I've never understood the concept of "I can't afford my car payments (3 months in this case) but I'm not going to sell it or give it back -- but I'm going to go away on vacation. That is some serious entitlement!
I have watched enough of Everything Auto’s videos when I come to Gatlinburg area, I stay in a hotel on the main roads and I pay to park! I enjoy my Everything Auto entertainment! 📺🍿🥤
I grew up in NY, my husband & I were stationed at Ft Drum,NY- near the Canadian border and Great Lakes…snow country! I never heard about putting the car in neutral!..makes so much sense- thanks for that tip! As for crazy people driving on ice…they left their brain cells at home when they came for vacation! You put your lives on the line to rescue them- I know it’s your livelyhood, but what a crazy thing to do and expect to be rescued! And then there was the repo.. well deserved and hopefully this couple will have a hard time buying another nice vehicle that they can’t afford. Just like the rest of us- you buy what you can afford…I’ve driven many a “ well used “ older car- and was grateful to have Any mode of transportation until we could afford a newer model. Let’s get real, people!!
If they don’t want to treat the roads & let people up that road, then they should close the road altogether‼️We are SO glad for your video today, seems like forever!!! You all do a great job!!!
West coast of Canada here(Cascade Mountains in British Columbia) .... we got a BLAST of the White slippery stuff here also! You may be able to buy yourself some new type of fast and easy snow chains? These (chains?) are just a Cloth Bag that easily slip on over the tire.. Seem to be fast and effective grippers. "Tire Socks" All the really good innovations are happening now im retired from driving(sigh)
Was thinking of you guys earlier, watching that semi hanging off that bridge over the Ohio, wondering how Jeff would attempt to recover it. Kudos to the first responder who rescued the driver.)
I give you and your bride credit, you know, when to back off the ice and slippery roads. My bride and I went through your area many years ago on our way north and couldn't imagine the narrow roads and no guard rails along the cliff side of the mountains. I see they are still that way, no guard rails. You two be careful and stay safe. Enjoy your videos. If we have a towing need for our motorhome when we are in your area, we know who to call.
Don’t know how I ended up getting your channel, but I’ve been laughing since 1am this morning. Back in the mid 1980s to late 1990s, l use to operate a wrecker for a company that’s went out of business. Thanks for the memories and big red would make a great show truck, love the new front bumper on it and yes I’ve subscribed to the channel.
I’m still one of those that would love to get out in the snow and ice…in my 60s BTW. The “big” snow we had mid January had me stuck at home for 7 days but I refused to go play in it since I hadn’t even made the first payment on my new car. It’s an off-road capable car and that’s just what it did, stayed off-road, in the garage next to the notso capable 2wd pickup. THAT was one long, cold week that nobody should’ve been out driving.
My favorite part of Friday nights now! New “Tow Truck Adventures!” My question is Why are so many people out driving on the ice like that? Also I am really surprised those people didn’t come for their stuff. I agree with the lady from Alabama Jeff is amazing so is Kristen. Y’all keep up the great work!
Snow and ice is why when we come down in the winter we stay in a condo or hotel in town. I stayed in a cabin in February once and got lucky with the weather, not going to try my luck again.
Sounds like an old customer at the pizza shop I used to deliver for back in 2010, they would order 3-4 times a week, always the same $14.90 order, and would pay $15 flat and give a bs line about being laid off from work. I finally had enough after the third time that week and said I was once laid off and didn't waste $60-75 a week on takeout when I could buy 2 weeks worth of groceries for that money. Shocker they called and requested I no longer deliver to them lol.
Jeff and Kristen, I know u will be glad when spring gets here, working long hours in cold snow and ice will definitely take a toll on you. Next week my wife and I will be in Gatlinburg for a week, we are hoping to a least get to wave at you 😊. Jeff, Kristen and Kendra thank you for another awesome week of videos. From Kentucky 👍🏻.
I think Jeff in these modern days people think because the vehicles have 4 wheel drive and traction control that they can drive them anywhere and in all weathers, but they learn the hard way lol.
Here in Ohio, people cannot get up a tiny bunny hill! Coming from East TN I know how to drive in snow and when it is packed ice... *Stay the frack home!* Some of the small roads on the North side of a hill/mountain will remain shaded and never thaw out. That is how I got stuck at Ober Gatlinburg back in 98 or 99. Stay safe!
I live in Minnesota. We deal with ice and snow on a pretty regular basis, and we're mostly used to it. We mostly grow up learning how to drive on ice (we used to call it whippin' shitties, kind of like drifting now). You're not, and I can understand the caution and agree wholeheartedly. I'm not used to those freaking tiny mountain roads with gaping wounds on either side. Are there not rocks that can fill those ditches so the water will still flow but if you go off the road, at least there's *something*. And single-lane?!? And y'all make do. I suppose we do, too. Much love.
I'd like to start off by saying that you, Jeff are the reason I subscribed to and watch this channel. Your humanity, empathy, and respect are remarkable in the world, especially during the current times. But, I take umbrage regarding your handling of certain situations, such as refusing to pull someone out of a spot that YOU deem unnecessary and unneeded because you feel that they will not be able to progress from that point on without help. You should make it known to them that you can and are willing to remove them from their current situation, but are not liable for getting them beyond their current circumstances without additional fees or without your help. The fact that you would deny a paying customer help to remove them from their current circumstances baffles me. Let them know the circumstances they will still be in once you help; but, do not refuse to help them. Once you have performed your duties they are on their own. At least give them that.
Neutral.. and with winter tires.. or, since you guys are so fond of things in a can; Snow chains, in a can! Turtle makes one that you can spray on and it works to get you up a hill or down, like glue on your tires. Works on wet ice as well ( I've tried just that..)
folks that don't live in the mountains don't understand...just because the leaves are off the trees does not mean they don't cast shadows, and thus, roads overhung with trees will stay icy for days following a real snow event. Three days is a minimum for most of those types of roads.
Jeff for the winter months check out tires with the pecan shells in the rubber they are usually recaps I had them on my truck in Montana and had zero problems on ice and black ice
If you think those work, you should see how good recaps with shredded wood work, we used to have them here, but the powers to be in this ridiculous state deemed them unsafe, I don’t know how, you could go anywhere with them on, and they were very reasonable to buy.
good decisions some times it not worth it for safety reasons. that last snow we had is the first time I've missed work for snow I am good friends with Chuck known him for years. good job
I live in Canada and even Owen Sound and North Bay are not getting much snow this year. The weather is really weird. In Torontto we have had very very few days leess then freezing all winter. I think you may be getting our weather! It is really hard to believe people would go on vacation and eat at restaurants when they have not made their car payment.
One good thing about snow in California is that there may be far more of it than you see in Gatlinburg but it occurs in mountain areas that are less built up and so there fewer access roads to get in and out. As a result when snow storms happen CALTRANS and the Highway Patrol are able to put checks on the limited number of roads and require vehicles to chain up before going any further. That minimizes the number of occurrences of vehicles getting stuck or going off road to more manageable levels. Going up you see a lot of vehicles that were turned back and coming the other way because they weren’t prepared. On the more popular highways I used to see operators selling tire chains and installation service at huge markups.
When I was hauling vehicles across country I had a trailer that would haul 9000 lbs and had brakes on all axles my tow vehicle was F150 with a 5 litre with an oversized fuel tank (50 usgal) plus a modified air intake and tranny cooler…with 20 foot deck I moved everything from small camper trailers ( 28 foot max) to 1 ton ‘s…I had to unload a dodge tow truck because all the gear in the truck was over my 9000lb limit luckily I had enough room in my back seat locker to take the extra gear..
The people you were talking about who got their truck repo'd sound like my friend and their family. Their house has fallen into disrepair because they would rather go on two vacations a year than to maintain their house. Almost 10 years ago now they let their toilet leak for so long that it rotted the floor out in the hallway in front of the bathroom. To this day the only thing keeping you from falling through the floor is the carpet staples. Then more recently they stopped paying their HOA fee for several months, probably closer to a year, so that they could stash more money away to go on their 2nd vacation. They came back home from their vacation with a lien on the house. To make it even worse, they aren't even going on lavish vacations. They are only able to save up enough money to get to and from where they end up going and for hotel and food. They go do one touristy thing while there but that's it. They are too heavy set to go walking around to explore so they spend most of their time at the hotel. It makes zero sense to me, I'd rather go on one big vacation per year or every other year, than two vacations where you can't afford to go do anything. If they just like staying in hotels they could do that in the city we live in and save money.
FRIYAY! I love the winter recoveries, especially seeing the beauty of the area. Dude's 4l60 will be warm going through those hills! Great video, Y'all ROCK!
20:26 i want to know where that Mexican restaurant is. The food must have been so good that the truck owners kept eating rather than run out to stop the towing. 😅
My adult daughter got my wife's car stuck on a hill trying to get to her house we managed to get it to the side of the road out of traffic. The next morning it was -11degrees out I was able to go over and drive the car up to her house because the sub zero temperature made the ice sticky we left the car there for a week until the snow was gone
Lol. That car lot is just up the road from me. Being the restaurant they were eating at and the city the car came from,If I was a betting man I bet they knew exactly why you hooked and booked because that wasn't their first repo this year.
16:20 I work for a Florist. We have a similar thing. Companies like 1800flowers and others that pop up on certain holidays are just services. They contract with local Florists. They aren't Florists themselves. Often there will be issues with the information relayed for the pieces.

