    It's $189 so it ain't cheap. But it looks like really good stuff! I assume the 90° detent locks down true. If that's really the case they just one upped the TSO products. Amazon has several for under $50 from Asia that are 90° only.
    I have the old Festool square that permits different angles and I have the DeWalt 90 only square. Bought probably 10 years ago. Not very good.

    Nice infomercial, Dusty, BUT.....
    I've got it and it does not (reliably) return to a perfect 90 degree angle- there's too much play in the ball bearing detents. They should've gone with sharkstooth style detents. The result is having to recalibrate the rail guide with a precision triangle (Benchdogs).
    It would be nice if these sort of accessories were developed as well as their powertools instead of just dumping these substandard beta versions on the market. Either do it right or leave it to a third party to do it properly. Same goes for the Festool Sys Vac pre separator: looks great, but poorly executed.
    It's close but no cigar. Damned shame.

    • @TheLastPharm
      @TheLastPharm 3 месяца назад

      @@philippr2169 I really should just sell the damned thing and order a TSO rail square. I had two of them that I sold for the Festool kit, expecting the Festool kit to perform as touted. I would never demonstrate a product that doesn't live up to its performance expectations. This product is a major disappointment from Festool. I'm certain that there's a cheap Chinese knock-off from Ali Express that works way better than this, as much as it pains me to say it.

      I have one and it's not 100 pro accurate.

    • @TheLastPharm
      @TheLastPharm Год назад +1

      Good morning, I bought this about 6 weeks ago after having watched I don't know how many videos of guys howling how wonderful a piece of kit this is. It certainly looks like some thought went into it this time.
      Accuracy is an issue when switching from 90°, then back again. There is slight play in the detents; that's the problem. It doesn't seem like much, but when you put even a 1400mm rail on that square and then make a cut with it, you're going to be out. For anyone claiming they could do a 5 cut test and this square would pass (without calibrating it with a precision triangle or a precision square), there is just no way. I don't understand why the designers at Festool chose for sloppy ballbearing detents instead of an arrowhead style tooth mechanism similar to the Woodpeckers square. That you can calibrate and not have to worry whether or not 90° is 90° everytime you switch angles.
      Personally, I would rather see more critique and test results and less infomercials (sorry, Dusty don't mean to pick on you!)

      This one is not that great, i paid 319 for the kit, might return it, it not as accurate as i thought, better off just using a frame square to lineup, and just use marks for angle cuts..

    • @TheLastPharm
      @TheLastPharm 9 месяцев назад

      @@freddyramirez1820 You're absolutely right. The accuracy of this piece of kit, given the current manufacturing precision, is anything but accurate. I have to calibrate my 90 degree angle with a Benchdogs precision triangle before using it on a rail. You cannot trust those useless ball bearing detents.
      As far as I'm concerned, it's close but no cigar.

    • @TheLastPharm
