korea wanted most of the mountain. China and NK set up a meeting where they would deal with this matter in preparation Deng asked his staff to go find the documents signed 200 years prior by The Qing Dynasty and Joseon Korea regarding the border but turns out they were either not kept properly or was damaged during the Cultural Revolution so China technically had no legal basis to own Mount Paektu and trough the North Koreans shrewd diplomacy they got the Chinese to agree to their demands which gives DPRK control over most of the mountain but today Chinese nationalist is not very happy how that meeting went down and blames their government for showing weakness and caving to the Koreans they also call for renegotiation with DPRK.
"Kleos, your insightful and deep dive into the intricacies of North Korean politics, history, and socio-economic structure is commendable. The level of detail and research in this video feels unparalleled. It's interesting to see the role global superpowers play in shaping the narrative and decision-making. While many comments emphasize external influences on DPRK, I believe the internal dynamics, societal conditioning, and fear play an equally powerful role. If there's a change to be anticipated, it might likely be from within, albeit its challenges given the tight grip on information dissemination. Looking forward to more videos like this and supporting your growth! 🔥📚 #DeepDiveIntoDPRK"
The tunnels are of limited value. The entrances and exits can be easily located by satellite or drone surveillance, and are vulnerable to airstrikes. Keep in mind that South Korea has access to US intel and a large, modern, well-trained air force. North Korea, on the other hand, depends mostly on obsolete cold-war era aircraft and its pilots have little training due to chronic spare parts and fuel shortages. But on the other points Kleos is correct - the mountainous terrain and their soldiers' willingness to endure suffering and keep fighting are the Norks' greatest assets. That and the fact that no one wants their damn country anyway.
You do know that North Korea invaded South Korea first right? In fact the commies had driven the capitalists all the way to sea but the US came and pushed the DPRK all the way to the China border then China and the DPRK push the US and South Koreans all the way to the current border.
Yeh … what a shame …. Now no one pays any attention to them … all that military might and they still couldn’t even win a game of tiddly winks… look at the mess they left in Afghanistan….hey … but they said the job was done …! ( oh dear ! )
Great video. I have watched a lot of stuff on NK and this is the most interesting one about their military and defenses. Never knew about the tunnels into the south. I wonder if the south has tunnels into the north? Probably.
I doubt the south would have tunnel on the North, North Korea is the most secure country in the world, with 24 hour active patrol, both infantry and in the sky, plus the South want to do anything in its power to prevent a war.
That's kind of a dumb statement, if you think about it: "North Korea has tunnels that lead to South Korea, but has South Korea have tunnels that lead to North Korea?" Duh, these tunnels aren't one way. Every Tunnel from the north leading to the south can be used for the opposite direction.
I consider it no coincidence that North Korea is basically built like one of Yi Sun-sin's famed turtle ships. With China to two sides and Japan on another, historically speaking, defense is a much greater concern than expansion for anyone on the Korean peninsula, and we humans always draw from what we have grown up around.
When North Korea bombed South Korea island in year 2010 many South Korean soldiers wanted to go to war against the NK but USA stopped it many South Korean soldiers became anti USA after that. It seems USA just wanted to divide two Koreas forever. North Korean defector said that NK soldiers feared SK when SK retaliated with K9 Howitzers and killed more than 20 NK soldiers in 2010.
It goes beyond reuniting Korea, South Korea can roll right on up to the Yalu on their own, but just like in 1951 you have to deal with the Maoist and just like in 1951 they'll send their army marching across the Yalu. The main problem being this time is nuclear weapons in both North Korea and Maoist China, would the possible loss of Soul be worth rolling up to the Yalu?
@@oveidasinclair982 even after the Korean War South Korea wanted to defeat all Chinese and go all the way but USA stopped it. That’s why only South Korea refused to signed the armistice while China North Korea USA signed jt. It’s pretty clear USA just want to divide two Koreas and take advantage of the tensions in Korean Peninsula.
