      I’m a dinosaur so I have witnessed a lot, I have seen many people who are confident in their acquired knowledge on a subject or expertise in their chosen field judged to be arrogant. Some may be, most are stating unapologetically their informed opinion, they stand firm.

    • @kalumander
      @kalumander 8 месяцев назад +1

      Self knowledge is not arrogance.
      The context typically used when people use the word arrogance implies an attitude, rather than the factual-ness of someone’s statement of abilities - an arrogant person implies that they are more important than anyone else. This will always be false, because there is always at least someone, somewhere, that does not care at all about said arrogant person or how great they think they are. This also means that someone who is able to identify their own abilities is not inherently arrogant for that ability.

    I organized Eagle Scout boards and one of my questions to prospective Eagles was to ask why the first attribute in the Boy Scout law is “trustworthy.” The answer is without trust nothing else matters. Thought that up my own self.

    It was Luntz who coaxed the Republican party to use the term climate change rather than global warming.
    "“Climate chanpe’’ is less frightening than “global warming;” As one focus group participant noted, climate change “sounds like you’re going from Pittsburgh to Fort Lauderdale.” While global warming has catastrophic connotations attached to it, climate change suggests a more
    controllable and less emotional challenge".

    The truth has become totally subjective in this day and age...people believe what they want to and won't accept something that they think is contrary to their collective/individual moral compass. p.s. considering the sheer volume of news outlets available now we can all pick and choose what perception of reality we are most comfortable in = 'echo chambers' and 'safe space bubbles' that we all believe is our precious perception of truth.

      "The truth" hasn't changed. It's societies relationship with it. The thing about the truth is that it will be true forever, so these fads will come and go but the truth will remain, and always will. It's as sure as death and taxes. So my suggesting would be to reject any notions of this bastardisation of truth, and encourage others to do so also.

      he could have pointed out that tony blair is the root of so many issues today along with more recent villians like may and cameron. whilst in the US he focused solely on trump whilst forgetting obama( drone king), biden( inflation) and bush( indecisve war criminal)
      the bad situations in the US that led to boris and trump is not so. they are the response to a derelict political system that has corruption, especially in the US on both sides of the aisle.
      like him or hate him trump is the disrupter response to being ignored by politicians( which lutz has pointed out)
      lutz is about 80-90% there, but he pointed out inthe polling people want truth, so targetting a specific politician he doesn't like undermines his point.
