He tried writing in Sherlock in his own Arsène Lupin series, forcing the writer to change the name to “Herlock Sholmes.” No joke. Only after the film came out they thought to use Lupin the third instead of “Wolf”. That and few more years of legal battles between the Leblanc estate and Monkey Punch to use the Lupin name. The Lupin the third franchise is definitely worth the watch. It had an incredible amount of influence on anime and manga. Even in some western comics and cartoons as well.
It took me way to long to watch 'Secret of Mamo', as I was a bit intimidated by the animation style. But by god, that was a good movie to watch. Still prefer this Miyazaki rendition (I have a bias for Green Jacket Lupin) though, but Mamo was something I would have hated to miss out on.
By the way, if you'd like to see more movies with these characters check out "Mystery Of Mamo", "Fuma Conspiracy", "Farewell to Nostradamus" or "Island Of Assassins".

I understand the criticism but the dub actually adds to the warm feeling the movie already has I find it really charming even if it’s less accurate to the original the later dub has more swearing which just feels out of place but which ever you like you can choose
This dub is awful. As you know, this was released in the 80's, before Japanese anime became popular in the West, so the foreign voice actors were so bad that it became a laughing stock in Japan.
This dub was released in 1992, and i wouldn't say it's awful since it really isn't. I think the voices are pretty accurate. If you want to see what i would consider a bad lupin dub, check out the 1979 dub of mystery of mamo
Miyazaki was actually pretty fond of the streamline dub. So much infact, that they included the English dub on the original DVD releases in Japan, which is practically unheard of.

there some amazing lupin movies to see, i really recommend "Secret Of Mamo" and "The First"

If it makes you feel better, this film later got a redub in 2000 which was more accurate. Both dubs are included on the Blu Ray.

ルパンの吹き替えがオリジナルをリスペクトしてるのが分かる。
声質は似ているけど、余計なセリフが足されていたりルパンの名が「ウルフ」になっていたり次元がルパンを「ボス」と呼んでいたり、クラリスがルパンに最後「アイラブユー」と言ったり、いろいろ問題の多い吹き替えなんだよな たしか。
@@at09custom これは最初に権利を買ったところが出したver.みたいですね。キャラクター名も違いますが、セリフがかなり変えられていて、違う話になってしまっている。
後に権利を買ったところが出した別ver.はかなり正確に翻訳されていたはずですが…。