Sorry due to extreme weather issues you all could not assist the two vehicles earlier in the video. I feel for the folks who get stuck because a lot of those cabin rentals will not refund if you don't show. As far as the repo folks go, it amazes me they can take a trip to the SMOKIES but not make truck payments. Stay safe EA Team, Keep the Good Going.
Jeff I had a similar instance but even in neutral the truck did not want to stop. I was in 4 wheel drive but low but 4wd. When I got close I locked the brakes out vehicle in reverse and pushed the gas slightly. It worked and the ¾ ton 1985 GMC with no ABS stopped! Good luck
Those finance companies will subcontract with the lowest bidder to get their property shipped back. They don't care. Any damage to the vehicle in transit is covered. Usually the debtor doesn't think to drop the insurance for weeks.
Winter road maintenance is expensive. But the lack of maintenance cost the local economy every time tourist posts a horrible story about traveling in the community. Seems like a great place to visit during the other three seasons.👍
Question for y'all, is this winter season typical of the last few years. Having grown up in the Crossville area, and I still have family there, I don't remember winter being like that..
That first icy road ,the people attempting to drive on it isn't the problem, the road being available for them to access it is the issue ,one wonders if the insurance companies start looking at any claims and telling customers that their claims for damage and recovery are declined because you shouldn't have been driving on it
I've never understood the concept of "I can't afford my car payments (3 months in this case) but I'm not going to sell it or give it back -- but I'm going to go away on vacation.

