    Congratulations! What a coincidence that I left the dealership life to fleet service a few months before you.
    Best decision ever career wise! I'm glad your advancing and enjoying what you do. I feel fleet service renewed my love for the mechanic field in seeing the fruits of my labor first hand, when I help a driver get up and running. I hope the young guys see there are other sectors in the automotive field to make a living in.

      Check your local government agency's. Usually there is a site that has all local government jobs and you can pick mechanic jobs. When they open up, you get alerted and just upload your credentials and resume. Government mechanic jobs usually pay better, have a pension, and have government perks. Best wishes.

    I appreciate these videos being really helpful in my situation. im currently 17 in high school, and still debating which automotive field i want to pursue and its a pretty tricky choice ngl. Not 100% sure if i want to work in diesel fleet or auto tech/ mechanic.

    • @LetsDriftMedia
      @LetsDriftMedia  2 месяца назад +1

      I rec going to diesel, you will make more money in the long run vs automotive, professionally speaking. They also go hand in hand so nothings stopping you from doing diesel for work and doing automotive for fun/hobby. From my experience, once you turn your passion or hobby into a career it becomes less of a passion/fun hobby since you are doing it everyday because you have to vs because you want to.

    Congrats! funny to see your transition in the heavy duty diesel side, bringing back memories good and bad 😅
    I was a 2nd year auto apprentice and then left to go pump diesel fuel for more money, moved up quick as us auto guys typically do. I hated the road and mobile work myself, if you actually enjoy it you will never be out of a job that is for sure. As you have found the only way out of shift work is a lot of time in or more responsibility, definitely hit them up for more money frequently, you will be a crusty old dude with a shot back and knees doing annual inspections on the ground soon enough lol
    Now that I am licensed I desperately wish I stuck it out and got my auto as well so I would be dual licensed, much more options and puts you at the top of the list for a lot of places, the heavy diesel fleet is a young mans game, unless you can find a chill shop with lifts, haven't found that shop yet and if it exists there's probably a catch...
    Good luck and be safe, stay rested and keep all eyes open when on the road, had many close calls myself, scared the hell out of my family, tell the driver to be useful and watch your 6.

    How much they pay hourly for a 2 year mechanic there and also in the position you are now ?

    • @LetsDriftMedia
      @LetsDriftMedia  6 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on your job position there entry level mechanics are around $50 an hour, Bumper to bumper mechanics are at $61, I am not at $62 an hour as a sub foreman. Pay is based off your job title more than how many years you put in.
