My husband showed me this video and we went to Hobby Lobby to purchase our canvases and they were still 50% off. I started working on 2 of the medium sized canvases last night! They turned out FANTASTIC! I plan to paint them later today.     Beautiful! FYI mix the paint color into the joint compound ahead of time in a seperate bowl until u have your desired colors

      yes I would have mixed in the acrylic whit withthe compound....i make my own compound....elmers glue....baby powder and white acrylic paint .....works well on canvasses

    Do you put anything over it so it doesn’t break off if it gets rubs against or leaned on ? I can’t find a way to make it strong after it dries and painted over ?

    very nice idea and technique...but it should have been painted with and maybe sponge the off white color into it....i would just recommend crispier lines and curves but good job!!!!

    Hi, this is really beautiful work.
    I have a question, what if I wanted it to be beige, or green, or any other color? Can you mix the joint compound with a little paint?

      Hi! Yes you can definitely mix the joint compound with paint! You may have to add a little more paint than expected for desired color.

    Did you notice the joint compound starting to crack or fall off the canvas before painting or after painting it? What could you do to cover up the cracks to make sure pieces don't start to fall off the canvas?

      Hey Patrick! I did not run into this issue. However my advise would be to let it completely dry and be careful when checking, also use some type of sealant or spray like we did as a finish, be sure not to layer on joint compound too thick as well.

    People I would not do try this. It's eventually going to start flaking off or cracking. Jointing compound its in the name, it's not meant to be applied to a canvas. Looks good but I would suggest looking up how to make a thick paint compound instead.

      I’ll be doing a follow up video, mine has not cracked or flaked. Try not layering on super thick and using a sealant spray as a finish. Thanks
