Dude! I'm impressed!!! That looks real good! I remember seeing your first weld...😂 Thanks for sharing your 3wheeler life. Have a merry Christmas brother!
Very good job Preston! I was nervous the first time just Tig welding the gusset kit on my '86 350 X, because I'm not used to welding on thin tubing and took me some practice to get it halfway right, and replacing the back sub frame takes some time and you made it happen a lot faster than I would have, nice job! Merry Christmas to you and your Family and God Bless 🎄🎄🎄
Looking Good! When I started watching the Video, I was thinking how I could tell you to make but plugs in the frame, and you already did it, Great Job!
I hope you have a good security system to protect these gems... like I mentioned on another 2 year old video of yours my '86 250sx was stolen in a locked pole shed with a locked front wheel and a lock through the tires... Never mind the almost 2000 price tag for a new machine, my dad helped me buy that back in 1986 and now my dad is gone... a lot of sentimental value GONE... I miss that machine... Would love to own another but they cost too much
Yes sir, cameras, motion sensors... I appreciate you expressing concern. I'm truly sorry to hear about your SX. My dad has passed on as well, so I totally get the sentimental aspect. I hope you find another one for a reasonable price.
That’s a lot of work. I have a great fabricator that I would have taken it too for the welding. I’m also not a great welder. Hope you have a Merry Christmas.
Another thing ive learned the hard way dont let the nice machines or snowmobiles or anything else in the shop when all the cutting and grinding and welding is happening... little burn holes in seats and abrasive dust everywhere if you so much as brush past a good shiny fender its scratched, been there, been angered by it😡
Sounded like the welder is running fine ( frying bacon). On those solid rods that you put in I believe on the lower section, did you drill into those slugs so you can get more of a weld penetration?
Yes sir I've got her dialed in pretty good now. I did not drill into those slugs unfortunately. I think that would have been a good idea in hind sight. I still think it's plenty strong and I don't think they're going to move inside the tubes... but yeah, for good measure it would have been smart to drill into them like you said.

10:24 gap is the poor mans bevel; for every good welder is a good grinder

I have a good buddy (my powder coater) who could have done it... but to stay on schedule and budget... I opted to go for it myself. Turned out decent!
Im impressed . That was a big job and it looks like it turned out good .
Thanks brother! I had a couple moments where I was wondering what the heck I was doing... but I just kept moving forward!

Merry Christmas Eve….imagine a 2025 trx 90 Christmas special
Oooooh, that sounds fancy!
That top factory gusset was cut by the original owner of the 350x frame. Idk why they did that other then the 400 engine and carb was way too close
Wow, very interesting!! Well, regardless, we made it work and it came out good!
Bro
I wonder if the "Christmas Specials" get any special spotlight during the holidays?
They are over on TikTok!
