    I admire Brahmins to stand up and admit the discrepancies in the way art forms are monopolized. India will feel the freedom if it died not feel cast privileges.

    We need reformers like Krishna to kick out our special stand in the Hindu society by being Brahmin. None of us follow true Brahmin is. Brahmin meant to not work for wages and beg for food and not attached to anything in life. I don’t know a single Brahmin like that! So embrace progressive way of looking this absolute caste system and who sits on top advising others or punishing.

    I think you should give Carnatic concerts in Opera halls to opera audience too. After all you are trying to take the music form to wider audience.

      sunny005ism its not...we dont need any praise for the art that has been in existence and thrived since last 3000 yrs..all we need is nonintervention so it doesn’t become a secular art in the coming decades

      seenu007 Lol 3000 years. 230 years is the actual date. If you heard the music from the time of Bharata you would not recognize it at all. In fact if you just hear the carnatic music from Raja Iyengar it starts to sound a little surprising. Tribalist thinking of your sort is exactly contradictory to the principles of the great rishis of the past. You are being the mouthpiece for the exact opposite of this message: maitrī karuṇā mudita-upekṣāṇāṁ-sukha-duḥkha puṇya-apuṇya-viṣayāṇāṁ bhāvanātaḥ citta-prasādanam

      Culture is not a static entity , a lot of give and take happens . The violin which is an inevitable part of today 's Carnatic music originated in Europe.

    TMK suffering from a delusion of persecution. Access to anything is denied to none. Lack of interest only keeps NBs away from classical music. No sabha has put a board in the gate, reading ,"no entry to non brahmins" Neither any music college or teacher has refused admission to NB students. Decades back all community people sang or listened to carnatic music. Later light music became an attraction and NBs totally abandoned classical music where as SOME brahmins show interest and patronise carnatic stuff. Just have a look at the audience. Almost all are B's. NBs don't even have the curiosity to know what's going on inside. He is engrossed in cheap and sensual music and anything that calls for his grey matter doesn't interest him. Y blame B's for his lack of interest. For more than half the no. of concerts during the season, entry is free. Do they come? Classical music is available in youtube and several other links. Do they view? NB population is not constituted by only 'kaakkaa muttai' class of people. Elitists, well educated, stinkingly rich are the maximum among NBs. Why even such people don't come to sabhas? R they also discriminated against? TMK is totally confused lacks understanding. Imagine all B's decide to boycott TMK (they won't since they r the most sensible and level headed lot). Then TMK may have to sing to the empty chairs only since his genre will not attract NBs and they won't come to his concerts. Strange that TMK tirelessly throw mud on the very people on whose patronage his name,fame&money stands. He says sabhas r B's dominated. Well. Y not NBs start sabhas and patronise 'lakhs of NB vidwans' who r denied chance by B-dominated sabhas and TMK can b their chief patron. Well... Y not TMK announce that he'll not sing in sabhas that r B-DOMINATED...

      Sir, the issue is much more intricate I feel..A lot has to do with one's own estimation of oneself..The brahminical community does get the advantage of it.A kind of inferiority complex is fed into the minds of other communities in a microscopic level and the way carnatic music is so often picturised as just an expression of bhakthi (which is not true) and the vicinity upto which a NB can approach even a Hindu god is limited and so often the priest community voluntarily feed that into the mind of others for their survival and supremacy.And more importantly Music is an art and its produced out of mind.The mind set of other communities are made to modulate inorder to feel that the Carnatic musi doesnt belong to them...I totally agree with TMK in his argument

      @@aneeshgbanerjee Thanks for ur views. I wonder whether u r aware of the ground reality in Tamilnadu and the prejudices planted against brahmins since decades by Dravidian leaders and the so called left wing intellectuals like TMK . B's never designed any thing against NBs as u allege. Rather hatred against B's has been cleverly designed by Dravidian leaders for political survival and by people like TMK for cheap popularity. Pls once again go thru my comments. It's lack of interest in any thing classical that keeps NBs away and TMK lacks understanding. Go to any auditorium where classical music is rendered. 100% B's only will b there. NBs never peep in . There is no notice board outside that reads "no admission to NBs" . U have talked about inferiority complex... U are not aware of their arrogance, their mocking at B's where ever and whenever possible, their opinion that they have a priority over B's..... In fact they have tremendous superiority complex only. TMK is either stupid or deliberately lying. One thing is clear, he has lost all interest in his career. He is more interested in talking than Singing. He is an amazing singer but a perverted thinker.

      The problem has more to do with mind set I feel.Have you ever watched T.M.tyagarajan singing in music Academy? was he short of standard..!There is racial and regional discrimination in the arena..was T.N.R short of standards for Sangeetha Kalanidhi,have u seen a more talented veena player of modern times than Trivandrum .R.Venkatraman.I smell something bad in all these things.

    • @kaps8083
      @kaps8083 6 лет назад +1

      @@aneeshgbanerjee oh.. that's a different issue.. if u want me to defend academy.. it's not possible.. Music academy is synonymous with politics.... Right from the days of Semmangudi . Nalli chettiar could not win presidentship over The Hindu Murali Iyengar...
      I'm only talking about the general apathy of NBs for carnatic music and TMKs unfair blame game against B's without understanding the brass tacks..

      @Kaps I think the truth always lies in between. While TMK is polemical and perhaps stretches his argument too far, the role that sabhas have played is highly questionable. Having briefly dabbled in the sabha culture, it is hardly a space for artistic liberation. It is simply a closed system the functioning of which baffles me. Some problems which exist in my opinion: Little to no curation of artists; lack of ambience, acoustics, presentation, aka poor aesthetic experience; promotion of self-appointed pontiffs as the arbiters of good art; Obsession with tradition, bhakti and conformity, based on ideas that have no basis in history. As is the case often with India, it is a lot of hullabaloo about something entirely mediocre. And that is the problem. In any case, we are a young nation (albeit an old civilization) so there is plenty time to catch up with the world. Sadly though the politics of India is embracing more fear and coarsening rhetoric, rather than seeking nuance and depth through art and knowledge.
