Wire Bending 101

  • I got a question on one of my videos asking how we make those bends and such. I thought I would make a short video of the basics of wire-bending. Hence, "Wire-bending 101". Enjoy, and ask more questions!

    .032 is the default wire size for a standard hawley. Some doctors like diffrent sizes but if they dont say anything then use .032. But other appliances use .028 wire size like a spring aligner.
    Here are some other defaults:
    .028 Occlusal rests, ball clasps, adams clasps, spring aligner labial bow
    .030 sometimes Mandibular labial bow (depends on doctor or lab pref.)
    .036 Most Space matainers, (Band and loops, TPA, LLA)
    .040 RPE's Habit appliances, other heavy duty appliances.