The best kind of snow and ice is watching it from the front porch. I got to the point that I don't drive in SNOW OR ICE. I just wait it out.

The Toyota “owner” sounds like my nephew and his wife. They can’t afford to pay their bills but they love to eat out all the time.😆
Funny how that works! They always have a new iPhone and their nails done too

My Guess is the Mexican Restaurant served them some Really Strong Margaritas and they didn’t Realize you were Towing Away their Ride. 😬👍
Or the food was so good they refused to leave to stop the towing.

I keep telling my lovely bride snow and ice aren’t good for anything. They just make pretty calendar pictures.
Tell that to a kid on a snow day lmao
Can`t ice fish without it , I learned to drive on ice and snow in a rear wheel drive van ice fishing in the Allegheny mountains here in PA .
Skiing and snowmobiling
Snow fights and ice in my bourbon....plenty of use for ice and snow 😂😂
I live in Ohio and we get our share of that nastiness. I keep saying God did not intend for me to live in the cold and SOMEBODY MESSED UP!!! 😱
3:25 Whatever possessed her to keep coming up the hill 🤣🤣🤣
Woo hoo, I was #550
That ice scared me!
Jeff do you have a crack in your wind shield in your tow truck on the drivers side. (If so) I know you will fix it your self
I live in Alaska and I wonder why they don’t salt the roads at least during this odd weather there. Or close the road as some have mentioned.
Question for y'all, is this winter season typical of the last few years. Having grown up in the Crossville area, and I still have family there, I don't remember winter being like that..
Most municipalities would have closed season roads or cabins for safety
That first icy road ,the people attempting to drive on it isn't the problem, the road being available for them to access it is the issue ,one wonders if the insurance companies start looking at any claims and telling customers that their claims for damage and recovery are declined because you shouldn't have been driving on it
You should invest in tire chains
Great job 👍🏻 🪝
