- A volcanologist working on the Canary Islands says it will take 'many days' for the lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano to reach the coast - if it does at all. The Cumbre Vieja volcano erupted on Sunday in the south of the island, one of seven that make up the Canary Islands archipelago off the coast of Morocco.

It's a very simple calculation: 4m/h...1000m÷4m= 250 hours. 250÷24= 10,4 days approximately for the lava to reach the ocean if it maintains its current flow rate
And that's NOT a long time.
Would like to hear more information from volcanologists on this.

Esto puede ser bueno y, también malo. Si en el origen la erupción no baja la emisión de material, el atasco implica una bifurcación hacia los laterales o, un ensanchamiento proporcional a la intensidad del flujo.
