      its always best to stop and observe which direction its going... so that means get off at the neaarest available spot... not stay on the road... highways espeacially as people may need to get out of the path... that means 130mph+ sometimes just to get to somewhere safe.
      if you dont know wtf to do... flashers get off the roadway and stop... sont drift around at 25 on a highway 😅

    😭 I hate tornados. Nebraska is my home. Location doesn’t matter where you live, tornados suck for everyone. The losses, cleanup, rebuilding and repairs, and sometimes people lose their lives. Big Rigs get blown over and destroyed. And let’s not forget about the loss of wildlife and livestock. Farm equipment is very expensive. We all know this. Sure, most people have insurance but what a nightmare that is.
    Yes, most of our belongings can be replaced. Our lives are most important. But it’s an absolute heartbreak to lose those precious possessions that each of us has. Whether it’s a family heirloom or vacation souvenir or something like an autograph. Those precious possessions usually cannot be replaced. There is nothing good about a tornado, hail, floods, lightning, etc.
    My prayers and thoughts go out to all of my fellow Americans who have either been affected by or possibly will be affected by severe weather this year.

      More or less, not much you can do in this situation. Fortunately for them, it was traveling in the opposite direction. Those overpasses, like the one you saw towards the end of the video, are death traps during tornadoes for two reasons. First, the wind velocity increases significantly like a wind tunnel- the May 3, 1999 tornado in OK City was a prime example of people getting injured/killed after taking shelter beneath overpasses. Second, they create traffic bottlenecks as everyone is parking beneath them and on the shoulder, slowing or stopping traffic flow as people scramble for shelter. Your only best defense would be to stay informed on the weather and just plan accordingly.

    • @SneakyCheeseThief
      @SneakyCheeseThief 18 дней назад

      You sort of gauge how it’s moving. The chances of it crossing right over you are very slim if you pay attention, unless you’re stuck somehow. You speed up or slow down to get ahead of it or let it pass in front of you. And if it does look like you can’t escape it, you get under an overpass as close to the concrete as you can get. That’s my experience driving all over Indiana and Missouri every summer as a kid. We saw probably four or five decent tornados from the highway - only one that was close to this big - and my dad was never scared, seemed to know exactly what he was doing, so none of us were ever all that scared. Just amazed at nature - or as mom would say, at how pissed off God could get.

      Once you're out there, that's about all you can do. Your only other two options are continue forward or turn around.
      It's best to avoid freeways entirely during severe weather, but people like delivery drivers and truckers don't have that luxury.