I don't really see why NK is impossible to conquer from this video. Don't get me wrong, the video is interesting etc. but: 1) Tunnels -> what do we care if they hide tanks or can lunch jest from tunnels? Those tanks and jets are trash and will be destroyed the moment they appear. And even if a jet suddenly lunches behind a F-35 or F-16, does anyone really think it has any chances still? They can hide in tunnels? Well yes, they can maybe but if the attacking force really will want to win, it will identify those tunnels slowly and just collapse the entrances without even needing to enter them. 2) North Korea has a huge army but doesn't have the food nor the ammo or fuel or logistics for a long fight. Besides it is one thing to have 1 million soldiers on paper and another to equip or train them. Russia just has shown us that and it is supposed to be the 2nd military power in the world and is light years away from NK technologically and militarily. 3) Yes, NK could maybe lunch an attack from the tunnels on the SK side, but it would be reppeled because SK has an excellent army + the US has troops there. Of course it would be chaos etc. but again -> NK has outdated equipment and is low on ammo, which makes it easy for SK and the US to defend after the initial surprise. Again -> it won't be without heavy casualties but it will ultimately end that way. 4) Propaganda and brainwashing is of course important but it won't be the US that will invade NK. The US will support and maybe send some troops etc. but it will mainly be SK that will occupy territory. Which means that SK citizens will have a "brotherly" occupation force which makes things very different than if it was outsiders. 5) The people of NK are quite aware of how the world looks like on the other side of their borders. They are also mass dying from hunger, have no hospitals etc. so they will rather easilly accept the first occupation force, especially SK, that will take care of them. And so on, so on. NK can be conquered. The real tragedy is that no one is interested in doing that. SK would have to bear an enormous cost, first militarily and second financially to win the war and then start changing NK into a modern country. There would be also a long and very hard to withstand partisan war with parts of the NK regime. And of course there is the risk nuclear weapons will be used, or that China will get involved. So when we look at it and how poor a country NK is, then there is just no sense at all to try to conquer it. And that could be why we could say it is "unconquerable" but not the reasons mentionned in the video. No one cares about NK and the poor people of that country.
That is incorrect. The USS PUEBLO is still on the Naval Registry as a Commissioned vessel of the United States Navy that has been captured and is temporarily in enemy hands. It is still property of the United States Government, even though it’s being used as a museum in Pyongyang.
no, it is not. It never declared independence. they should have done that in the 60s. and could have negotiated with china for mutual recognition and access to the UN like the Germans and koreans @@martinputt6421
Now the Chinese government can use the precedent of Navono Carabath and the Croatians in Operation Storm en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Storm @martinputt6421
2 words: "Bunker Busters" They can penetrate 60m+ reinforced bunkers and was used to takeout the iraqi high command in the 1st gulf war. Its not gonna be easy, but its not impossible either. You also only need to collapse each end of the tunnel/entrance, then its useless. (atleast for the airstrip exits and 1-exit deployment tunnels)
It doesn't need to be conquered just neutralized. The most probable US attack would consist of a TOT attack by several Trident II missiles. NK has no missile warning system so their first clue would be when 28 or more W76 nuclear warheads detonated simultaneously in a counterforce and decapitation strike.
I mean The United States and The United Nations did invaded and almost conquered North Korea, but then China came in and pushed us back. Don't think it's much about territorial issues but rather diplomatic chain reactions that could easily spiral out of control.
Honestly the most important point is left out: its neighbours are the friendly (overall, with ups and downs in the last decades) China and Russia. If they were opposed as NK is to the US, it would have crumbled. It also imports a lot of resources from them.
