Just curious.... why are there 2 boards to solder? Why wouldn't KunaiGC just have 1 board to be soldered onto IPL IC? That'd be alot quicker and less prone to bad soldering... unless I'm missing something. Good presentation and commentary. Thanks
That is a good question. I would have to go by speculation on this for if I knew the creators I would ask. But my speculation is. When you create a board like the kunai GC it has multiple layers in it for different traces leading to the IC or other components such as the memory on the board things like that. So if we think about that you can kind of see it in your mind as like a highway stacked on another highway with different lanes. And there could be more lanes stacked on top of those lanes. Personally I'm not sure because I do not have access to the CAD files or Gerber files. Now let's talk about the quick solder board. This specifically only has one job and it's to go from top to bottom of that board on the cascillated parts and lead out to solder pads. In the manufacturing process the machines can only do what their inputted at for a bulk production run. Which means the kunai GC is most likely made multiple at once on one consistent board and then it's cut to separate the individual kunai GCs to make it a product. So really they can't switch board layered specifications when they're making a huge PCB wafer of many kunai gcs So they would have to make another huge board of many quick soccer boards on it with those specifications of layers. Again this is only speculation but highly plausible from this thought process. And it's done like this because it's the cheapest way to manufacture in batch form. Now I know I just wrote you a book and I am sorry. But I really do hope that it made sense.

From regular use I cannot tell any lag while playing any games. I tried the system with regular AV cables and a Carby (highly recommended with a Dol-01 GameCube) from insurrection industries and

@@Vintagefeen imo to get what you want you will need. a Gamecube DOL - 01 revision 1 (this has the SP2 port on the bottom of the cube and a digital video out on the back of the cube) . Get the Carby from Insurrection Industries (please google it because youtube my take my link out if I try to link the Carby here) . After you have done the mod and put the Carby in the back which will make your cube an hdmi out. you will have the best plug and play gamecube with very sharp graphics. The game play at the end of my video here I am running the Carby and this mod. Again this is all in my option. I wish you the best of luck making you're decision. Thanks for the comment!
One thing you should mention is that even if it is a DOL-001 it can be a revision that does not have the Serial Port 2. Source: I Have the NTSC Rev 1.1 and got bamboozled when I had to order a GC2SD card adapter to run Swiss with a Pico boot.
I didnt know there was a rev 1.1 for the DOL-001. Thanks for that heads up. I will put it in my description . Dude I would have felt the same way because the requirements say just need a DOL-001 . I can see getting to the point of putting the SD2DP2 in would lead to confusion and then frustration and sadness. Thanks for sharing so could possibly help other people ! Honestly if you have had no problems with the xeno chip then you're good. I would only recommend this for people that have stock systems.
