olivia coe I remember this video a few months back Of this guy who was snorkelling in South Africa and he didn’t even know there was a great white nearby until it swam past the camera and nearly gave him and the viewers heart attacks and it was so close he could have touched it
When I was a lad we lived on a southeast Texas bayou, and right across the way was a muddy drainage creek we could find nests and built on which led to a small lake/pond. We swam off the pier for decades, three generations, in fact, and never had an issue with any of them bothering us. The only time we were particularly cautious of them was when a hurricane came through. Not because we were worried about them coming in the house or anything lol. But often times livestock and other stuff would drown nearby, and we'd see them come on our side of the bayou more often for about a week or so after. Weren't many big ones, mostly 3'-8', but I remember one particular gator that was about 10'-11'. More often saw him around the marina, where they had a fish cleaning table on the water. But every so often would spy him down the ways by our house. We used to catch the Lil ones just for sport when we were kids lol. We'd let them go generally, of course. I tried to keep one in the bathtub as a pet when I was 8, though.🤣 that lasted about 2hrs til mum got home. But nah, we often went Wade fishing at night, and flounder gigging, walking miles down the banks of the bayou, and never had so much as a close encounter. There were times they would dart off the bank when you hadn't noticed them, and it would spook ya, but much more apparent we spooked them off the bank. Was a mutual spooken. Lol.
Yep exactly. I'm a florida born nature photographer. Always around gators and have never had a close call. My only reason to go see it is because of how ridiculous it looks. But its great you guys put out a video like this, because lets face it, lots of people will believe whatever they see in movies..
Kyle Evans I thought the reason the gators were so aggressive was a combination of the nest and the storm I don’t know much about alligators because I’m more of a shark person, my dad made me watch jaws as a kid and it scared me so bad I didn’t even want to get into the pool to this day I still can’t swim in the shady part of the pool but I gradually got less scared of them as time went on granted You still couldn’t pay me to get in the water with them

From what I see in the trailer (I have seen the movie though), I saw the eggs sitting there, and I didn't think the babies themselves would be any danger to anyone, I just thought "A certain momma alligator is gonna take pleasure in twist your head off like a bottle cap."
I thought the same and then they just completely skipped that, which was bizarre. I was completely primed for an extra big mama to be lurking behind the nest and to get mad about her messing with the eggs, maybe even following her to get her out of her territory, which would make some sense, and then... Nope. Nothin'. The movie had basically no escalation of tension, since none of the animals behaved differently, and none were apparently actually hunting for food? They just left corpses lying around.
We had a basement in north florida, but it was built on a man made hill of clay in a higher area, and was cut out on back and only half underground. no gator is coming for ya there.

I know this was a year ago but I agree lol. Gators are cool and mostly chill as along as you dont go poking them or anything. Crocs actively see people as prey if you even just enter their territory.
Thanks so much for this video! I was wondering: in the nest scene, there was a dead body in the nest, presumably left as food for the babies when they hatched. Alligators don't store food like that, right? Also (spoiler alert) There were ~10 alligators, and 2 or 3 were killed. Would the other alligators be attracted by the blood of the dead one and eat it?
beginning of video: gator moves at 0:16-0:20 End of video: "Now I know everyone is thinking this gator is fake, he hasn't moved once" ----------------------------------- Me: .. ARE YOU SURE ABOUT DAT?!
Chris, I have a friend that lives in Pompano and he has a 4' basement. I have been in it. Storm door type access. Also, I remember Paul and Ron doing a show about basements in N Miami. They said Johnny Depps house has a basement. Only been in one. But, I can say 100% they exist.
Thanks for the input, perhaps your video gets traction and people understand how alligators truly are. This was fun, can’t wait for the movie review! 😃
Director: do gators open mouth when they chase prey? Alligator: no, we don't do that. That's more like a shark way Director: oh, but that's more cool so we gonna make it anyway
Since they're speculating on just the trailer, I won't fault them too much for this, but one point that stuck out to me was that they called that space a basement; that is not a basement, it is a crawl space underneath the house typically where you find plumbing and other foundational elements of the house. And the alligators got into the crawlspace through a broken and exposed drain pipe that drained into the lake
Something I noticed was how the gators went from kill to kill. You don't see them eating what they get, they're just killing for fun. There's also some minor fights with them, and the gators, while being stabbed, are still trying to kill them. No predator is going to risk injury, this movie was ridiculous.