I politely disagree - or at least think you missed a seriously key factor in terms of 'master of negations' - they have always been careful to keep at least one strong ally at all times. Either Russia or China, or both. They're not impossible to conquer, they're *costly* and slow to conquer. Which is all they need when eventually allies will arrive to back them up. You can siege down those bunkers until supplies run out and just take the cities. Even their Nukes aren't that much of an issue, if America really wanted to - it could probably shoot most down and not even need to retaliate with such, especially if they were the only focus, but they're not - china is! It's the same with the Swiss, they're HARD to conquer, but the reason they're impossible is they have too many friends. Even during WW2 where Nazi Germany and Italy totally encompassed them, the reason they survived was because it was too expensive to be worth it. It's the same idea of why Germany attacked Russia - because it thought it was going to become too hard to conquer -soon-, but it was too late and Russia was large enough to implement that strategy mid-war. Modern Finland is the same way. Russia would love to devour Finland but even if it wasn't part of Nato it has one of the most passionate military's and conscription services. But it doesn't need to win. It just needs to make conquest slow enough for allies to back it up. It's why it didn't even bother joining Nato until it realized it may get the chance to kick Russias ass if it keeps fucking around. It's the winning strategy of modern war. You don't need to win - you just need to make war too expensive to be worth doing. Nukes are just the extreme version of this where the cost is : the entire fucking world.
Tbh tho, NK's allies nowadays are actually pretty reluctant. If Korean War were to reignite, I could see China invading North Korea to seize as much land as possible from them.
You don't get it. The only place that is getting Nuked by North Korea is Seoul. THAT is a fact. Kim has even said if he is attacked, Seoul will be the first target. Nothing can stop a nuke attack that close. That is the ONLY reason they have not been attacked and never will be as long as they have nukes.
I agree with you in some ways but we invaded Iraq and conquered them within a few months but that was because we had allies I think North Korea would be easier because of new systems and tactics plus revamping old tactics like shock and awe
Yes how true it is.The all powerful America has never won a war against a superior nation.Even with its allies , friends and the willing it ran from Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos,Iraq.afganistan to name a Russia and China won't have to go to war with them. They will ground them financially.
So North Korea could become an even more advanced version of Peleliu, Iwo Jima, or Okinawa? That would be a really terrifying scenario, especially since those places were bloodbaths with some of the highest casualty figures of World War II with regard to the forces involved.
The americans actually suffered way more casualties against the Germans than the Japanese. The americans had 400,000 dead in ww2, 300,000 of those were against the Germans and almost 60,000 in just the battle of the bulge alone
not only that, they have tons of artillery pointed directly at Seoul, which is very close to the DMZ. A new Korean War would be horrible (not even considering the nuclear weapons)
Interesting video. (Future "North") Koreans remember the days where they had to leave underground to survive the carpet bombing of the entire country during the Korean War (1950-1953). 32,000 tones of napalms were dropped everywhere.
When and when will Korea be unified? I am so sick of this on-going war! Germany was so lucky to be unified for 35 to 45 years now and they did not experience an on-going war like Korea did! So sad!
@@baekdumountaintiger5701 Facts. Not even South Korea wants it. The cost of reunification would far exceed what Germany experienced. East German were at least educated and not malnourished and brain washed. South Korea would be bankrupt for generation incorporating the North. Not to mention, China and Japan would experience significant destabilization from the influx of millions from a broken country. Also, the North has a vast biological weapons programs that would unleash hell on the region if they were to use them as a means of last resort.
You could blame President Johnson for lacking the cajones to stand up to North Korea and many Americans still do. Yet in 1968 Johnson had few options, all of them bad. First, the U.S. was heavily embroiled in Vietnam. Johnson did not feel secure retaliating against North Korea and starting a second war. More, Johnson was terrified of a second Korean War where a much stronger Red China might intervene. Red China effectively threw the U.S. and UN out of North Korea in 1950-51. In 1968 Red China was far stronger militarily. In addition Johnson feared the Soviet Union becoming involved. Thus in 1968 Johnson's advisors must have been pleading with him not to start a Third World War in East Asia over an expendable Navy trawler and 83 expendable Navy men. That's right. In a scene of ugly geopolitics and realpoliticks, those 83 Navy men were deemed expendable by their government rather than risk the lives of tens of thousands of American servicemen in a new Asian war, just as the war in Vietnam reached a fever pitch. So you decide for yourself whether Johnson's decision not to come to the rescue of the Navy ship and it's men was the right thing to do. Interested, to this day, American foreign analysts and military strategists and historians prefer to abstain from any clear opinion. It appears Johnson, faced with only bad and worse decisions, decided to take what he felt at the time was the least of the bad choices available.
