    Beautiful job. It's so nice looking that I wouldn't want to use it. I would display it to show it off to my visitors.

    Good Job on the pickax hope there were lots of diamonds dug up with it. Good to hear your house and shop survived.

    My only choice for unfinished wooden handles is birch tar torched up, so it becomes a rock-hard birch pitch-infused handle.

    How does the head stay on without any screws or fasteners? I would think it would fly off when being used

    • @FixitRestoreit
      @FixitRestoreit  4 года назад +4

      It stays on because of how the handle is passed through the head - when you use or swing it it actually gets tighter!

    I know you needed this tool quickly, but after using the bluing could you mirror polish the rest later? Love your videos!

    Nice but how do you keep the handle On? I remember as a kid watching new handles being attached. W/ wood.shims.

    • @FixitRestoreit
      @FixitRestoreit  3 года назад +1

      Thank you ☺️, normally you use wedges on ace, hatchets etc but with pickaxes you pass the handle through the top so everytime you swing it , it actually grips tighter ! If edges were used they would have to be driven in from the bottom