I can confirm that at one time it wasn't uncommon to see a large alligator, most of the fossils from gators i have in my collection are in the 13 foot range.
15:11 SOOO gators are just really big cats you can’t change my mind on this LMAO MOMENT you want to pet them even if they’ve been laying next to you all day they go into attack mode LMAO !

also why did they not just use the shovel to break the weak brick walls. it would have been eassy then they just had would have to go to there front door walk up the stairs and well waited for it to be over.
Alligators are my favorite and also it couldn't even bite your feet because again their eyes are at the top of their head so even if they were directly on the ground they could only see their legs but then again they could randomly bite out of nowhere but from what I know thats slightly rare and I'm very sorry if you already mentioned this if you did I didn't hear this is what I heard and I know this because my mom studied to be a marine biologist but she didn't and she was gonna be a nurse but then again she didn't she studied for both but didn't actually get into the job and also I liked and subscribed and this is the first video I've seen by you guys and I already love this channel its so educational and I promise to check out more stuff on your channel :) (sorry its so long)
great video very informative. Also for sure one death by alligator was the little boy at disney but that's the only one ive heard about in the last few years.
Okay , I watched this movie today and I don’t think you guys should’ve based everything off of the trailer. They don’t make the alligators roar, they hiss and also the alligators were somehow already in the crawl space. It would obviously be bigger if it was a basement. The alligators PREVIOUSLY laid their eggs there. Also the baby alligators actually played no REAL part in the movie, the reason they showed them is to show that the alligators were there before. Another thing, of course there is going to be blood in these types of movies. I understand this video is educational and I actually found it interesting but this is literally just a movie for entertainment, it’s going to be unrealistic and of course the directors are going to make gators seem scary when they’re not.
Maddie couldn’t have said it any better. At the end of the day it’s just another horror film for entertainment purposes. It’s just a movie it’s fiction.
I know this video was old, but it honestly would've been nice if the Alligators sounded more accurate to how they actually sound in reality. In my opinion, the actual sounds they make are much more intimidating in a situation where you're being attacked or confronted by one
Maybe it was because I've seen Alligator/Crocodile related documentaries that I wasn't sold on the movie. It was absolutely terrible, complete waste of time. Great vid.
I saw the movie last year and there's a scene that the guy is standing where the basement is and the alligator jumps up and attacks him. How true is that?
You'd think any film production would include a behavior specialist for animal films - or even basic architecture for local structures. Basements, in Florida, indeed. Wonder if there was a fireplace while they were at it? But, silly me, applying logic to the film industry - what was I thinking?
I love all the gator facts you bring. I am in sw fla. We had Wilber across our little lake. He was massive. I bet he was a good 10+ feet. Trappers come and take them. Our favorite gators are gone. Really makes me angry. The gators are hurting nobody. I miss them.
I'd love to hear your critique of Anaconda, one of thee most awful creature films ever made, so factually incorrect yet so many people believe...that's how large snakes behave.
Same problem with Jaws Everyone thinks sharks are dangerous killing machines so they kill the sharks But sharks are actually beautiful and more intelligent than people give them credit for
@@FloridasWildest I know you guys are experts and know what you are doing. But while watching I was thinking what if it snapped and bite a limp off. Reptiles are no dogs they have no emotions they are like robots.
Regarding predators not roaring whilst attacking prey, movies, and TV even get humans wrong in this regard, I've seen lots of cases where they have a ninja or assassin randomly yell "Hiyaaah!" whilst jumping out to stab somebody.
My family is all Florida born and raised and when we watched that first scare with the monster of a gator EVERYONE said thats not a gator thats a dinosaur
I haven’t seen the movie but about the eggs, I think they are trying to say that they had nested in the crawl space, and and hatched and then it flooded or something and like with the size of the gators, I mean like have you seen lake placid😂
Did you guys come around to watching this movie? If so would you be willing to do another video? Also I feel as if you should do a series where you watch Alligator/Crocodile movies and review them with your experience and knowledge. Films such as Lake Placid, Black Water, Rogue, Primeval etc. Great video though, you've gained a new subscriber
Can you confirm or deny this. I recall reading that the saltwater crocodile and the Nile crocodile are the only species that will actively hunt humans. Not that I would ever put myself in the position to knowingly be in the water with them but I'm curious if there is any truth to that.