The USA failed to defeat Vietnam, how can people expect USA to defeat North Korea that is multiple times stronger and more aggressive? Had strong Soviet and China support.
Good question. The Korean War was in stalemate for 2 years, from summer 1951 to summer 1953. In late October 1950 to January 1951 the Peoples Liberation Army of Red China attacked the Americans, South Koreans, and other UN forces just below the Yalu River, forcing all of them to retreat out of North Korea by year's end. Next began the PLA's multi-campaigns to drive the UN and South Korean forces further down the peninsula and either out into the Yellow Sea and Sea of Japan or else surrender. @@globaltheater9343
@@r3n736we did basically defeat North Korea during the war. They went and cried to China, almost starting a third world war. Numbers are a big factor, there were maybe 150k soldiers in all of Korea when the Chinese responded with 300k soldiers along 25 miles pushing south. The only reason we didn't push back after getting put on the 38th parallel is because of politics with China and Russia. Technically Vietnam was not a military defeat for the us, it just became an unpopular war like the Middle East, 1.7 million casualties for the NVA/VC compared to 350,000 casualties with only 47,000 Kia compared to 1.1 million Kia is considered a success, both were by no means total victory like we saw over Japan or Germany in WWII but they weren't catastrophic and humiliating defeats either
@@theboshow9697Exactly we killed millions of Vietnamese and destroyed villages and annihilated forests which the country still has not recovered from it just became unpopular war
the only major reason north korea had managed to stand was due to them being backed by the soviet union and china even then the korean war was basically a stalemate
I think you forgot to mention the only and sole reason why North Korea remains untouchable: Chinese and Russian support. Back in the Korean War when US-led forces captured Pyongyang, it was the 500000 strong Chinese "volunteer" army and Soviet technical assistance that saved DPRK from defeat. When DPRK captured USS Pueblo, yes, they didn't have nukes, but their Soviet and Chinese allies have back then. The US, ROK, and Japan have the means and the forces to defeat DPRK even with the reasons you listed. They can naval blockade DPRK to stop it from circumnavigating the sanctions. The USA have advanced munitions to target those underground tunnels. A deep tunnel would be useless if the entrance caved-in. Besides, all the resource, production facilities, and logistics that will support these positions are still all out in the open in their cities. A well dug mountain position is useless without supplies. Propaganda didn't make good defense against USAF like in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. Even if North Korea retaliates against civilians using artillery or biological WMDs, these can be mitigated with planning and preparations. Let's not even compare DPRK's nuclear arsenal compared to the USA's The USA, ROK, and Japan can wipe DPRK from the face of the Earth given the former's superior military advantage like how the USA bombed DPRK to a rubble back again in the Korean War. It's the prospect of China and Russia getting involve that can escalate into a world war.
Well duh. That’s the point of allies. If the US and Japan are gonna help South Korea then you should obviously expect China and Russia to help North Korea..
The UN mission was to push them back to the 38 but they decided to push almost to China that the Chinese push the UN back to almost the 38. And the only Reason why the UN sent soldiers was because the Soviets were boycotting the UN so that Mainland China can have the UN seat since it represented the overwhelming majority of Chinese unlike Taiwan. So Taiwan lost their seat Mainland got the veto power & Korea got UN soldiers to help. If it wasn’t for the Soviets boycotting the UN they could have used Veto power
@@nicks8277 to be fair, if there were no US/UN intervention during the Korean War, Korea would’ve been unified then too- just under communism… which we obviously weren’t gonna let happen
North Korea is perfectly conquerable, we did so back in the 50's and had the North Koreans pushed all the way back to the border with China. The only reason that they were able to push back at all is because China sent in 300,000 troops to help. Rome was thought to be unconquerable too, Hannibal proved them wrong. There isn't a single place on this entire Earth that can't be invaded with enough resources and the most difficult country to invade is the United States with the only reasonable routes to invade being through Alaska and Mexico. Improbable doesn't mean impossible.
