    Congratulations! Have you ever thought of using a number lock? Four numbers can hardly be lost ;)

      You just think 4 numbers can hardly be lost, I'm here to prove you wrong! But to answer your question, that would be a much more practical thing to have.

    As you know, the Panama canal has amazing history. Before the canal there was the Panama railroad which a lot of people died on as they tried to get to California. The French tried to build a sea level canal because they were successful with the Suez canal, but that was mostly sand and dirt. The Panama canal was just rock. The alternate location in Nicaragua was a better location but Roosevelt just used Panama. The deaths was due to malaria and mosquitoes. They thought it was ants or crawly bugs so they put the hospital beds into buckets of water, the perfect breeding grounds for more mosquitoes. Awesome video as usual.

      Yeah I actually made a short history of the canal video segment, but decided not to include it in the final video. It is really fascinating!

    Sir Marshall Attenborough, what was your favorite animal in Panama? Wow, lots of fun facts in this video. That 'water' crossing across the bridge in a lightning storm, the 11k+ hike, and to see a wild cat (movie reference to Meet the Parents and The Hang Over- ha), were all highlights. Man, you make great videos!

      I think the sloth had to be the favorite! But there were so many to choose from!

    @fatnomad , what systems are you using for navigation? How do you know where you are & where you're going? Are you use solar panels or dynamo hubs?

    • @fatnomad
      @fatnomad  Год назад

      I use google maps and OSMand for navigation. I choose where to go day by day, there's no real method to the madness. I have a battery pack which is what charges my things 90% of the time, but I also carry a solar panel when I'm really in the middle of nowhere for a while. I do have a dynamo also, but I never use it.

    • @marklewis2519
      @marklewis2519 Год назад

      👀Have you reviewed the solar panel? What kind is it (brand/wattage etc)? Thanks for your continued inspiration! Wishing you smooth sailing!✌🚴‍♂🌎

      @@marklewis2519 I have not reviewed my solar panel yet. It is an Anker 21W trifold panel. It works pretty well when the sun is out

    IDK about you but biking somewhere (even if it takes forever) makes the world seem so much smaller, makes the immigrants seem like they live just down the street

    People keep assaulting me😵‍💫 with questions/stereotypes🥱💤 about safety in Mexico, and northern South America☠️ . You mentioned this issue once. Would you do a video on it?🙏 Or perhaps send me some bullet points? 🤏Thanks! 👍

    • @fatnomad
      @fatnomad  Год назад

      Yes, I am thinking about doing another Q&A video which I could address that there, but maybe I will dedicate a whole video to it, I've had several people ask about that too. Stay tuned!

    15:11 North America it’s not a continent Dude, Canada, USA and Mexico are North America then you have Central America from Guatemala to Panamá and there’s South America from Colombia and all those countries south.
    When you reach Ushuaia you can say that you have cycled or crossed a continent “America”.

    • @fatnomad
      @fatnomad  Год назад +2

      North America includes central america and is universally accepted as being from Alaska to Panama.