“Alligators only go after your head, they don’t go after your feet like that, it’s just not what they do.” That does NOT make me feel any better. 😂😂

Alligators don't store food like that, right? Also (spoiler alert) There were ~10 alligators, and 2 or 3 were killed. Would the other alligators be attracted by the blood of the dead one and eat it?
We have not seen the movie, we’re gonna have to get back to you on that
That's one of the things the movie got right, crocodillians will keep a "stash" they can come back to later.
Could watch these videos all day.
beginning of video: gator moves at 0:16-0:20
End of video: "Now I know everyone is thinking this gator is fake, he hasn't moved once"
-----------------------------------
Me: .. ARE YOU SURE ABOUT DAT?!
“Oh, by the way, this happens in a BASEMENT....in FLORIDA.”
My goodness, did these writers do ANY research?
I believe the setting is the crawlspace beneath the house, not the basement.
It's not a basement
They don’t have basements or crawl spaces in Florida and they had bricks with holes near the ground which they would never have in Florida either
Chris, I have a friend that lives in Pompano and he has a 4' basement. I have been in it. Storm door type access. Also, I remember Paul and Ron doing a show about basements in N Miami. They said Johnny Depps house has a basement. Only been in one. But, I can say 100% they exist.
Not a common thing I guess, but good to know!!
Thanks for the input, perhaps your video gets traction and people understand how alligators truly are. This was fun, can’t wait for the movie review! 😃
Director: do gators open mouth when they chase prey?
Alligator: no, we don't do that. That's more like a shark way
Director: oh, but that's more cool so we gonna make it anyway
Nothing beats Jaws: The Revenge. Ya'll remember the Shark Growling?
Since they're speculating on just the trailer, I won't fault them too much for this, but one point that stuck out to me was that they called that space a basement; that is not a basement, it is a crawl space underneath the house typically where you find plumbing and other foundational elements of the house. And the alligators got into the crawlspace through a broken and exposed drain pipe that drained into the lake
Alligators took a permanent night vision potion
Something I noticed was how the gators went from kill to kill. You don't see them eating what they get, they're just killing for fun. There's also some minor fights with them, and the gators, while being stabbed, are still trying to kill them. No predator is going to risk injury, this movie was ridiculous.
I can confirm that at one time it wasn't uncommon to see a large alligator, most of the fossils from gators i have in my collection are in the 13 foot range.
15:11 SOOO gators are just really big cats you can’t change my mind on this LMAO
MOMENT you want to pet them even if they’ve been laying next to you all day they go into attack mode LMAO !
The only reason so many things are wrong is bc the movies want to entertain and make it scary but some people will be Concerned about this
Greetings from the Netherlands and thank you for your videos. I hope that i go one day too the USA but i am invalide so its a dream...... But thank God for RUclips 👍👍
Love you guys. Love the wisdom you bring for us. I love gators and get very upset when a trapper removes them when they have done nothing.
You think the gators are ever like, "Ah, yes. This is warm. I like this human-shaped weightes blanket on my back."
also why did they not just use the shovel to break the weak brick walls. it would have been eassy then they just had would have to go to there front door walk up the stairs and well waited for it to be over.
like literally the walls were hella weak
Alligators are my favorite and also it couldn't even bite your feet because again their eyes are at the top of their head so even if they were directly on the ground they could only see their legs but then again they could randomly bite out of nowhere but from what I know thats slightly rare and I'm very sorry if you already mentioned this if you did I didn't hear this is what I heard and I know this because my mom studied to be a marine biologist but she didn't and she was gonna be a nurse but then again she didn't she studied for both but didn't actually get into the job and also I liked and subscribed and this is the first video I've seen by you guys and I already love this channel its so educational and I promise to check out more stuff on your channel :) (sorry its so long)
Build a massive hill …. To build your house…. So you can build a basement 😂
great video very informative.