@@jarrodwilson2382 America could actually had swept Vietnam off but the thing was that they were in fear that if they did get too close (just like they did to NK) they would be involved with another giant war and even more deaths would be conflicted more than in our current timeline. So it was more like an endless war and trying to make South Vietnam work like South Korea but the problem was the French puppet were too corrupted and basically hated by vietnamese because 1. They were French and 2. They were Catholic. So in reality it was more difficult to explain than that US lost in vietnam even with 40 allies because of their military but in reality it was politics in that war that made them lose.
I wouldn't trust American propaganda any more than North Korean propaganda.

well... they have the Chinese's backing... if war broke out, it'd be a repeat of the 50's Korean War (the war didn't actually end... yada... yada...)
And the CCP is happy to provide for the DPRK, even if they ain't so happy with certain things... ( I might say the old imperial tributary system might even be in place... )
@SuperNostalgia. man North Korea would love you, they need more folks that wanna be subjected to a cult 😗
Until those unfriendly countries get support from powers like China, Russia like in Vietnam and Afghanistan allegedly

I know you brought up negotiations skills but I would have wanted to hear more about Chinese and North Korean relations since North Korea I often heard depend on China a lot
And now Africa
There hasn’t been direct negotiations with NK in years. I’m all for that. Let them do their own thing.

Great video. I have watched a lot of stuff on NK and this is the most interesting one about their military and defenses. Never knew about the tunnels into the south.
I wonder if the south has tunnels into the north? Probably.
It'd be cool if they had a stargate :O
I doubt the south would have tunnel on the North, North Korea is the most secure country in the world, with 24 hour active patrol, both infantry and in the sky, plus the South want to do anything in its power to prevent a war.
That's kind of a dumb statement, if you think about it:
"North Korea has tunnels that lead to South Korea, but has South Korea have tunnels that lead to North Korea?"
Duh, these tunnels aren't one way.

Nice graphics and animation.

I don't really see why NK is impossible to conquer from this video.
Don't get me wrong, the video is interesting etc. but:
1) Tunnels -> what do we care if they hide tanks or can lunch jest from tunnels?
You have a lot less views than you should have, keep it up!

Yeah, you should cry a little.
North korea: we are impossible to conquer.
US: ok .
Russia: you wot m8!?
It doesn't need to be conquered just neutralized. The most probable US attack would consist of a TOT attack by several Trident II missiles. NK has no missile warning system so their first clue would be when 28 or more W76 nuclear warheads detonated simultaneously in a counterforce and decapitation strike.
I mean The United States and The United Nations did invaded and almost conquered North Korea, but then China came in and pushed us back. Don't think it's much about territorial issues but rather diplomatic chain reactions that could easily spiral out of control.
The answer is very simple..China.
That defense system was a pretty good move ngl
@@raylamberton6002 We did not run from Korea or Vietnam we killed lots of them then left because of public opinion

@@baekdumountaintiger5701 They're Kim's enablers
I don't know... But something tells me we are witnessing that the North or the South are about to meet its end soon.
How can you say *threw out* when it was a stalemate for 2-3 years?
Technically Vietnam was not a military defeat for the us, it just became an unpopular war like the Middle East, 1.7 million casualties for the NVA/VC compared to 350,000 casualties with only 47,000 Kia compared to 1.1 million Kia is considered a success, both were by no means total victory like we saw over Japan or Germany in WWII but they weren't catastrophic and humiliating defeats either

the only major reason north korea had managed to stand was due to them being backed by the soviet union and china even then the korean war was basically a stalemate
Just like SK surviving because of the US and its allies.
Let's not even compare DPRK's nuclear arsenal compared to the USA's
The USA, ROK, and Japan can wipe DPRK from the face of the Earth given the former's superior military advantage like how the USA bombed DPRK to a rubble back again in the Korean War. It's the prospect of China and Russia getting involve that can escalate into a world war.
Well duh. That’s the point of allies. If the US and Japan are gonna help South Korea then you should obviously expect China and Russia to help North Korea..
EXACLTY without china and russia. Korea would be a united peninsula.
Same can be said about South Korea
South Korea absolutely does not want to amalgamate the North as it would be terrible for their currency.
Why are Swedish jet fighters pictured at 3:02? I am sure Sweden doesn't have an Air Force in North Korea.
