    Although I have had several teachers, none has had your passion and depth of knowledge of Chopin. I love it! I have learned a lot from you. My word for the piece is elegant.

      Yeah - Ive been thinking the same! The value of watching these videos is thru the roof! Enjoying Chopin requires a special skillset I guess, not everyones brain is ready to consume these delicacies! So its not for the masses but for the enlightened few. Chopin still underrated, lets spread awareness! More videos please!! Give us some of the sweet extra stuff please!! The hidden notes for the Luke Skywalker-type students!

    I really enjoyed leaning and playing this waltz about 3 to 5 years before the pandemic. Ironically, I have pretty much forgotten how to play it, so it is very interesting learning the history you give in this video. Thanks for posting this video with all this interesting information.

    I don't know if I'd call the second part seductive. Rather, as you said, Chopin arrives in Paris and feels a sense of belonging, arrival or long awaited acceptance. The beginning of the piece is a jump for joy because of that, while the second part bathes in this feeling of comfort. The dotted eighths with the sixteenth notes represent little heart-skips of the happiness so vividly expressed in the beginning and end.

      Yeah, it also makes sense. Thanks for this insight!

    To me the story unfolds from a light flirtation to suddenly a feeling of intensity. That moment of the recognition of intense attraction. It slows and there is tension between them. Then they try to bring the lightness back, perhaps startled by the depth of the feelings. Sensuous... yes, as a shared feeling. (If one word, "intense")

    Hello Greg, great analysis as always! I was wondering if you are interested in Scriabins mazurkas to make videos about them? I think he understood how to write Polish music pretty well too! never the less I am interested what you think about him. (you own very cool belts)

    Altough Fontana's version of this waltz is usually the one played, is it the most authentic? Relative to the autograph version. Should one dedicate themselves to learn one or the other? Thank you!

    My word is flowing, like a turbulent river that carries you away. Here's a translation question: I'm curious if your Polish word has the same or a different meaning than your English word?

    • @gregniemczuk
      @gregniemczuk  Год назад

      What exactly do you mean?

    • @carolynk2
      @carolynk2 Год назад

      @gregniemczuk_official if I translate your Polish word , would that be your English word? Since there's not always an exact correspondence from one language to another--I was curious. The Polish word for Parliament versus the English word Diet in this video got me to thinking about translation & meaning. It might not work with every nationality, but joking about the German diet was almost as good as joking about anyone's Parliament. 😊

    • @gregniemczuk
      @gregniemczuk  Год назад +1

      @@carolynk2 hahahah, well, usually the translation is similar but in this case it caused problems!!!
      The original letter is in French though!! And I couldn't find the original.....

    • @carolynk2
      @carolynk2 Год назад

      @gregniemczuk_official in French, it's frequently le parlement or la parlementaire. It makes me wonder if it was an automated translation to "diet" versus the cognate, parliament. Thanks for an interesting discussion. ☺️

    Typical of the English language, another meaning of "diet" is "legislative assembly". I'm glad English is my first language. I would hate to have to learn it as a second one.

      Awwwwwwe thank you so much!!! Now I understand. Stupid me..... I hope there are more people here for whom English is the second language and they didn't know it.... So your comment is EXTREMELY helpful and I can't thank you enough for that!