That's is so brave working with alligators. Very impressive. I like learning about them and crocs
I know this video was old, but it honestly would've been nice if the Alligators sounded more accurate to how they actually sound in reality. In my opinion, the actual sounds they make are much more intimidating in a situation where you're being attacked or confronted by one
Yes, it is true that candy machines will attack people. 🙂
Depends what part of Florida... I have 2 close family friends with the 2nd floor underground here in Milton and Pace.
After watching the movie i started feeling resentful towards gaters and crocodiles, but after they explained about gaters "hmm now i know..."
Now yall should talk about "after movie reactions"
Once we see it we will!
You'd think any film production would include a behavior specialist for animal films - or even basic architecture for local structures. Basements, in Florida, indeed. Wonder if there was a fireplace while they were at it? But, silly me, applying logic to the film industry - what was I thinking?
You guys are super amazing ! Oh gosh !
you should be in one of those 'expert reacts to' series
I love all the gator facts you bring. I am in sw fla. We had Wilber across our little lake. He was massive. I bet he was a good 10+ feet. Trappers come and take them. Our favorite gators are gone. Really makes me angry. The gators are hurting nobody. I miss them.
I’d love to see a video where y’all talk about the man who was killed by a gator in Louisiana during hurricane Ida in 2021.
I'd love to hear your critique of Anaconda, one of thee most awful creature films ever made, so factually incorrect yet so many people believe...that's how large snakes behave.
Same problem with Jaws
Everyone thinks sharks are dangerous killing machines so they kill the sharks
But sharks are actually beautiful and more intelligent than people give them credit for
You mean piranhaconda?
This episode is so funny! Thank you so much ... 😂😂😂 Greetings from Berlin Germany 🤗👍🤩🇩🇪
You guys rock.... Keep rockin', and educating....
Thanks for the explanation and the nice relaxing video U2. Greets from the Netherlands
That gator in front looks so real. You guys are very good with CGI. lol subscribed!!!
It’s not CGI they did move
U seems correct.. they are movie for just fascination
too much anxiety watching that killing machine resting among you.
Killing machine? You mean Flacko? 😂😂😂
@@FloridasWildest I know you guys are experts and know what you are doing. But while watching I was thinking what if it snapped and bite a limp off. Reptiles are no dogs they have no emotions they are like robots.
Why ? The animal is just sitting there peacefully. I would make friends with it
@@lovehearts9710 Maaaaaybe because they're wild animals and unpredictable even if you think you know them enough? Maybe idk juuust a thought
Reptiles definitely have emotions, cognitive thought and emotional capacity didn't just suddenly evolve in mammals.
Really interesting, thanks. The movie was not quite as unrealistic as the trailer suggests.
We still haven’t seen it!! 😂😂😂🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
It’s a fairly good watch. Seemed like the writers had tried to do some gator homework but some Hollywood editor added some far fetched bits 🤔
Regarding predators not roaring whilst attacking prey, movies, and TV even get humans wrong in this regard,
I've seen lots of cases where they have a ninja or assassin randomly yell "Hiyaaah!" whilst jumping out to stab somebody.
It’s just a film. Make believe but will make people more scared of alligators. I’m in the UK and wouldn’t want to live in Florida near the Everglades
I just finished watching the movie last night and it was awful. So so bad. *BUT* I loved everything about this video.
My family is all Florida born and raised and when we watched that first scare with the monster of a gator EVERYONE said thats not a gator thats a dinosaur
Did you guys review "black water"? wonder if that is a more accurate representation of a crocodylian
I haven’t seen the movie but about the eggs, I think they are trying to say that they had nested in the crawl space, and and hatched and then it flooded or something and like with the size of the gators, I mean like have you seen lake placid😂
You guys are so cool. Such a detailed video, so much to learn. Love from INDIA ❤️
Guys. I hope this doesn't turn into jaws hysteria. I dont have to mention what people did to sharks after that movie. This could be so bad.
Can you confirm or deny this. I recall reading that the saltwater crocodile and the Nile crocodile are the only species that will actively hunt humans. Not that I would ever put myself in the position to knowingly be in the water with them but I'm curious if there is any truth to that.
Yes, they eat any thing they can eat.
