I just got two vintage bottles of Antaues after trying newer formula at duty free. 91/93 bottles for like 200 usd each. Thanks for introducing so many beautiful frags to me, Ramsey.
Finaly someone who appreciates Chanel Antaeus ! I always feel confident, sexy, high even! I get Comfort and feel sensual. Only perfume that makes me feel all those feelings and more! I'm amazed when some don't like it, almost take offence to them not appreciating it!! Lol
A lot of people tried the new 2022/2023 formulations of Antaeus, myself included, and imo you should try it, it's amazingly good. I've seen old time lovers of it saying that Antaeus is back. It's that good now
Thanks for the rec... i would try it for a video but I have so many vintage Antaeus bottles in my collection there is just no need for me personally to buy it even if it is great 🤷♂️
I just recently bought Chanel Anteus, wore it today. I am loving it so much. I actually got a compliment from it interestingly enough. I have a new bottle though woud love to get an older formulation.
The newer stuff is good (its a chanel they dont make bad fragrances) but what they sell today is not "antaeus" ... the older stuff is a special part of fragrance history 👍
Great video! Thanks for posting! Like you, I do not like overly sweet scents for men. I grew up on 80's scents. I've begun wearing Santos de Cartier since 1982 and it has been my signature scent for 30 years. For a while I wore the Santos Eau de Sport but then EdT is way better. The best mens non-animalic scent from the 80s. Indeed the 80s were the golden age for men's fragrances. Santos de Cartier is me in a bottle, like you said about Antaeus. I'll have to try Antaeus next.
Yes if you try Antaeus try and find one that has a silver Atomizer! The older the better basically.... also if you like Santos de Cartier I would highly recommend you try Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui 🤌🤌🤌
I bought Cacharel pour Homme when it came out in 1981, (after a free sachet with my Sunday newspaper). My staples at the time were Eau Sauvage and Polo. There was no internet then, and I wasn't in any loop, I just went round Boots perfume shelves and picked what I liked. I'm no expert, but I must have had some level of taste? Cacharel blew everything else out of the water for me, I loved it, and stil recall the sense of bereavement when it was reformulated (a process I had never heard of, hence never feared and prepared for). I've owned it ever since, just for the occasional hint of what it once was. When I finally got on the internet was I able to get a vintage half bottle of edt splash, but it hadn't aged well, and after another two similar failed attempts I gave up on the dream.
Antaeus’ mythological adversary was none other than Herakles (Hercules). The Greek hero wrestled the giant Antaeus and slew him by lifting him high aloft so that he could draw no power from his mother, Earth (Gaia), which made him indomitable.
Excellent video! I have a 200ml bottle of ANTAEUS in splash format, and the top of the cap is black. I've been researching online, and I've barely found 200ml bottles, especially in splash format. From what I've seen on RLS, my bottle could be from 94/95 - 2003/04, have you seen a bottle like that? Regards.
Greta year, 1981! Kouros is the fragrance I would keep if o was forced to choose only one. After it, YSL slowly started to be less brave. King Kouros said "après moi le déluge"... Don't worry about finding and paying big money for a COTR (Paris) edition of Kouros: I got both Paris and Parfums Corp versions, and they are almost identical. If you smelled it blindfolded, you wouldn't tell one from the other, unless you re a great expert. I'd like to try Calvin and Casanova, but they are almost impossible to find; and i won't pay 500€ for a bottle of fragrance. Do you know if Enchante Parfums ships to Italy?
I have a bottle of 1981 Antaeus that I just opened. It has always been stored properly. What I noticed is that the top notes of bergamot and lime are no longer evident; but the other top notes like coriander and clary sage are still prominent. The result? Upon first spray, it’s pungent and has a “body-odorish” scent. After an hour or so, it mellows out and the dry-down is very different from my 2022 Antaeus. It’s more masculine and unique. The dry-down of my 2022 Antaeus is more lighter, more perfumey in an almost feminine way. That’s my take on vintage 1981 Antaeus. I also have a bottle of 1989 Antaeus. The pungent body-odorish scent upon first spray is not as evident as in my 1981 Antaeus. It’s probably most true to how the original Antaeus smells. I hope that makes sense!
Hello! Thank you for this! I was wondering what your thoughts are about perfume (specifically Antaeus) getting stronger in the bottle after some air has gotten in. Just bought a new batch, and it's as weak as dish water. Going to use it a few times and leave it for a year, hoping it'll toughen up!
It is true that once you get air in the bottle the scent changes.. but dont think modern antaeus will morph into vintage.. unfortunately the best thing to do is to try and find a vintage bottle of antaues while you still can 😬
Great review man. Have you ever tried Sak Pase by Rich & Ruitz? It is supposed to be a clone of vintage Kouros. I have never smelled vintage Kouros so I cannot say how close it is to the vintage formula. Powerful stuff though. They use real oakmoss.
I picked up a parfums Corp and a Charles of the ritz in an estate sale for dirt cheap lol. I can’t pick out a difference, but maybe you could, I wouldn’t fret over it.

Wholeheartedly agree, the men's (vintage) is nice enough but the for women is something else, it's was the hot fragrance in it's time. Seemed like all the most attractive girls wore it, but for the timid. My favourite version on the men's line was the fluid body talc, it lasted forever and left an impression on anyone close to you and left a nice sheen on your skin. I can't tell you how this fragrance worked it's magic on the opposite sex....I really can't!
I love antaeus' dirty beaver scent, not really a fan of the combination with the resinous myrh, though it is a fitting pair, I would love I think a bit more patchouli with sage/rosemary like Aramis does without the rose. Another great one is kouros, which, depending on year smells like a pissy cat carpet which I love or soaped up ass. For anyone who has read The Iron John by Robert Bly, these two scents remind me of the wild man in the swamp. Hairy, dirty, wild, manly. Terre de hermes and Aramis are the Prince after he has assimilated the Wild Man. Those scents are so amazing. Some years ago I got into scents and after having tried various scent types these animal, aromatic fougere/cypres are my signature scents now.
My biggest problem with this perfume…and it is awful and unsolvable…EVERY TIME I pull out this perfume I get the song Rock Me Amadeus (but with Antaeus) in my head for some dumb reason.

Old castoreum is most definately my addiction 😅
Thanks for watching mate 🍻
My biggest problem with this perfume…and it is awful and unsolvable…EVERY TIME I pull out this perfume I get the song Rock Me Amadeus (but with Antaeus) in my head for some dumb reason.
Hahaha never heard of that happening to someone b4 🤣
Antaeus is the juice of Zeus
I love it! But Antaeus is actually is his own God... look him up! Neat little story too 😊
