  • Hi Everyone!
This video is my first attempt to include architectural design content, such as concept diagrams and sketches of how I designed Singapore Life Church (SLC).
SLC was personally designed by me, with my firm, LAUD Architects (www.laudarchitects.com)
In Singapore, where most churches are 4- 5 storeys tall, SLC reaches 7 as it is sited in the heart of the city and within central business district.
The design was inspired by the chinese character representing 'people, as testimony that the church is not a building, but a congregation of believers.
The church was completed in 2013 and was awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2013 Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) Design Awards. In the same year, SLC was a finalist at World Architecture Festival.

one tip, for the balcony shot (at 8:46): I have this tripod brand {Sirui}, and the column can be unscrewed, this splits into 90/10% pieces, with the top plate attached still, so you can then splay the legs to get the camera closer to you, and make using it a little easier.

Another awesome video, Melvin. I love watching your approach to architectural photography as well as your admiration for the architecture itself.

Thanks again for the encouragement…creating content is hard work and time consuming, especially when I do it on my own. But positive response like yours spur me on. Cheers!

Great choice of subject, for all its difficulties. Were you at all tempted to stitch two images (top and bottom) together? Or would that not have been feasible?

It didn’t occur to me…ha ha

Architecture photography can be like combat - 95% total tedium + 5% sheer panic.

Nice, sometimes, when difficult to see the numbers on the lens, I remove the lens board to set it.

Can anyone advice why i get notifications of comments by 'Rory on a Bike', but none of his comments appear on my feed?

They might be in the spam tab. RUclips often removes spam comments or malicious comments. I get those all the time. Not from Rory on a bike though lol

There are hardly any videos on how to use the 45H and from someone who is also based in Singapore. I'm planning to get the 45H coz I intend to mostly use it for landscape. I can't find a manual for the 45H although clearly there are separate adjustments and locks for the front/back rise and tilt. How about the front/back shift and swing? It looks like they have the same locks, How do you find the usability? When you have fixed the shift, does it change when you are making swing adjustments?

There are a couple of people I know who shoot the 45H-1. I’ll be happy to intro them to you.
Join the “Let’s shoot film SG” FB group. They both there too.

Where do you develop the sheet film?

    • @melvinhjtan
      @melvinhjtan  2 года назад +1

I process the sheets myself, at home. I use stearman tanks

Thanks. Sorry for taking a long time to revisit. But I am just about to start 4x5, and rewatching. Your videos are a good resource.
I am thinking of doing my own development too…is there a place to buy the Stearman tank in SG? It’s USD95 or so, but shipping is an additional 50% more.
